Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
6/10?! C'mon seriously?
Wow this movie sucked. Wow wow wow. Just wow. The 2 villains in this "production" are comical(not in a good way) and I'm pretty sure they're each missing a chromosome.
I was able to stay somewhat entertained until the scene where Angelina Jolie tells the stupid kid to take turns with her running and diving into the grass through the lighning field. Wtf was that supposed to be? It was all downhill from there.
I would be offended watching this if I was a hot shot. What a lame portrayal of a bad ass profession mixed with a bunch of terrible acting and stupid themes.
How does this have a 6/10 rating? 6/10 used to mean something...
Black Mirror: Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too (2019)
Worst rendition of a NIN cover ever
The episode has some "ok" things going for it as far as black mirror episodes go. Unfortunately the music is not one of those things. Not surprising considering the "singer" celebrity is played by Miley Cyrus. In one especially off-putting scene, she's playing the piano while butchering NIN's "where it belongs". It's so bad that I had to mute the TV when she started adding random pop lyrics to it. It's portrayed as her work in the episode as she claims it came from "her stream of consciousness"... Later while she's in a coma, the evil aunt uses the song again, but adds different lyrics that is just totally garbage spliced together by whoever was hired to do the music for this episode(possible Miley herself which would explain the lack of quality and originality).
No Exit (2022)
Painfully stupid
Terrible movie. Could have been good, but the storyline is just so dumb and full of inconsistencies that I found myself getting annoyed at every single character. Not a single likeable one in the bunch, villain or otherwise.
The USMC references were cringe and I was especially irritated at the lady with the "debbie" voice rerorting to a guy saying "thank you for your service". She said it was akin to saying "thoughts and prayers" as if veterans don't appreciate the support... And what's up with the cordless nail gun with an endless supply of air pressure shooting out car windows and tires at 30 feet?
Just dumb, all of it. I don't know how it has a 6/10. A solid 4.2 imo, but I gave it 3 to help balance the universe.
Come and Find Me (2016)
Don't understand the low reviews
I really enjoyed this movie. Very few things to complain about, except maybe the abrupt ending. It would have been nice to understand what happened, but maybe the mystery was intentional. In any case, great film with good actors 👍 👍
Into the Dark: Flesh & Blood (2018)
Into the dark B roll
Not sure why Hulu can't spend the money and get real music in these installments. Instead it's cringe worthy songs by whoever pitched to their friend at hulu at the right time or equally cringey covers that make me feel embarrassed for the singer.
The dad in this one annoys me with his over the top forced masculinity-mostly the over exaggerated raspy voice.
Aftermath (2021)
Very sub-par
I find the characters immediately unlikable, and the acting is so awful, it makes it a chore to watch. This was in the top ten list on Netflix so I gave it a shot, but I'm guessing the director is friends with the guy who puts the list together, otherwise it is so beyond me that a large amount of people would consider this watchable let alone "good".
Abandoned (2010)
How do movies like this make it anywhere?
20 minutes in, the acting is so forced and the camera work plays so much like a CBS soap opera that it is very hard to watch. There have been very similar movie plots in the past which makes me think the producer was "inspired" and this whole thing was "thrown together".
Black Mirror: Playtest (2016)
Top 5 black mirror episodes
This one grew on me. As black mirror is probably my favorite anthology series and one of my favorite overall shows, I've seen every episode multiple times.
The first time I watched playtest, I was pretty underwhelmed. The plot seemed ok, but I found the acting annoying to the point where it was actually distracting. The main character seems to have a habit of following the same format of speech almost every time he asks a question. Example- "how big, how big is big ben?". It feels repetitive and forced when it keeps happening without an obvious speech impediment.
It bothers me less now after seeing the episode a few times. The corny/cheesy American jokes also wore on me the first time or two, but eventually I really came around to appreciate the plot and even the acting.
It's fun to pick things up I missed the first few times, and the producer really seems to enjoy layering themes and foreshadowing in subtle yet effective ways. Hoping for a new season soon!
