One of the funniest damn things I've seen in a long time!
23 October 2003
"Bringing Up Baby" has been on my list of "to see" films for a long time, and as I had a free evening the other day, I decided to watch it! I'm a great fan of Cary Grant, and I thought he was brilliant as the babbling anthropologist David Huxley, and he made me incessantly giggle throughout the whole film whether or not it was supposed to be funny! In my opinion though, the funniest bit in the whole film was in the party scene quite near the beginning, when Susan Vance (Katharine Hepburn) is being taught a trick using olives by the bartender. She was supposed to flick an olive into her mouth, but she missed and it landed on the floor. As she tries to pick up the olive off the floor, you see Cary Grant walk in and slip on the olive and fall flat on his back! It was hilarious! Perfectly timed, and wonderfully well done! I have to admit that I am the sort of person who rewinds certain amusing incidents and watch them over and over again, and I had to watch that bit many times, and it just kept getting funnier each time! If you haven't seen Bringing up Baby, please watch it, as it is really entertaining, and I'm sure you'll love it as I do! It is an impeccably timed screwball-comedy with fine acting performances and hilarious direction from Howard Hawks. Absolutely brilliant; ***** out of 5

Some people are so cynical!
24 May 2003
After reading some of the other user comments, I think that too many people are just cynical about films like these. Seriously, who cares about how well the characters are developed etc, or how many faults there are? People should stop nit-picking and just sit back and enjoy the film. If I wanted to go and see a film with well-developed, emotive characters, I would have gone to see a long boring biographical drama or something, like Erin Brokovich.

There has been a lot of hype leading up to the Matrix Reloaded, and I have to say that I enjoyed the film a lot. I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, and it was very different to what I thought it would be, but I enjoyed it all the same. If, however, the film was a lot more like the first one, it would have just been repetitive.

I think that people should stop moaning about films because of stupid, insignificant flaws and just enjoy the film!

Great stuff!

I don't care what anyone else says, I thought that this adaptation was better than the film. I was expecting great things of the film having heard so many great reviews of it, but in fact I was rather disappointed with the film having seen this adaptation first. I felt that this adaptation was really cool!

Hans Matheson is so sweet!
1 December 2002
I have not seen the Omar Sharif/Julie Christie version of Dr Zhivago, so I do not have anything to compare it too. If the original version is better than this one, it must be REALLY good as this version is brilliant. Hans Matheson is lovely, and I am absolutely in love with him. I also think that Kris Marshall is wonderful, and has shown a completely different side to himself after being in "My Family", in which he is hilarious.

Evolution (2001)
Play that funky music, white boy!
1 December 2002
From reading the comments of this film from other people who have seen it, and I know a lot of them didnt like it, but I thought it was really funny. The whole cast was hilarious, especially Seann William Scott who I think is wonderful. He never ceases to make me laugh, no matter how many times I watch this film, especially the scenes where he and David Duchovny and Orlando Jones are trying the film the giant alien bird in the department store, where S.W.S. attempts to find the creature by calling "heeeere birdy birdy birdy birdy, birdy, ca caw, ca caw, ca caw" and then starts to sing "You are so beautiful to me" in a microphone, which is shortly followed by a rendition of "Play that funky music white boy". I think the people who have seen this film and think it's rubbish, take things to seriously. It's supposed to be a bit stupid, thats what makes it so funny.

It should be number one!
30 March 2002
I've seen this incredible artistic work of genius twice now, and I intend to see it again. I was very amazed that it wasn't #1 in the top 250 films list, and was overtaken by the inferior Godfather (I know many people will probably disagree with me on this one) and the Shawshank Redemption. I thought the standard of acting was fantastic, and Peter Jackson is a marvel. It utterly deserves to be placed in higher rank that the Godfather, a violent, crude film. However, I do agree that the Godfather is a well made film, but it is such a shame because of the content. The Lord of the Rings is wonderful, and appeals to practically anyone. It deserves all the praise it receives, but definitely none of the censure. I cannot wait till the next part comes out, and it does the anticipation justice.

Excellent!
6 January 2002
This adaptation of the novel is dramatic and exciting, whilst there is just a hint of humour. David Suchet portrays the monstrous character of Melmotte exceedingly well, but the main essence of brilliancy was contributed by Andrew Davies, who never ceases to amaze me with his marvellous screenplays, Pride and Prejudice being my all-time favourite. The supporting cast was stunning and the locations suited the scenes well. This is one of the best adaptations since Pride and Prejudice. Excellent!
