Boring from the get go
8 April 2024
My comments start with the picture for the advertisement which had me thinking is this what the movie is about saying Jake's stomach? Nothing more petrifying than that. I've seen the first one several times and I can't believe there's people on here that have never seen the first one. It's kind of a classic movie in this arena and not liking Patrick Swayze that much, I can say now that he did a great job in the original. In fact, I watched the original afterwards because I couldn't watch the rest of this one. It was just too lame for me. I usually know I am going to like a movie from the very beginning because it kinda has a way of pulling you in and causing you to ignore other distractions, which are easy to do with today's movies but I've never watched a movie that actually caused me to go back and watch the original to put a better taste in my mouth. Patrick rest in peace, my friend.

The Giant Slayer
14 October 2023
Every now and then you run across a hidden gem and this movie was certainly one of those and a pleasant surprise. The title of the movie is probably a little misleading, and in my opinion should've been called "the giant slayer". In many ways it characterizes the south and how it is here now, but many people have a totally different opinion, idea or view of how things are in the south but with the Lord's help, I believe that most of us in the south have come to appreciate and love one another. Trust me racism is still here but it's everywhere and I believe it's more prevalent in other places and especially in our large cities. I probably would have given the movie rating of 10 except that some agenda type information was put in the script that I really don't believe is true regarding the placement and effects of monuments. Monuments in my opinion, are very similar to prayers and they remind us of who we are and where we came from and they are illustrated vividly in the Bible as they were erected as reminders to the children of Israel of what God did for them and the request for his actions, help or guidance were solicited. This movie also shows us how the American dream still holds true for everyone no matter their skin color or their background as the real persons portrayed in this movie came from despot or meagher origins. It's another story that confirms the age old story of David and Goliath ie the "Giant Slayer" which Willie called himself.

One more F word
22 September 2023
Writers today seem to have no skills or imagination. I can think of a better choice of dialogue besides using a plethora of F words. I keep asking myself can you charge Hollywood for contributing to the delinquency of a minor when they have him subjected to F words and using other forms of profanity. One choice for a more excellent dialogue would have been, What the hell did the forensic accountant find and why didn't we hear something from the main character when she read the note? That would've been a good time for the writers to tell the audience who was eagerly waiting for something on what he found but alas, we were never informed. Also, what was the reason for the flashbacks which seem to contribute nothing to the movie plot or story other than she watched some little children burn to death. Get over it smokejumper and what the hell is a smokejumper? At first, I thought the movie might pay tribute to firefighters or policeman, but in this film, they turned out to be hoodlums with F bombs and police officers who got shot up pretty bad. If anything, it seem to pay tribute to ex military hires for kill but we never knew who they were, who hired them and why? I thought we were going to get some kind of a wet T-shirt near the end at least but I forgot she had those cut off several years ago. Another bait and switch.

Wicked out
12 August 2023
With the high rating, I thought wow! I must be in for another great story very similar possibly, I hoped, to the first John Wick, but boy has the franchise gone down the drain. If a movie like this is going to get a rating over five or six, it's got to have a thread of romance or an excellent story written into it but I quit watching this garbage about halfway through. I got tired of the same old same ole invincible guy that was bullet proof, knife proof, fist proof, and unless you're a karate fanatic and/or you like violence in itself, you're not going to like this movie at all. At the moment, I can't even tell you what the movie was about other than a guy beating up everybody with his invincible self and his karate expertise. It's sucked in my opinion. I mean in the first movie, they killed his dog and that's enough of a story for me to hang on and see the guy get revenge.

Genuine modern day Rom-Com worth watching
14 July 2023
A modern day movie that's worth watching without all the agenda laden nonsense. At least, it wasn't as noticeable. A normal picture show with normal people and normal families. Emma Roberts looked amazing in this rom-com with her hair down because I didn't recognize her from the picture shown here on IMDb. This movie had so much potential and could've been so much more if it wasn't for the corny fight scene at the wedding. That scene almost lost me and it should have been a little more believable but it was so fake and why have a fight scene at all if you're not going to go all out. Another example of how one can make a great motion picture without all the profanity and sex.

Heroic story
26 June 2023
Finally, a movie worth watching! I haven't sat down and watched a movie on the edge of my seat for a long time. I actually watched it twice. They're easy to make because there's plenty of good material out there but we've been inundated with agenda laden crap. These are the kinds of stories that we Americans need to see about real courageous men in real situations of life and death, and how to honestly handle those situations with American integrity. It's nice to see that integrity still exist perhaps hidden, but it still exist. The setting and the acting were all extraordinary in my opinion especially that of Dar (Ahmed) and Gyllenhaal. Ahmed was an extraordinary person as well and his courage and tenacity were immeasurable. It's certainly sad and shameful the way that we abandon these people, our friends and our soldiers in August 2021. As a nation, we will answer for the murders committed by the Taliban on judgment day.

