San Andreas Quake (2015)
It's not that bad, but not that good.
So, brand new earthquake film just before another major production in the same genre and pretty much the same story (Age of Tomorrow anyone?) but this one is not that bad.
The story is pretty solid, the characters are developed, and acted fine (and not more then fine, actually, quite often is less then fine) effects are again, what you might expect from low budget film but again, not really bad. The pace is also good, although little high for my taste, writers and directors could add some details to the story.
What really troubles about this film is the lack of attention to details, after the first few minutes its really becomes annoying. Really Mr. Baumgartner, try harder next time, when people are looking at tablet screen, touch it and talk about what they see, the screen should be ON and not dark black OFF, same with the laptop, same with the smartphone, when someone makes a call, the screen shows numbers on it, names, graphics, anything!
Also, that part with the airplane crushing on the helicopter right after take off, doesn't make any sense at all, and right after, the characters just moves on as nothing happened.
So to wrap it up, what really killed this film for me was the lack of attention, big holes in story, and the often bad acting. The main story is solid, effects are fine.
The Redwood Massacre (2014)
If you like bad, this is the one for you.
To be honest, I haven't read any reviews before watching this thing, shame I haven't. This movie is complete junk, there's no horror in it, the gore is bad and is only slightly better then the lame text.
Now lets start, the movie doesn't bring anything new to the screen, it follow a pattern of other movies like it. Friends going to the wood, gets killed, end of story. However, other movies following this pattern might bring better effects, better dialogue and much better actors. You can pretty much see this movie is junk right at the start when you hear the sound of the knife and few seconds later, the axe, is the same sound. So they took the same audio file and just copy & paste it every time, they didn't bothered to even slightly change the pitch, speed or EQ (something that can be done in almost every free audio software out there) yes, it's that bad.
As I said the dialogues offers nothing new, and the players reading them are just MEH. All monotonic, without highs and lows, all in the same pace one word after the other.
Now lets see some more. In the part when they all sit around the fire and someone tells the story, how can someone screw in this one? I have no idea, they might sit next to the fire, but there's no read evidence for that, the light source is not the fire, or the moon (which supposed to be full) but from external light source, just normal light bulb from the set, dear director, how high were you when filming this one?
Still, I watched it to the end, I actually thought it might bring something in the end, but no. Just the big old disappointment. One last thing, one of the characters had fake eyebrows (painted, or what ever they ladies call it) it was ugly, ugly ugly ugly. Even with that the crew screwed up.
So really, do yourself a favor, don't watch, don't think I might get better at the end, they dialogue is not getting better, the gore is not getting better, the and characters are not evolving and the killer will still be super lame version of Jason Voorhees.
Hotel Inferno (2013)
This is not a movie
Well, you can call it a movie, but it's not. It's just, nothing really. It start with some gore, continue with more gore, and ends with gore. The dialogue is artificial, nothing you really hear in the real world, seems like the actors trying to play something they can't, they just don't fit into the roles.
You can tell from the beginning how it's going to end, in fact, you can tell the whole "movie" from the first picture of it. There are no surprises, no climax and you can't even call the soundtrack a soundtrack, it just doesn't fit to the movie.
Don't bother yourself with this one, it's a complete waste of one hour and 17 minutes. Better watch some cartoons.
Animus (2013)
waste of time
This movie was a complete waste of 83 minutes, not including the popcorn. It starts nice, cool story bro. But that about it. You think there's going to be a story, and a good one because it begins really nice, but there is no story, there is no line, it's just nothing.
Bad acting, no real story, funny dead puppets.
Complete waste of time, don't bother. If you want some horror and/or gore, this movie is not for you. In fact, this movie is not for anyone. There are ghosts in this movie, but they are not doing anything and not relating to the story. There is a killer there, but who, what, where, or anything about him, is unknown. You can make some connections in your mind, but you can't say if you're right or wrong because there is no story, only a beginning of one.
So really, don't waste your time on it, better watch Power Rangers all over again.
