Hunter x Hunter: This Person × and × This Moment (2014)
What a masterpiece. Only one thing i could point out in an otherwise perfect episode
This episode is a masterpiece. I Will say as a critisiscm that this is the first time ive gotten legitimately Angry at an episode preview. We have one of the most emotional and maticulously built up moments in the entire Series on screen, and with No time to sink in, it cuts directly to the Main theme. Why was this decision made in this otherwise masterpiece. In this episode that is some of the best that anime Can offer, the tone shifts so rapidly at the end that it Can temporarily ruin the mood completely. My point is that the episode would have been better off either without the episode preview, cutting to hyori Ittai, or straight up just Cut to Silence and give it 10 more seconds to sink in. Still crying, but thats beside the point.
Boku no hîrô akademia (2016)
Pretty damn Good and enjoyable shounen to Watch if you dont know what Series to start next
I Will start out by saying that Endeavour and mirio are two of the absolute best characters i have seen in anime. 7/10 is a good rating. It means that this show is very good. Not a masterpiece, but definetely good.
The Series is good overall and it has moments that are among the most memorable acroos modern anime, but yet there is something about deku i just cant get my head behind. Something about his character just seems off to me? Its hard to explain What it is exactly but i Think Its the same trait that makes me dislike a character such as shirou emiya. The need to put others above themselves at all times with No consequenses whatsoever. Its probably a bit more than that. Things such as Him being the one to recieve OFA when mirio exists contribute to that fact as well. My favorite deku moment in the Series so far is without a doubt his fight with todoroki. That is also my favorite todoroki moment. This is Where the problem comes in. Todoroki has that one moment, and his character becomes stale. Now his arc is complete. This is were Endeavour shines. Endeavour keeps on developing during the run of the whole thing. Most of class A honestly seem like props and not characters. Sure some of Them have unique and "quirky"( see What i did there) personallities, but some of Them are just there. They dont do anything and function only as comic relief or props.
All that being Said, lemillion is without a doubt, my favorite episode of the Series. Mirio togata embodies What a true hero should be. He quite litterally sacrificed everything that he worked for (unlike others) to save a single life. "Lemillion to save a million". He gave up on that Dream to save a single one. For some reason that just seems different than What deku has to offer. Its probably because there are not Any consequenses for dekus actions. Yeah bakugou gets taken away, but They pretty much instantly rescues him. All might was the one that faced consequenses for that. Not deku.
The show is good. If you have not watched it yet and are new to anime i recommend it a lot. Its a good starter to get you into anime.
Edit:
Ok those two episodes of season five were amazing. If youve seen the show you know What im talking about. Add shigaraki to the list and put him next to mirio.
It probably goes up to like a 7,7-8/10 from having added another amazing character to Its roster, but i dont really know if i should change my rating to an 8 and put it on par with something like death note..
(I didnt really like the second half of death note. This is Why Its not a 9-10/10)
Super Dragon Ball Heroes (2018)
Its just bad
Im well aware that this is meant only as fan service and promotional material, but that does not mean that the writing of the show has to suck. Nothing makes sense in this show. Time Patrol goku and vegeta shows up at one point, watches a fight, and Then leaves. Why. Why do They even show up. The powerscaling in this Series is so abysmal that a character like boujack goes Toe to toe with turles.
Game of Thrones (2011)
I am not mad. Just dissapointed
Game of thrones seasons 1-4 is probably some of, if not THE absolute best television i have ever seen. BUT
When only half the show is great i cant give it a 9- or 10/10. Season 5 truly is a mediocre season. Probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. Perhaps a 6,5 in some areas. Then we get to season 6. Season six is without a doubt the most controversial season of the show overall. In my opinion, 70% of it is meh, 20% trash, and 10% best television ever made. I dont really like season six, but i dont hate it either. There was just some decisions made during production that makes No sense from neither a storytelling or a character perspective.
Now. The Meat and potatoes. Season 7 is absolutely horrendous. No, i do not want to listen to People that say that 8 is the only terrible season from a writing standpoint. Its not. They both suck ass. The only reasons that 8 is worse is because 1: Its the finale and it sucked. 2: People were getting their hopes up quite a lot for season 8 only to have Them shattered In a more obvious Way. Once you stop to Think, season 7 becomes almost as bad. People teleporting, characters being reduced to nothing.
Season 8 is the same as season seven, only Its the final season so the argument could easily have been made that Its worse, but not only in the quality of writing. Every character that had not already been thrown out of the window in the span of season 5-7 gets thrown out the window in season 8. The only character that you could even Argue has a good and or satisfying conclusion is theon. And even his death was dumb. The man runs to his death instead of standing his Ground and at least trying to defend bran (the absolute disaster of a character) a little longer.
If you need actual examples of the terrible nonsense that dumb and dumber calls writing, all you need to do is turn your brain on when watching season 8
Sorry if i came of as agressive in the end. I just get so sad whenever i Think of What the show could have been, had They stuck to the books.
Sword Art Online (2012)
The abridged Series did it better
SAO is an anime that i enjoyed a few years back. When i was dumb. If you stop to analyse the show AND the game the show takes place In, nothing makes sense. Kawahara obviously never played an mmo before, and his writing is incredibly creative but flawed in so Many ways. For example, the character of Kirito is bland. He gets over his guild dying in 2-3 episodes and it had No effect on the main story whatsoever. Kirito is as bland as a character Can get. Asuna was the only character i legitimatley enjoyed seeing on screen, as she was the only one with a personallity.
Now. Their romance. Kirito and asunas relationship is Way to mature for their age. They take in a daughter after having Been together for What 2 weeks? That aside, They play Ok of eachother, and if the show was about their romance in the game it would probably have grotten a 5/10 instead of a 3/10.
The voice acting is great though.
In comes the absolutely amazing Series that is SAO abridged. I am not kidding. It is litterally a great show. Probably a 8-9/10, which is Way more than i Can say about the original. The abridged version completely fixes both Kirito and asuna, and while doing that makes their romance feel more real. They only kept yui around as a pawn for their mindgames in the beginning when They both thought that getting Married was an idiotic idea. Little did They know yui was using Them as pawns to reach her goal as well.
Yui is a problem to the integrety of the story in the original. She undermines the plot completely, and you ask yourself. Why didnt Kirito shut Down the servers of SAO when He hacked into the admin panel? He litterally had the lives of thousands of People in his hands and He did What. He saved an ai He met a month ago.
How Come He was able to hack into the admin pannel to begin with?
Are we just to accept that the man has every skill you Can Think of that would ever be neccesarry in a game like SAO except cooking?
"Its been so Long. I dont remember anymore". This Line. This goddam Line. Tell me you were actually satisfied when kayaba Said this. What even is that. "Oh well i couldnt Come up with a reason for my villain to be evil, so i just made it look like He forgot it"
Now SAO abridged plays of his motivation as a joke. Having him accidentally create the glitch that makes players die in the real world because He had a deadline that He needed to stick to. And you know What? It fkn works. It works so well in fact, that you not only cry out with laughter, but upon watching it again, you actually get quite a lot of understanding of the character that is kayaba, which the original could not acomplish.
Now the reason that this show recieves 3 stars instead of 1 or 2 is because Its impossible to say that this looks bad in Any Way. SAO was Way ahead of Its time when it came to visuals. The landscapes are absolutely stunning, and the animation is stellar through the whole thing.
But good animation cant make up for ass writing
Sorry for the Long rant. I am just so frustrated about this show and Its potential.
And dont even get me started on alfheim. I do not want to touch that piece of garbage ever again (except the abridged one. That one's good)