Missing depth
29 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to watching this movie and it's portrayal of a black man's struggle to get to the position of an aviator flying Corsairs in the Korean War. I'm sure they were much greater than what we saw, and it looks as though he may have had a psychological struggle from something in his past as well, but we never really did get to know what that was. We really didn't get to know very much about him and his dream but we did get to know his family, his wife and the psycho-scene at the mirror. What brought that on and why did he have this episode in front of the mirror. We know that he probably had several racial obstacles to overcome but what about emotional struggles that apparently must've been there. We didn't get to know any of these people very well. Why did Tom Befriend Jesse? What was his background as opposed to the marine? Where did Tom and Jesse come from? Why did Tom act the way he did? He was different but why? Why did Tom get the congressional medal of honor? I didn't see anything he did to really earn that metal. Sure he was brave by crashing his plane to help his friend but there wasn't any depth to any person in the movie or any depth that showed why they got to where they did. Near the end of the movie, they showed Tom rip the Congressional Medal of Honor from around his neck and I was expecting him to give that to Jesse's wife, but it never did tell why he did that. Was he intending to give that to her or was it just bothering him bc it was uncomfortable around his neck? I hope in a decade or so that someone will redo this movie and put some depth to it but for now it's kind of mediocre and I struggled to give it a 6.

Remembering Dad
2 December 2022
I'm an older man now and my dad has passed on but this movie reminds me of him. He loved ping pong and we used to play all the time when we could. It doesn't seem to matter how many times I watch this movie and every time I do, I have the same emotional responses that is I cry numerous times. One of the most vivid memories I have of my dad was having a sand battle on the beach in Pensacola when I was a boy. I would have requested to spend my last time with him that way. But what a lovely movie about loving family and caring for one another and the wisdom of living each day slowly with kindness, gentleness, compassion and empathy guiding us. This is one of the few movies I come back and watch all the time and I never get tired of watching it. It's a good reminder of what life is really all about which to me is loving family and others around you.

Assignment from God
20 November 2022
When I watch a movie that's NOT interesting to me or does not interest me, I will play board games or get on social media and just kind of pay attention because they're not hard to follow anyway. This movie did interest me quite a bit and when it does, I will sit up and pay close attention to everything that's said and done and I will get emotionally involved. Gerard, Michelle and Michael are great Actors and they can make a movie even better bc they put themselves into the story. I've seen several movies about people like Sam that get an assignment and that's the very heartbeat of their entire life. This seems to happen in circumstances where people meet and are subject to horrific and unbelievable situation's or they have been murdered along with several others and their killer has not been found and they will not rest until justice is served. Sam is definitely one of those people and he had an assignment from God. But how many of us know that at times we've gone to far and whatever it is possesses us to the point where it's destroying our lives and the lives of people we love around us. Thank God Sam was rescued by an angel that came to him in the night and opened his eyes.

True to everyday life
31 October 2022
I don't care whether this is Australian in origin or American in origin bc it's actually human nature in it's basic definition which is good, bad and very ugly.

This took me back to my hometown with all of it's familiar human characters most of whom should be in prison.

I'll have to agree with the last 30 minutes probably being what would've been a great movie out of contention for an Oscar but they have become political like everything else.

The writers should have found some way of weaving the bad characters out in the open before the young man leaped into the grain silo. It would have been a good place to end the movie. I'm not sure why everyone was dressed up going to another town to be in a play at the end but that's where I kind of zoned out and stopped paying attention. The movie really came to a climax when the young man leaped in the silo and was forever lost. I'm not sure why the movie had to make such a big deal out of the curse rather than turning what happened to her into a victory and a blessing for her and her soon to be much younger husband. It could've showed them driving off into the sunset living happily ever after. I think that's what most people look for in a movie ie it's an escape that takes them to a heavenly ending rather than a cursed one.

Sweet Movie
18 October 2022
Finally something of substance that actually held my attention the entire movie. I've watched so much garbage these days and I either turn the movie off or get distracted easily because nothing has any substance or truth or reality to it. I didn't realize the Aborigines were such beautiful people because I hardly see them and it was a pleasant surprise to actually see them. I can see why the Aussie's are offended by us Yanks calling this a western. It's really a movie that shows the Australian people where they've come from and how goodness and kindness prevailed over evil beliefs and practices.

