Alien: Covenant (2017)
So sad. So tragic.
Welp, if you went into this movie thinking fresh of Alien prequel then your gonna be upset. Now this film did have its few jump scares, a few face higher scenes and hell even a chest bursting scene. But alas that cannot redeem it from its untimate fate. I've seen Prometheus and I saw this with my wife who hasn't seen it. I didn't honestly know it was gonna be a direct sequel to that. I thought it took place on a whole different planet but noooo it took place on the exact same planet. A lot of th story dealt with the Walter/David deal which I felt could have been left on th cutting room floor. Also, I told my wife when David cut his hair I was like at some point there identities are going to be mistaken for. It should have been called Prometheus 2 honestly. If you had never seen Prometheus you may have a hard time justifying what's right and what's wrong as far as David says. It's not your average Ridley Scott Alien flick.... but we got something else
Time After Time (1979)
No replay value. Wasn't any good.
You have HG Wells who is famous for his books The Time Machine and Thr Invisible Man. He creates a time machine in Victorian England in the late 19th Century. Jack the Ripper stills it and goes to 1979 San Francisco. Seems good on paper but when it played out it was not good at all. Why San Francisco? In most stories the time traveling stories it's the time that changes, not the time and place! David Warner is the fantastic John louis Stevenson aka Jack the Ripper and Malcolm McDowell is HG Wells. And Mary Steenburgen is the lady is distress. She was complete monotone and never showed any feelings. That was the main thing for me. I don't see how this lady gets an acting jobs. What you see is what you get in this case? A malcontent in at the time present day San Francisco chasing Jack the Ripper....
Performance (1970)
Just wasn't ma cup o' tea guvnor.
I went in doing all my research on this movie. I read where it didn't good reviews when it first came out, it was violent and some lady vomited at the premiere. I don't know why that sticks out to me. But I knew it was gonna be either a love or hate movie, no in the middle. It started off good sure, a petty thief crosses his boss and goes on the run from the boss and ends up at Mick Jaggers house where it all falls apart. I hated the movie yes but I am still giving it a 5 star review out of 10. I like these late 60's early 70's British underworld crime movies. The Italian Job and Get Carter both come to mind. The cockney accents and just London at that time was the place to be. It was like looking in a time voretx of London in the 60's. Thats all the movies had going for it. But Mick Jagger and the other fellow dressing up like women and having gay sex. Nah just wasn't for me.
