Nah...didn't do it for me
12 November 2018
I didn't really go for this film. Perhaps it was because I missed the first 15 minutes but I really was disappointed in the plot...it just seemed to fall flat. I mean, there was one good twist that I didn't see coming, but I don't think they really worked it properly. I won't reveal it but I'm sure you can easily guess - I personally have never been very good at that. The last film that I saw with Neeson (Commuter), I went to see twice within a week of each other. I thought that was more edgy and tense with several great twists and I satisfying ending. This film, I'd be hard pressed to watch again.

Great horror film - ruined by bad ending
12 November 2018
This was a great film that had me startling and jumping in my seat throughout...however it was spoiled by a really bad ending. It was left open ended as I think is usual for these Halloween films, still I found it very weak considering that the rest of the film was so good.

Terrible

I had so many high expectations for this film going in. I thought that the fact it was attached to Idris Elba meant that surely it would be stellar. Sadly that was certainly not the case...I was constantly waiting for the film to start moving at a pace but it just kept dragging. It's no wonder that it has such limited showtimes at cinemas (my experience). I would advise waiting until this comes out on DVD and pick it up cheaply. Don't waste your hard earned cash to see it...luckily I didn't have to pay!!

Venom (2018)
10/10
Awesome (anti) superhero movie
3 October 2018
I went to this film with no real expectation beyond knowing that Tom Hardy was playing in the main role and Venom is from the Spider-verse. I walked away thinking what a fabulous job had been done to bring good mixture of action and comedy. I really enjoyed this film and am unsure why people would have rated it down. I've heard some say the acting was sub-par, that is not something I noticed to be honest. I don't go to these types of movies expecting Oscar worthy performances, but to be entertained for an hour or so. This film achieved that easily and surpassed expectations. I even had a few laughs thrown in for good measure. If you are on the fence about whether to see this film, I would recommend you go see it - you're not likely to regret it. Also, I'm 80% there is going to be an epic sequel sometime in the not too distant future! -Update; I went to see the film again for a second time...still hit the spot! Great soundtrack and there's a short clip about an upcoming animation film featuring some characters from the Spider-verse. It is literally buried right at the end of the credits (would have missed it unless I had to been told wait for it, so I'm paying it forward).