What an EL-mess
7 October 2022
I was so looking forward to watching this movie about Elvis and his music, his service, love life and his rise to fame but instead I got a bona-fide mess. That's the only way I can describe this movie. The kid did a good job of acting but it seemed disjointed and hard to connect with him and the story. I could really care less about Colonel Parker and I couldn't stand to even here him talk and we all know about his conman antics but I guess if you have Tom Hanks, you have to find something for him to do. Perhaps it could have been a story told from Pricilla's side instead of Parker's. It was such a disappointment that I quit watching and never finished. I'm looking forward to a much better movie that I can connect with and enjoy his story.

Flatline with no pulse
12 September 2022
This movie never really grabbed my soul and emotions probably because there was no character development to speak of. He had no history that we knew of and there was no real storyline other than he use to be that way but we don't know why. There isn't an antagonist person developed other than he sang in a club and to be a protagonist you really have to in my opinion have a reason to be one other than looking for his daughters bracelet. There was certainly no love story at all just a boring man married to a boring woman with a boring dad and a boring setting which left the movie a flatline to me. I might watch it one time which I have and never again.

Viking Smiking unliking
16 July 2022
I would have given it a one but I stopped watching it about 25 minutes in. I guess you could say I'm not a big fan of the Vikings and I'm really glad they're gone. They look like a bunch of pagan people bent on all the same sins we have today but there's are more extreme. Movies like this that are trying to show us what these people were like. I really don't care what they were like but what's the point with this movie? It's the same old hell-bent on getting revenge for my daddy who was beheaded in front of me. Where is the entertainment factor?

Noah and the Rock people?
27 June 2022
Noah is by far the worst movie I've ever seen and probably the worst representation of the Scriptures. It has absolutely nothing in common with the Bible other than Noah's name. The screen riders must have been on psychedelic drugs while they were cooking up this very strange story. How does one mess up a great story like this so bad when it was already written for you and there's so many hidden nuggets of wisdom to impart and exploit to your audience. It reminds me of a movie I made in high school for a class credit and it was absolutely terrible.

Not a Tarantino
21 May 2022
I saw a comment in here that this was an English version of a Quentin Tarantino movie by director Guy Richie but I would compare it to his worst movies. I quit watching this movie more than halfway through just couldn't stomach anymore. Perhaps others like this style but it was too chopped up for me and all over the place. It never grabbed me or kept me interested. I might come back and see if there was something wrong with me that night but I doubt it. I really like Hugh Grant and I was looking forward to his part in the movie but that too was a disappointment because the English man that he portrayed was evidently from the backwoods of London and it made him look and sound stupid. Matthew is always good at playing anything sleazy because it seems to come natural to him and he didn't disappoint.

Not for the enemies of God
9 April 2022
This is a wonderful movie that the Lord has used several times to encourage me and show me what life could be like if I were living in places where the government is God. At one time, America was a Judeo Christian country but it's long past that now so there are many critics now and God haters on here putting down the movie. The only reason I didn't give it a 10 is bc of the quality of the filming but it's a great story by a great woman of God and it really blessed me. Don't worry God haters, it won't be long before you meet your maker and I hope you're ready.

Lean dialogue no purpose
8 April 2022
I found myself trying to put words in Tobias's mouth when he spoke, when he tried to speak or didn't speak. What was the movie about some sad stupid young kid believing in a religion that murders innocent people to get back at civilization. Perhaps it's the people who believe that doing under others as you would have them do unto you and living in peace with their neighbors is far better than destruction and murder.

Pure Sci-Fy
3 April 2022
If you're not a sci-fi fan, you're probably not gonna like this movie. If you're a film or a movie critic, you're probably not gonna like this movie either. So if you're looking for a good entertaining enjoyable Sci-fly movie to sit down and watch without any profanity or one night stands etc. You'll love this movie. It's one of the few movies these days that I can sit down and watch and not get up until the end except for a couple of snacks that is bc they are much more enjoyable with something decent and good to watch.

Disappointing
28 January 2022
After reading some of the reviews, I hoped the remake of Dune would be a pleasant surprise from the remakes I've seen before but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. This version had no character, depth, it was dull and boring and just a lousy movie. I turned it off halfway through and went to bed having no interest to see the remaining part. Now I can purchase the old one and enjoy it even more. The special effects were disappointing as well and I would've thought by this time there would be much improvement but this took a step back to 60s technology. Save your money and watch the old version again and enjoy knowing you are not missing anything.

Inspiring and encouraging
25 January 2022
I love history and I love inspirational stories like this. I wish we could have know more about her personal relationship with what I hope was Jesus Christ because they gave us a little bit and it was enough to make you think there was much more but I think there's much more. They called her by another well know patriarch. My family was part of the Underground Railroad and I'm so proud of that and I have others preparing a place for me to. I hope to meet her some day.
