What Did Jack Do? (2017)
Avant Garde
The existence of this short film makes me feel... happy? I don't know how to explain it, but it looks like it was made with so much passion that you can't help but feel in awe. This was most likely a script written after a hangover or under the influence of heavy drugs because there is no way in hell that this would be filmed any other way. But I like that. It's novel, original, authentic. It's more real than any movie you can find in your local cinema. It's raw. It's a satire of the detective genre through and through and it is evident that the writer(s) knows this. I'm just repeating myself at this point but this film has done what many things in life have failed. It made me feel a genuine and pure sense of joy. No jealousy, no doubting myself thinking whether I could do this, no putting myself through something because it is a 'classic'. I needed that.
Kim's Convenience (2016)
Great sitcom, especially for family viewing
I have been having trouble finding a sitcom to watch with my family, as most of them rely on either cheap jokes or more 'inappropriate' topics to get a laugh out of you. I think Kim's Convenience is a breath of fresh air in terms of that. I was really sad to hear that the show had finished but I guess it is better for the you, the most probably new viewer, reading this. I think it was a good decision as jokes may get too repetitive if a show goes on for too long (Ex. The Big Bang Theory). I liked how each character and each generation of characters have something different about them that makes them funny. I love the dynamic between the family and how, when necessary, the show takes the subject matter seriously. I don't know how to explain it too well, but it is one of my comfort shows for a reason. I strongly recommend it.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Honors The Franchise
I've been a fan of the Karate Kid trilogy. It was one of the first movies that made me feel like I was 'finally watching grown up movies'. I don't have nostalgia for the series as I was not around when the originals released, but I enjoyed them very much. And I think Cobra Kai does the trilogy a justice. I have watched 4 and a half seasons, as I didn't have enough time to finish the fifth just yet, but I think it's going great. To be frank, it has been falling off as of late since I feel like the same plot points are being repeated and the writers aren't changing much. I really hope to see something interesting in the second half of this new season as I have high expectations from the series and so far it has, although in a corny way at times, delivered well.
Super Crooks (2021)
It was fun
Well, it was fun. The story was nothing crazy and the characters weren't too complex bu this is the type of show to shut your brain off and watch. The designs were really nice and I loved the animation, it reminded me of 'The Great Pretender'. I liked how there were new characters being added to the story as time moved on so it wouldn't stagnate much. At times, it did feel as if the powers were too convenient for the situation but I guess it isn't too big a deal. I'm a big fan of superheroes and I feel like there is a lack of good superhero animation but in the last few years, series like 'Invincible' and well, 'Super Crooks' have done a good job. As I said, not a must-watch per se but I can guarantee you a good time.
Bullet Train (2022)
It was really fun
While I do acknowledge that the plot is weak, I really liked this movie. The fight scenes were something else, especially while watching it on the big screen. The choreography and the camera angles make the scenes very interesting and enjoyable to watch. On top of that, the characters were really distinct and unique, and I personally love it when a show/movie does this. It just gives each character much more, well, character so that you can actually root for them when they are winning, be sad when they're losing and overall feel what they feel much better. I also thought the whole yakuza thing was really cool. Even with all that, this movie isn't perfect. There were lots of plot conveniences that happened to get the characters precisely where they were and do what they did. It didn't feel natural most of the time. But it really isn't that type of movie. It's the type that you watch with friends and get a good laugh and fond memories out of. So yeah, I liked it.
The Good Place: Whenever You're Ready (2020)
This is my comfort show now
I have rewatched the show, start to finish. It's just my happy place -or rather good place-. The characters are really interesting and their chemistry is immaculate. Michael is just too good to be real. I like the themes that it touches on and how it can both be really goofy and really deep when it comes to it. I just like it.
IMDb on the Scene - Interviews: She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
Yeah, no.
This is going to be short and simple. I don't think that bragging about being the first one to break the 4th wall and pushing this idea so aggressively is how you break the 4th wall. Your character has to be the type and you have to make it so it's actually funny or interesting in a way rather than some random references to some characters.
The Good Place (2016)
A new look
The show was pretty alright but what was really nice for me is that it actually made me think. What will happen when I die? What consequences will my actions bring? It's these that made the show great for me. Also Janet is pretty cool.
Community (2009)
6 Seasons and A Movie!
Community is a show that has almost never bored me, except for the animated episodes. It was always fresh and new and had something up its sleeve. It never felt stagnant. It also has a special place in my heart for being the first sitcom I've ever watched. My only regret is watching it too fast. Cheers to the great writers, actors and crew for this amazing show.
Now You See Me (2013)
Not half bad
Now I gotta admit that the plot is not the best, farm from it. But it is fun when you see them trick the cops and do the cool stuff. I watched it with my little sister and she also seemed to like it. Great family film but I highly doubt it can go further than that.
