A Discovery of Witches: Episode #2.8 (2021)
Season 2, Episode 8
6/10
And here we go with the woke b.s.
10 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As silly as this series is at times, overall it is well done. For those not in the know, every TV show after their first season on has to answer to social activists. There aren't enough gay, trans, people of color, etc. In this series. So, you get some sort of ridiculous crap like some character being straight, then gay, then straight like Angela in Bones. Or Amy Acker's character in Person of Interest being gay. This has NOTHING to with the story so it came across as really forced. Here we have some statement about border control. Of course, they are referring to the Mexican border wall and Brexit. Somehow they managed to insert their stupid politics in a series about witches, daemons and vampires. I have yet to finish Season 2, but I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

Into the Dark: Pilgrim (2019)
Season 2, Episode 2
2/10
Bad movie made even worse by horrible music
27 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Where to begin. Okay, let's pretend that there are in actually this many mixed race couples in upper middle class neighborhoods. This is apparently what Hollywood wants us to believe, even though it is b.s. Second, this follows with the usual feeling I have when watching today's horror, and that is I really root for the "bad guys". The bad guys being the pilgrims. There is then this ridiculous scene where the two women, Cody and the Mom (I don't care enough to look up her name...Anna, maybe?) beat the piss out of the humongous dude. This also follows the stupid Hollywood trope that let's make strong women like men. It's another absurd fight scene where a couple of 120 lb women beat up a big 270 lb guy. I honestly can't believe they are serious with this crap. This is a problem with most of these Blumhouse Into the Dark movies. The absurdity of what is supposed to be the real life aspects of these movies. Cody, who I guess we are supposed to root for is so unlikable, I can't say that I was happy when she lived through this movie. The mom either, for that matter. And, the music....just flat out awful. What is with the black spiritual music in some scenes, then the techno Kraftwerk-esque music in other scenes. This made a bad film even worse. Avoid!

The World Wars: Trial by Fire (2014)
Season 2, Episode 1
4/10
So much b.s. in this episode.
21 March 2021
I shouldn't be surprised, since this is a network that teamed up with a jackass like Howard Zinn. First of all, they seem to have gone to great lengths to show Woodrow Wilson in a good light. I wonder if his party affiliation has anything to do with this. They seem to blame everyone but him for the awful Treaty of Versailles. They also fail to mention that Wilson promised Americans that the U.S. would not enter the war, and then changed his tune a month after his inauguration. He was also inaugurated 2 YEARS after the sinking of the Lusitania. The majority of Americans did NOT support entering this war. In fact, they country felt they had been lied to because he promised not to get involved before the election. Do some real research into Woodrow Wilson and he was one of the worst presidents in the country's history. It's a shame this series is filled with so many inaccuracies. I like the way it is presented, just not the b.s. Sadly many will watch this and take it as fact. It simply isn't.

You ad me, then you lost me
13 June 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Like 'A Nightmare on Elm Street', 'Psycho' and 'The Omen' this is one of those remakes that irritated me on general principal. Why Hollywood feels the need to remake movies that were perfect in their original form is beyond me. Well, we all know it is because of a lack of interesting ideas, but I digress. The original version of this film is arguably the greatest science-fiction film ever made. If not the best, it is most certainly in the Top 10.

Saying all that about halfway I found myself actually enjoying this one. It seemed quite different from the original, and I must admit I found myself liking some of the differences. For example, I liked the idea of an almost birth-like process in the development of Klaatu. I'm neither a Keanu Reeves fan nor a Keanu Reeves hater, but I liked his performances as Klaatu.

The problem for me came when the whole leftist "global warming" agenda became the reason for Klaatu's mission. As a libertarian, I'm not a believer in the man-made global warming scam. Either way Klaatu's statement that if man lives the planet dies, if man dies the planet lives is rather absurd. Even if there is man-made global warming, it will kill humans, but the planet itself will recover as it always has throughout its existence. As George Carlin once said, "The planet isn't going anywhere...we are!" There are plenty of other things that will cause human extinction before global warming (superflu, asteroid, etc.), so the major plot point became absurd to me. Hence the rating.

Tori Amos Live from NY (1998 Video)
4/10
Worst recorded Tori performance ever
14 April 2002
This is probably the worst Tori Amos performance I have ever seen. I have seen her live 3 times, and most of her televised performances including her appearances on MTV Unplugged, Hard Rock Live, and PBS. Most of the originals have improvised sections. As a Zeppelin fan I am all for improvisation as long as it adds to, while improving the song. However, her improvisations here do neither. She sings off key on occasion, and the performance seems a little forced. If you want good live Tori get a copy of her performance on Hard Rock Live. Rating: 4/10.
