The Serpent Queen (2022)
Historical Fiction
I really loved the White Princess and the White Queen from Starz but didn't care much for the Spanish Princess. Unfortunately, the Serpent Queen is more like the latter then the former 2. I found myself checking to see how much time was left in the episode a couple times out of boredom and my mind started wondering off about other things. I'm disappointed too because I was really looking forward to this show and I love that part of history in Italy. This was kinda bizarre and more of a historical fiction which is tolerable for me if the writing and acting make up for it. It unfortunately didn't make up for it at all. I don't wanna discourage anyone from watching this as someone else might enjoy it and everyone has their different tastes but it just wasn't for me personally.
Skyggen i mit øje (2021)
Wow! Wasn't expecting it to be that good
I went into this movie not knowing what to except and ended up being completely on the edge of my seat with emotion. I gotta warn you though there's some really heavy scenes involving children so if you're sensitive to that even a little you may wanna watch something else. If you can handle that you'll be in for roller coaster ride of emotions. This is based on true events of WWII so it's not even make believe in a sense. With that said, it's an incredible movie and really well done and couldn't recommend it more. This is a lot better than most of the stuff coming out of Hollywood. Enjoy!
Dog (2022)
Man I ended up loving this
First off I gotta say I love dogs and their unconditional love so I do have a little bias going in to this review. My biggest fear with movies that have any kind of animal in it is if they get hurt or something. I know movies aren't real but I still can't deal with it but you'll be happy to know this film has none of that. This isn't to say that it isn't pretty heavy at times but it's well done and relatable. There's some great humor and it pokes fun in a harmless way at people. It had me laughing quite a few times. It also had my eyes welling up too as LuLu was just so freaking sweet. I couldn't recommend this more and I give Channing props for what he did here. Enjoy it everybody.
Mystère (2021)
Loved it for its simplicity
First Ii usually never watch movies like this and usually just like dark and gritty stories recently like Gomorrah, El Marginal, or even GOT. This movie turned me into a puddle and had me feeling joyous then literally crying and then back to feeling good again. I can watch people get blown up and not feel much in other shows/movies but something about seeing a sweet little girl and her animal in pain or suffering even a little can take down even the hardest guy. Props to everyone involved in working with the wolves to make this movie. I think sometimes even the simplest plot can really bring out the most visceral feelings inside you especially with little kids involved. I really recommend this to almost everyone but just remind the family it's make believe because there's a couple gut punches along the way to an otherwise feel good movie. For the guy complaining about voice overs I would say pull up your big boy pants and learn to read subtitles. I mean come on are we really this lazy(or other adjectives)? I can understand if you got bad eyes or something but you really need to watch shows in there original native language or miss so much even if you don't understand. You can still get so much from just the tone, ect watching it in original language. Enjoy!
