Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A blockbuster that lets you breathe
While I never got the chance to see the first top gun in theatres, the sequel delivers on blood rushing thrills that were promised. In addition to this, it delivers something that has but disspeared from modern blockbusters. Giving you time to breathe, Maverick does as such without ever losing your attention and focus. All in all an expectational action blockbuster.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
This is the life
I sit here minutes after finishing the movie, as the end credit song plays, wondering not of the countless versions of me that exist out there but of the decisions that brought me here. Everything Everywhere All at Once almost does not feel real in the sense of the traditional movie experience. As thousands of reviews have stated, it felt like an acid trip of a movie, one that bombards you with beautiful scenes, thrilling action, and genuine heartfelt sentiment that has but vanished from movies that reach a broad audience. While the film takes you through a whirlwind of universes and concepts, the heart of the story lies in its simplest and quietest moments, of a family understanding one another, of love and affection that transcends worlds, shown with an almost overwhelming amount of style, yet those concepts never leave the screen. With outstanding performances from all the cast, with Ke Huy Quan especially. As the song states, This is Our Life.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
ITs terrible but its very fun!!!
The move is so bad in the best ways, I was laughing through the whole thing, and oh there was jokes in the movie too.
The Morning Show: My Least Favorite Year (2021)
A good start to a great show
The second season is here and it sets up and continues the sotry in the best way it can!!!
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021)
Easily the most interesting and fresh marvel movie in a while
Watch it it's very good. It has the best fight scenes in any marvel movie ever with cgi on such a huge scale you would think it was an avengers movie. The music could be better as it lacks in that, but the action and the characters make up for it.
The Tomorrow War (2021)
Blockbuster during COVID
A perfectly fine popcorn flick that doesn't disengage you nor bore you. Fun action, interesting creature design, and enjoyable sequences all throughout.
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
We need comedy right now!
Bo sings
bo knocks it out of the park
bo makes you feel something during a time where its rare
watch IT.
Inside Llewyn Davis (2013)
Melancholy the film
The Coen brothers have always shown their love for music through their movies, Inside Llewyn Davis takes a look into deep entrenched roots of folk songs and the love the Coen's have for it. The film is a story about the struggle of a man who's life is stuck in a perpetuity of circularity, a loop of meaningless actions conveyed through different journeys he takes throughout the movie. The soundtrack takes control of the film with outstanding performances from all the singers with the lead (Oscar Isaac) stealing the show with his voice that conveyed dread in songs of melancholy that hit you and take hold of you as a viewer. A movie that sticks with you.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Sub par style and an in abundance of substance
The movie has action, has the "emotional beats" and visuals that fit the avant garde visions that Synder has, it is a movie that flows slightly well with editing and all the bells and whistles needed to entertain. It has nothing more, the acting is dreadfully bad, the characters are written only in the sense that they have lines. The fact that this movie is getting 10/10 is insane, a film that is more tuned to be a roller coaster ride than of anything else. Popcorn flick.
