Good movie, Bad Ending
28 April 2024
This film had all the attributes of being a great western with such a good original story to capitalise on. I always enjoy to see Russell Crowe, a great New Zealand actor and Christian Bale, a very much underrated actor, Ben Foster was brilliant as was the real villain, young Logan Lerman and good to see Peter Fonda however, a stellar cast can't help with a script with more flaws you can point a stick at. With that said I'm afraid you can't beat the original, I was enjoying the film even with the flaws, what was the director thinking with the ending? How can any actor top Glenn Ford and Van Heflin.

South Pacific (1958)

the Best of the Musicals
15 February 2024
My Mother took me to see the film in 1958 when I was a mere 11 years old, it ran at the Mayfair Theatre in Sydney for 3 years to finally finish to be replaced by West Side Story. During that time I went to see the film 8 times. To begin, the film was the first I had seen on a wide curved screen and I was mesmerized by the brilliance in colour and clarity when the main title began, the sound was of a quality previously unheard of. The cast was exceptional and certainly with some unheard of names, the songs were absolutely beautiful, the acting, unbeatable and cinematography was absolute perfection. A film I still love to watch and even though they say, Doris Day was overdone by that time and Mitzi Gaynor was a brilliant choice, Rossano Brazzi was superb, Ray Walston stole the show and the rest of the cast were also brilliant. The colour changing effects were ahead of the time however, I found it a very welcome change, even today, as many say The Sound Of Music was the greatest of all, well, to me, South Pacific is equal and in many ways a superb production. It is just a shame that musicals, like many other genres have become dinosaurs in the eyes of many film makers.

98% accurate, unbelievable performance by all
6 January 2024
Yes, a chain smoker she was, even her shoes were 100% and what a performance. Until the credits rolled I hardy recognised Liev Schreiber who played Henry Kissinger to perfection, the resemblance to all the other actors who played their real life characters were absolutely superb. I for one, did not know the circumstances surrounding the Yom Kippur War that well and this production is so well written that by the end of the film I understood it very well. The whole production from filming, atmosphere, makeup and direction makes this film a top contender for the top awards. What more can I say, this film is in the top 5 of 2023.

A great story and well acted
21 March 2022
Don't believe the bad writeups on this film, this is a well photographed and a well written screenplay with good direction. I'm a western fan from way back and thoroughly enjoyed the movie, with a steady story that builds up to a very good conclusion. All the actors did a fine job, see this film if you can.

great sequel
20 November 2020
A great film that carried on from The Bourne Ultimatum with a very good story, great action and especially good to see Tommy Lee Jones in another villainous role. Alicia Vikander was excellent as well in her role. Don't take any notice of the many negative reviews here.

Better than most other reviewers
12 October 2020
What is wrong with many of these reviewers? I watched this movie today, expecting the worse from all the previous comments and I was certainly pleasantly surprised! Very good performances from the actors, Casper Van Dien a little underplayed his part, Jack Griffo surprised me and Ryan Phillipe just gets better. Direction was tight and very good action with a great finale.

Kurylenko delivers again
1 February 2020
I just watched the Courier and can I say, this is not only very good but all the main stars deliver brilliantly. Gary Oldman as a Crime Lord who pays everyone to keep him out of Jail is just great in any role he plays, the surprising star in this is Amit Shah who plays a very convincing witness and of course Olga Kurylenko who is so super fit and plays the Heroine superbly and watch out for Calli taylor as gary Oldman's Daughter, I think we'll see a lot more of her as well. Watch out for when Gary Oldman's eye patch was quite obviously switched from the left eye to the right. For any action fan this is a must and will not disappoint and certainly is left open for a follow up.

So quick to come out on video says it all
14 December 2019
I give it a 3 for the brilliant actors and Bruce Dern however even they could not help this film. Boring, boring, boring and pointless to the ultimate ending. Quentin, go back to the drawing board before you quickly become another washed up Director!

well done
28 July 2019
Is this a remake, if it is, what was the original title and what year? I actually saw this film on You Tube and was entertained right from the opening scenes. Certainly well worth watching.

too much violence
11 July 2019
I'm a great fan of action & violence and I have thoroughly enjoyed both previous films however, the action & violence was a wee bit over the top, about 5 minutes! I won't bother going into the details as I feel the many other fans of John Wick would have felt the same. I was so looking forward to seeing the 3rd film and to see a final solution only to be left with a teaser ending to keep the story going on yet again. All I can say is that I as many others will not bother when John Wick 4 comes out!

historically accurate
17 January 2019
I saw this film yesterday, the sets were incredibly real and this film did not mess about beginning as it started, being British made with no Americans in the cast, unlike the 1982 film "Who Dare's Wins", it was edge of the seat from start to finish and good to see at the end photo's of the original people who were involved. The cast were very good and played their roles with certain accuracy. It's always good to see a film that sticks to the actual story.

Brilliant and close to the book.
26 November 2018
To put a novel as huge as this into 3 hours was a feat very few could accomplish. All the characters were brought to the screen so well, the casting was absolutely superb. I have just watched this film for the second time since seeing the film when it first came out in 1970. It now impels me to read the book again after al these years.
