Very promising start
28 March 2012
Another TV play from the stable of Kay Mellor who seems to have been off our screens for a while. Very promising start to what looks like being a tight drama set in Leeds. Interesting premise with background stories of five supermarket workers, all of whom have financial problems of their own, panning out to lead us to the "big win" that they are all involved in. Excellent performances from an ensemble cast,as is usual with Kay's dramas, but special praise to Timothy Spall who never disappoints,in my opinion. The locations are believable as is the script which is "gritty" without being dour.Left me waiting with anticipation for the next episode with enough to have whetted my appetite.

Pure Genius
6 May 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Well worth the wait for another series of this darkest of dark comedies. After becoming addicted to "League of Gentlemen" when it first aired we,my wife and I,looked forward to the first series of "Pyschoville" which we loved. The second is even darker and in our opinion even funnier. All the previous characters are back with a vengeance and I have to say to say it really does help having watched it before to know the background of these"weird and troubled people" Our new favourite has to be "Silent Singer" and will surely feature more in the weeks to come.We went to bed laughing. Not everyones cup of tea thank goodness but most certainly ours.Genius is a word much overused these days but that's what we think this is,pure genius.
