The Walking Brain Dead
30 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Would at least one writer on this show please inject some intelligence into at least one character? The stupidity has become laughable. Most of the "peril" on this show is not due to the "dead" but to the characters' complete lack of common sense. In particular the teenagers are the most useless and moronic. Not only do they consistently make bad choices, but they make the choice that puts the most people in danger. Of course all is always forgiven with a whimpering "I'm sorry, I didn't know." This is scrip writing at it's most pathetic. If it hadn't been for the immense popularity of TWD, this show would have been long gone. If the producers have more sense then these characters, they would jettison this show before the stench gets too thick and start over again later after the smell subsides.

48 Hours: A Mother Accused (2016)

Really?
16 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
The score is more for the unabashed gross incompetence of the law enforcement officials than the quality of the program, but it just didn't sit well with me. Under search warrant, law enforcement officials went to the apartment of a mother accused of poisoning her child with excessive amounts of salt (sodium). After entering her apartment, they immediately see an IV bag in the kitchen with a white substance in it and another mostly empty IV bag in the garbage. These absolute morons chose not to collect them for evidence because the woman being investigated who lied to them about everything she was questioned on, told them she was still feeding her child breast milk and that's what looked like was in the bag. So these tax-draining morons did not collect this evidence. Why would any reasonable person (let alone a so called professional) not collect either IV bag when the entire purpose of the search warrant was to collect evidence as to how excessive amounts of sodium might have been administered to the child. Even more disconcerting was the fact that they were willing to admit to such a clear case of incompetence on all their parts on National TV. I hope these idiots are now mopping floors instead of investigating murders.

White Trash on Parade
22 March 2015
It's like the first few weeks of American Idol when they exploit the untalented, arrogant, ignorant contestants. This show always focuses on white trash. You hear the family members talk about how the 18 year old victim lit up a room when she walked in. How everyone loved her. How she was beautiful, talented, and smart. Then you learn she was selling herself online, was a crack-whore, and had three children from three different felons. Everyone interviewed is either covered in tattoos or piercings, has several teeth missing, is very uneducated, or most likely all of the above. It's hard to tell if NBC is interviewing these people because the information they have in interesting or if they are exploiting their ignorance for comedic effect (I vote for the latter). Of course these white trash are the focus of this program because they all sleep around, drink excessively, and own 15 guns (the perfect storm of their bread and butter). Aside from all that, they repeat information so much that original information makes up only 10 minutes which is repeated, ad nauseum, to fill the broadcast hour.

Mixology (2013–2014)

Syrup of Ipecac
27 March 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Take one part arrogance, two parts stupidity, three parts promiscuity, a dash of overacting, a pinch of deplorable, stir and what do you get? Mixology. This glass is not even half empty, it is bone dry. Nowadays, with so much quality television programming coming from the cable stations, you would think that the networks, with their superior resources and availability, would overwhelm them with superior shows instead of aiming for the gutter as they have done here. One embarrassing cancellation after another, and none of the networks have learned a thing. I guess if you can't develop a hit show, you simply lower the requirement to be a hit show. Apparently, if 5 million people watch, it's a big hit now. Ten years ago, that would have been unthinkable.

Mixology now means, take a room full of empty-headed, 30-something, single, narcissistic, over-sexed, pea-brains; listen in as they degrade and demean everyone else, plot to bed anyone that will have them, talk inappropriately to others they don't know, and think the world revolves around their libido. Watching this show actually kills more brain cells than smoking a pack of cigarettes during the 30 minutes this rancid garbage airs. If it gets picked up for another season, I'm sure the network will have to attached a Surgeon General warning to it.

This junk belongs on BRAVO or TLC.

Entertainment for the Wretched Refuse
5 March 2014
What can I say about this "reality" show? I could say the it is an embarrassment to every self-respecting citizen of the country these red neck cretins claim to be from (although without subtitles, how could you tell?). I could say that the Robertson's are one of the most intelligent families in the country since they have found a sure fire way of extracting millions from the lowest(in intelligence and economic status) element. I could say that this show represents everything that has gone wrong in the entertainment industry in the last several years. I could say that people who watch the show just get off on watching others humiliate and demean themselves (but that would be indicative the the viewer not the show). I could say that the fact that millions watch this show every week means that Armageddon can not be far away. Or, I could just look at the content, spelling, and grammar of the reviews of those that gave the show 10 stars and hope that the next generation raises the bar up out of the mud.

Red Tails (2012)

Demeaning
1 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
George Lucas' cliché-ridden scrips may work for science fiction but this story deserved much more. This movie is not only cartoonish, but belittles the very patriots it {I'm assuming) set out to honor. My favorite line from the movie occurred when a German pilot, who had been hit, was returning to his base. By radio he stated: "Achtung, may day." I never laughed so hard in my life. Close second: when the German Squadron leader referred to the red tails as rookies when they first appeared - much too obvious of a set up.

The acting was terrible. The writing even worse. Everyone in the movie just spoke in clichés. And, the scene to scene progression was like reading an obituary: only the good parts were included.

How can Hollywood justify spending millions of dollars on this crap? Do they really think they are doing these men service by hollywoodizing their story? The truth will enlighten Americans far longer than this schlock ever will.

