Terrible as usual.
6 November 2022
Peterson is just Alex Jones with a degree. They use the same ways of talking. Their narcissism is the same. Peterson thinks he is a genius but sadly he got famous from misunderstanding a Bill in the Canadian Parliament. He should have been so ashamed that he went quiet but no, because we are here in time he just continued to blah, blah and got more famous while really awful, mostly terrible and sometimes dangerous ""advice" to young men and boys. They are especially vulnerable to Peterson because he "sounds smart" by using long words in rambling sentences that make no sense in any way. He teaches males to be like their grandfathers were. His advise is not helping young men at all.

Everyone needs to watch this.

I really hope this film goes viral. Sit all your trump supporting relatives and friends down and get them to watch it.

Those interviewed aren't liberals or progressives they're real conservatives, not the fake populist type who love trump. They believed trumps lies through his propaganda, one of the few things he excels in.

The fate of the country is at stake, literally. Thank you to the makers of this documentary. It was long but easy to watch and shows a whole lot of people with different perspectives, from different backgrounds who have all had their eyes opened to who trump really is. Their voices are sorely needed if the country is to survive.

Alex's War (2022)

I have watched the film
8 September 2022
I have known Alex for literally decades and I know his lies well. It disappoints me that young people will watch this and believe it.

He lies in this to the point of ridiculousness. Anyone who's heard his back story knows. He has told so many stories even he can't remember which lies he's told when. This film will now be used to normalise someone who shouldn't be normalised. This is pure propaganda if the producer knows him, naive in the extreme if she doesn't. She can't have done any homework on him beforehand.

Don't bother. This isn't who the real Alex is in any way. It's such a disappointment. If she'd bothered to do her research she could have done a great expose. What a wasted opportunity.

Ignore some of the reviews here.

First, this is a remake of a European series.

I haven't finished watching this but have to suggest not reading low score posts on here. Whiny little boys or man babies. Australia is a multicultural society that, on the whole, appreciates the difference in people.

To read some of these comments you would believe Australia is from a long time ago when being a different colour was frowned upon.

Personally, I'd love the bigots on here to go away but sadly they won't so just give it a go.

Great acting on the whole. Script was fine. Characters played their parts well. I may be giving a better score just to try to balance things. Love it or hate it just don't take any notice of the naysayers.

Realistic

This show excellently deals with different griefs and how they're handled. I don't get the "soup opera" line. This was a sophisticated portrayal of complicated situations like death and grief.

Having real life experience in both I find it very authentic. Those who don't may not have experienced the dynamics at play in complicated relationships but trust me this did a great job of showing the emotional roller coaster.

Great series

Having been around back then this brought back so many memories both good and bad. It was a heady time.

Great writing, great acting. The only niggle is some of the props weren't year specific.

Great new Aussie drama

Unlike the OP I found this series to be fresh, crisp and modern. having worked in a similar setting I found it to be quite realistic. The acting by quite a young cast is well executed and the story line believable. There are interesting plot lines both professional and personal an the character development is being flushed out nicely.

Admittedly some of the extras were a bit lacking but on the whole I feel that this as the show progresses it will only improve. After some of the rubbish we have been receiving from the U.S. I think this will give them a run for their money. it was a refreshing change from the all too familiar offing's from overseas and even from here in the past.

I look forward to seeing how the series pans out and hope others will at least give it a go.

no award for this movie?
30 April 2010
I have just finished watching this movie on DVD and as there have already been excellent reviews on this site so I will not reiterate the storyline. I am amazed and astonished to see that this movie was only nominated for 3 awards, one being for the score. This film is wonderful. A word which we don't use or say often in a positive way is heartwarming. This word now seems synomymous with trite or sickening. I am delighted to be able to say that this film is heartwarming in the best of ways. The author wrote this in a short time but put so much into the story. Even with the caliber of actors it had I was hesitant that it may have been both trite and sickening but it was neither. Not only was it brilliantly written and acted but the cinematography was beautiful. Freeman and Nicholson bounced off each other as only they could. Their banter was both quick witted and charming. It dealt with the subject of impending death with both sensitivity and hilarity. It truly is a movie where you will laugh and cry unashamedly.

Great, wonderful, terrific

Had not seen any publicity for this film so had no idea what to expect but what a breath of fresh air this film is. An amazing ensemble cast. Really hits the right balance in all ways.

It could have been a soppy Chick flick but turned out to be an intelligent and thoughtful piece of writing which the actors carried off brilliantly. Can't wait for another one by this collaboration of producers and director. Bravo.

This does not fit into any one genre I don't think. That is one of the things I enjoyed about this movie. It wasn't romance, comedy or drama but had all of those elements.
