Baby Looney Tunes (2001)
Good Intentions, But Bad Idea!
I will agree with the majority of the people on this comment database that this show is intended to guide children in young ages and teach them lessons and politeness and what and what is and isn't right. But, they could've selected another group of characters to use instead of the Looney Toons.
The Looney Toons are obviously an old cluster of cartoon shows dating back to the 1930's to the 1950's, or around that generation. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Tweety and the Tazmanian Devil are some of the primary characters out of the Looney Toons. I know who Elmer Fudd, Foghorn Leghorn and Porky Pig are, but they are slightly less popular. But who in the world are these girl characters? The girl bunny, the girl pig and the girl duck? I have watched my share of Looney Toons shows even though I was born in 1993, and I know enough to know, that these feminine characters only appear once in a great while on the Looney Toons. Usually these girl characters were used as an attempt to trick or daze another character. Most of the time, the girl characters were actually male characters in disguise.
What makes me mad about this is, the generation today is filled too much with rules and regulations that aren't exactly and necessarily fair. While it is in good nature to include females in television shows and other activities such as votings and protests, it is getting a little ridiculous to include so many girls into the Looney Toons group. These female characters hardly existed, no-one knows who they are. Also notice how they are the same type of animal as the male characters. The female bunny is obviously the counterpart to Bugs Bunny. The female pig is the counterpart to Porky Pig and the female Duck is the counterpart to Daffy Duck. These female characters just completely ruin the show for me, completely turns me off. They are not humorous, they are not even special in any way shape or form. They are just THERE, and I wish they wouldn't be.
Also, as someone else stated, if this took place when the Looney Toons were babies, it would've been around the 1920's or 1930's at least. Laptops, modern phones and televisions would not have been thought of yet. More common sense was apparently needed before the airing of the show.
And lastly, it is annoying that "granny" gets the role of a lovable old woman in charge of these, claimed-to-be, adorable little baby animals. This "granny" character was originally a mean old witch who protected Tweety Bird and beat Sylvester when necessary. I cannot even think how many times "Granny" nearly killed Sylvester in the original Looney Toons. Talk about a change of attitude in these children's adolescence.
The Fairly OddParents (2001)
This Show Went Down the Tubes
I first started watching this show probably around the year of 2003 or 2004 with my friends. Of course, at the time I was younger and enjoyed some of the jokes on this show. I was 11 in 2003, and I am 14 now (2007). Though my age probably plays a major role in how I judge this show, after reading other's reviews, I have come to see that after the third season, this show went down the tubes. I agree. This show is obnoxious, repetitive and usually focuses on the same plot.
The show revolves around Timmy Turner, who was granted two Fairy Godparents because basically his life was horrible - his parents were never around, and he had a nasty baby-sitter. The plot of the entire show is that this kid (Timmy) and his Godparents always wish up some destruction that cannot be prevented by making another wish, because something in "Da Rules" says they can't. The show has a lot of lines that keep being repeated, like "magic cannot break true love, super toilet" or even just some scummy jokes lines that Nickelodeon probably thought was funny and decided to put in the episode various times.
The show is aimed at kids younger than 10, because it involves gross situations and "kid humor" that most kids of my age wouldn't care for. The character voice selection could've been better too. Timmy has an extremely loud, shrill, feminine voice as does Cosmo. Wanda sounds like an old lady. Timmy's dad sounds like some announcer or game show host, Timmy's mom's voice is too exaggerated to sound feminine. Attitudes in this show are: in some episodes, Timmy talks back and acts spoiled and snobbish. Wanda apparently is smart and wise. Cosmo is stupid, dumb and incapable of thinking as is Timmy's dad. Timmy's mom seems to end up doing whatever Timmy's dad does.
The show is too far flung from reality to get my likings anymore. Maybe as a younger kid, I could see more of the humor in this show, but as I grow up, it really grows old. And not to sound conceded or "trashing" but the show does have that mentality that makes you want to commit homicidal activity towards the characters. A show like this just has to be your attitude, if you know what I mean. If not, it basically disgusts you.
The Naked Brothers Band (2007)
Utter Trash
I have only seen two "Naked Brothers Band" episodes. While I won't complain as in-depth as some of the others on here have, I am not going to brush away the fact that I agree with them. The show itself has absolutely no plot, boundary or direction that I can find. It is one of these shows where you are incapable of comprehending what is going on. Kids are running around and screaming throughout primarily a house, and cracking jokes that are intended to be funny. To me, this show should not be hosted on "Teen Nick" but rather on "Nick Jr." It's 'attitude' is for little kids. No teenager, such as me - age 14, is going to sit and watch kids run around a house and scream and get into gross and dirty situations. I wouldn't do any of that and apparently I am a year or two older than all of them.
