Dear White People (2017)
I don't think "NCIS: Race Relations" would be well reviewed either . . . .
I avoided watching this show ONLY because I had seen the movie and thought it would mar my memory of it. Surprisingly, it is better. The one star reviews I am sure come from the critics who either haven't watch the show due to its title alone, or rather not face the discomfort of being reminded that racism still exists, or - even worst, - think that DW's Birth of a Nation script wasn't all that bad. Look how the star ratings are skewed on the demographic chart. Ya love it or ya hate it. Kinda like how racism is generally tolerated in Trump's America. No surprise that 45+ year olds don't care for this show. The show is well written, exposes hypocrisy, and pokes fun at race (white *AND* black), sex, sexual preference, class, and the Ivy League institutions. I dare anyone out there to point to another non-news show that directly takes on race relations in America. I guess the controversial title at least got some to watch . . . .
Sprung (1997)
Starts off funeeee . . .
This movie starts off hilariously . . . then tapers off into less laughs. This is unlike one of the director's other films, Fear of a Black Hat, where the humor was constant throughout the movie. Some good one liners and physical comedy but you *have* to see the police line-up scene with John Witherspoon. Truly funny!

Blazing Saddles (1974)
Wonderful and thoroughly funny!
Howard Johnson is right! This is a great film and no sidewindin, bushwackin, hornswaglin, cracker croaker is gonna tell me otherwise. Of course the movie is dated now, but in the 70's, humor regarding race, homosexuality and even bodily emissions were daring and touchy subjects that in turn packed huge comedic wallop. This movie will always be a 10 to me. It is one of my favorites. But rather than convince anyone, I will excuse myself now. I have to go back and get a whole ****load of dimes.