I've taken in The View and Don't like what I see
25 December 2013
I don't normally watch daytime TV since I work days, but I have from time to time, over the years, watched several episodes of The View. At first, it comprised of experienced journalists, a respected attorney, and a stand-up comedian. The discussions were intelligent, thought-provoking and enjoyable. It soon morphed into 3 stand-up comedians, a has-been TV journalist, and Elizabeth H. (whatever she is or claims to be). The discussions were loud, ill-informed, and mean-spirited. The panel seemed more interested in arguing than providing any semblance of meaningful discourse. Obviously, the show's producers didn't think much of their audience to dumb down a once promising talk show so severely. Now, all stand-up comedians (although Barbara is usually sitting). The show is too loud, too abrasive, and totally irrelevant. I couldn't get through 10 minutes of it. Although you can draw a parallel to the far superior and extremely great, great show Breaking Bad: watch as the good show goes terribly, terribly wrong.

It Took Guts
22 December 2013
I'll have to say this about Adam Sandler: it took a lot of guts to admit he had anything to do with the writing of this distasteful, sorry excuse of a "movie." I guess he has gotten to the point where his arrogant, narcissistic mentality (and unfortunately his continued (?) popularity) would allow him to release such an embarrassing piece of crap without throwing his entire career (and reputation) down the sewer. It pains me to think that people were paid millions of dollars each to write, produce, direct, star in, and distribute this travesty (and that it made enough money to assume more is on the way). After watching this movie (I got it from the library, so thank heaven I didn't waste any money on it), I would have no trouble believing that all these functions were performed by 12 year olds. Did intelligent people actually watch the final cut and think it was a good movie? (and why are these people making millions of dollars?) Unfortunately, many of the movie's stars are celebrities that I have enjoyed in other projects. All through this movie, I was so embarrassed for them, but I guess a paycheck is a paycheck (and this movie will soon be forgotten). Its seems more and more celebrities are willing to put their names on inferior projects like this just to stay in the spotlight.

If there is any justice in this industry, this turkey will be the beginning of the end to Adam Sandler phoning it in for millions.

Eye Rolling
2 December 2013
If you hired the ten best writers in Hollywood and tasked them only to attempt to make this movie worse, they would fail. This movie is bad through and through. Sure, you would have to be crazy to go into this movie expecting much given that RZA is co-writer, actor and director. But, the mess he made of all three is truly a wonder to behold. His "acting" was painful to watch. His character provided part of the voice-over narrative; but made it sound straight out of Compton. Also, the soundtrack was exceptionally ridiculous for what was supposed to be a period piece. The dialog - too much awful there to put to words. Russel Crowe must have owed somebody big-time to agree to do this tripe. In addition to being terribly miscast, he seemed embarrassed to be there. Lucy Lui, as always, was a welcome addition to an otherwise hopeless and hapless endeavor.

Hostages (2013–2014)
1/10
FIZZLE, fizzle, fizz..., gone.
26 October 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I had high hopes for this series: A one season and out action thriller with a unique premise. But like a fireworks display that starts out loud, bright and dazzling, its has fizzled away to nothing. I like Tony Collette, but she has been terribly miscast here. She is wooden and too unemotional. Although you would expect a topnotch surgeon to be somewhat less emotional than most, her portrayal is a major distraction to the premise of the show. She seems to be taking that fact that her whole family has been taken "hostage" in stride. Since more than one family member has been taken hostage, why would the "terrorists" not sacrifice one to keep her in line (as they attempted with the nurse).

The final straw was when, after the children successfully made it to a bus station, where the doctor observed her children waiting for her (as part of an elaborate plan formulated by the doctor and her husband to get the children and her to safety), the good doctor was contacted via her cell phone and watched as the terrorists shot her husband, who, as part of the plan, voluntarily ran interference to help the others escape. Instead of gathering her children and leaving as planned, she left them a note to take the bus without her and she returned home to help her husband. Did she think they would give him a spa vacation for helping his family escape? Why would she ruin everything her husband went through to help his family and reintroduce them all to the danger they so desperately were trying to flee from? How can such a respected surgeon act in such a foolish, irresponsible, and stupid manner? This was definitely foreshadow of things to come. The family attempting to escape, and stupid decisions preventing that from happening (because, after all, the show is over if the family gets away). I was hoping the action and suspense of the hostage situation would unravel differently.

And lastly, the father is having an affair, the teenage son is a drug dealer, and the teenage daughter has become pregnant by her loser boyfriend. Are we suppose to connect with these hostage characters?

Shallow and Loud.
22 October 2013
I had high expectations going in, but, disappointment soon prevailed. The movie was too choppy; the music too loud and distracting (I couldn't hear some of the dialogue because of the music). Emma Watson was amazing as expected. The other characters were cardboard. There really wasn't much to the storyline and it was difficult to become involved in a movie where every character was so unlikeable. I left the theater wondering why it was so easy for these characters to get away with what they did and how the adults in the film could possibly be so clueless. It just seemed that the story should have been much more interesting.

Horrible!
23 November 2011
I can't imagine anyone finding any entertainment value in this train wreck at all. Please people, RAISE YOUR STANDARDS! Fake fights. Fake personalities. Wretched acting. No redeeming value whatsoever. I can only imagine a group of fifty or sixty-something pseudo-executives at MTV dreaming up this drivel and allowing it to be put on the air knowing that teens and preteens will be watching. SHAMEFUL! How do they sleep at night? I bet they don't let their grandchildren watch this. And, the cast looks like they photo-shopped fifty year old faces on thirty-five year old bodies. I shudder to think how these so-called executives think they will be able to top this, or to what lengths they will go to do that. Maybe they should be cancelled along with this embarrassment.