This show seems to be of a set of children who got lucky and spoiled due to having some impressive musical abilities. Fine - leave that be. No need to have camera crews following them around in a "self proclaimed" reality show. This show is staged. Unreal. Kids a year or two younger than me don't act like this, I didn't and neither did any of the kids I knew at the time. The surroundings in this show seem to be loony, fake, unreal and too booming. That is actually the whole problem with this show - too booming. It is loud, incomprehensible and unable to be understood. There is NO plot, or direction in where the episode it headed. It jumps from one thing to another. While some people enjoy this show, it may be because you can see the enjoyment younger children find in this, though at teenage years, this is really utter trash.
On the music side of the boat, it too is horrid. They claim this "noise" is 'rock n' roll.' It is nothing of the sort - nowhere near rock. To me it sounds like a school instrumental. I have seen similar performances in an elementary school play. One child sings while other may join him in some of the lines and play instruments. Things like this can be learned in school. Nat has too high of a voice to get the "rock" attitude down too. He sounds almost similar to a feminine voice. The music always seems to have the same "down in the dumps" tone and rhythm.
I rate this show a one out of ten, because personally, I find nothing in shows like this interesting or worth watching. It is utter trash. But I guess interest is in the eye's of the beholder - just like the "beauty is in the eye's of the beholder" saying. I don't care for this show and probably never will. And you know this show will be canceled shortly because the kid's will grow. Notice how it already doesn't seem to have a valid, official time schedule. Anyways, that is just my opinion.
Go, Diego, Go! (2005)
Diego is the same as Dora!
Alright, I watched the show today to see what it was like, even though I'm a bit to old, just to compare with the other show that makes me gag - Dora the Explorer. I found that Go, Diego, Go is the same practical thing as Dora. Same irritating voice for both characters, same "can you help me do this", same crummy-sounding songs, same Spanish language (though this isn't a bad thing), and worse of all - same basic plot.
In Dora, you are there trying to get to somewhere by three separate locations on the map (make sure you know the locations, the map reads them off 4 to 5 times), then when you get there, you act like a moron, andthe show is over. On Diego, you are trying to get somewhere (only with a dangerous animal that would probably rather kill you than kindly follow you), then when you get there, you act like a moron and the shows over.
No huge difference in both crap shows to me. And somebody ought to get rid of the person who does that dreadful annoying voice for Diego and Dora.
Drake & Josh (2004)
I Love Drake and Josh!
I love Drake and Josh. It is probably the most funny show on Nickelodeon currently, second is SpongeBob Square Pants.
Drake & Josh focuses on two teenage boys who became step-brothers when their parents got married. Drake has a little sister, Meagon (Miranda Cosgrove) who always plays pranks on them. There are a lot of pro's and con's with this show. I will list the pro's first.
Most of the time, the show will contain funny parts or lines. The plot is excellent. Though, Josh's girlfriend, Mindy, is quite annoying. Drake is supposedly the cool guy and gets lucky even through his lack of knowledge. Josh is more of a nerdy, yet funny, guy that gets unfortunate even with his great knowledge. Josh, works at a Movie Theatre, and his boss, Helen, likes Drake better than him. The show is awesome, I watch it everyday at 5:30 pm, eastern time.
As for the con's, have you ever been watching a show, and liked what was going on, then all of the sudden, something really annoying and unexpected happens that ruins the scene? This show occasionally does this. Like Megan's pranks, you wish she would've just stayed out of things until the scene was over. One episode I don't like, was the new one where Drake has a concert, and it starts raining, thanks to a false weather report. That episode seems to be going in slow-motion. They are doing things, yet they stay in one room, and it seems no progress is being made. Another thing, it bugs me how Nick keeps showing the same episodes over and over. If I see the one with Josh and Mindy working on the science fair project again, I am going to keel-haul someone. Lastly, sometimes things they say are not funny, rather just annoying and soooo idiotic. Like Mindy, Josh's girlfriend, she says little lines that aren't funny, yet, there goes the laugh track.
But all in all, I agree with some of the other comments about the same jokes being used over and over. The one that annoys me is where somebody says "you're the greatest." And the other person says "I know!" with a snobbish mentality. Other than that, this is an EXCELLENT show, as I said, I watch it daily, I find it very funny. If I have seen a episode once or twice, I might watch it again. But please, not the Science Fair Project episode or Demonator Roller Coaster episodes again, Nickelodeon, please get a new wreal (spelling*) of Drake & Josh episodes.
