Great Marketing for Decent Movie That Has No 'Shock Ending'
20 February 2003
Warning: Spoilers
Small spoilers. I attended a preview last night of The Life of David Gale and I went home satisfied but not the kind of satisfied I was hoping. Parker's film has great acting and a interesting plot but as it moves on it loses something. The film did lack suspense for the most part. If you're interested in this film like I was you probably saw the commerical that had a critic say it had a ending that would blow your mind. It didn't blow my mind. I pretty much had it figured out once one of the main plot developments are revealed. A good ending that adds more drama to the film but the way the film went I didn't open my mouth in shock like I did watching Memento or The Sixth Sense.

I do agree that Spacey is Oscar worthy here. Winslet is great with her American accent and Linney has another fine performance. Believable film, but just lacked suspense. Perhaps if someone tried to stop Kate's character from revealing the truth instead of aiding her it would've been better. The music didn't seem to fit with the film. It had a southern style and while the film is in Texas it just didn't fit the pic. Their are some attempts at humour that work, but most fail. I tip my hat to the Universal Marketing Department.

Rental.

NBC version was great, Comedy Central version was okay
3 January 2003
Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn was the name of the Comedy Central show and at times it was a tough crowd. Quite a few jokes bombed, mostly from Colin. Nick usually had the better jokes than the other comedian guests. Jerry Seinfeld and Sarah Silverman stopped by as guests. His Ethnic Countdown was the best idea on the show.

The NBC version was much better. Live, from SNL's studio, along with Tina Fey as a writer. Sort sketch, and a variety of comedians telling them what's on their mind. Filled with a variety of great ethnic jokes. This version would be better suited for Comedy Central.

E! True Hollywood Story: Jaws (2002)

A Must See
9 July 2002
If you enjoyed the film Jaws, see this. The great film that changed the way movies were made was almost never released. From watching this you have to wonder why it even was finished. I knew they had troubles but this movie like many people on the show say was a war. Later it talks about the success and failure of the sequels and where everyone is. Has some interviews of Shaw and Spielberg from 1974 but other than that they are all new interviews with everyone from the writers to the stars to the producers to Steven himself.

Great Film, Spidey Slightly Better - Real Fans Will Get It
17 May 2002
Exceeded expectations. Really just a different Star Wars movie. The others very different from this. Episode I - Stop the blockade and invasion. Episodes IV,VI - Destroy Death Star Episode V - Run from Empire.

Has great forshadowing, shows us the unseen stuff and that Palpatine is a genius. If I had a choice between seeing Spider-Man 2 or Episode III I'd go with III. Spider-Man is a better film, but Episode II makes Episodes IV-VI much better and Spidey can't do it.

Words can not describe how great this is. My favourite film of all time. I just saw it and it should win the Oscar for Best director, actor (Pearce) and film.

Favourite Film Of All Time, makes POTA'68 more enjoyable too
16 September 2001
This film is the best one I've ever seen. I don't see what is so bad about this. I even enjoy the first film even more. The movie has everything: laughs, effects, cool costumes/makeup, huge sets, great acting (estella warren was okay), terrific music, direction and a great ending! Giving it a 10, and I don't care what you say.
