Not a lot of laughs but a good, touching, and important story involving characters we grew to care about. Coach was a show mostly about men behaving not so good. But in some episodes men and their expectations, relationships and their failures received a pretty good treatment. This was one of those. And then some. The story revolves around a former player who made it to the big time. He comes back to his Alma Mater where he developed into the star player he was. He was a player as Hayden said, you just knew he would give it his all. Of course Hayden was very proud of his former player almost as a father would be. If you read this, I recommend you take a chance of the episode and then read the other review with the spoiler warning. Better yet DVR it and watch it again again. You won't be disappointed.

Admit it if you watched this show you just sang that title.

WKRP was a brilliant show and this is one of my favorite episodes. A short list with short titles would be, Turkeys, Scum of the Earth, Tornado, and this. Filmed late during the 1st season the show follows the acquisition of a new sponsor and the development of a commercial for the spots he is paying for. A lot of spots for a lot of money. Something that WKRP could use. The question is will what he wants be appropriate for the station and the audience. This is one of the episodes that shows the staff of the radio station starting to come together as a team. Watch for the auditions for the commercial. Watch for Bailey's and Jennifer's bits. Then all the different personalities of the station staff working together to put together a good product for the client. You also see a side of Mr. Carlson that is a bit different. And as they say there is where the plot complication comes in.

I can't say enough about this episode without giving away a spoiler so let me say these couple things. First is if you have ever listened radio in a market that is not in a major city, you have heard this commercial. And you will have to laugh. Second and maybe more important to the show is showing the team of WKRP coming together. It helps the show work. Lastly this is MTM Productions ensemble casting at it's best. You won't be disappointed.

Worthwhile for it's broad humor, that is why the 8 maybe even an 8.5. OK first and foremost his is not a typical sitcom episode, nor is it typical Happy Days. It was part of a 2 part carryover show originally that wrapped up on Laverne & Shirley. That explains why it may appear to be a somewhat chopped up episode. What it is, in this re-edited one part syndicated rerun is an almost slapstick episode featuring Ron Howard and Henry Winkler and Penny Marshall and Cindy Williams in some of the funniest physical comedy I ever saw. The four of them really shine even though this is far from the usual fair of their respective sitcoms. The farmers daughters also have a very funny scene especially Helga - Vicki Frederick. You will probably laugh if you just watch the scenes go down and enjoy the actors act and react.

I liked Evening Shade and I was sorry when it went off. I always try to include that "warning" because everyone's taste is different. This was a good episode of a good show. The episode is about the visit of a black sheep of the family during the probably most "family" of all holidays. Billy Bob Thornton plays the black sheep with relish, and menace. This was before he was a big star and he was definitely going for it. He plays Wood's(Burt Reynolds Character)brother who tormented him when he was young and still does. He wrangles an invite to the family Thanksgiving Dinner much to Wood's chagrin. But family is family and they welcome him to some funny results. Worth seeing to watch Billy Bob Thornton even if you are not a fan of the show. As I said I was a fan and I knew the characters before I saw this and they were all really fun.

I have been watching reruns of old TV westerns on cable for the past year. I have seen a lot of memorable episodes and this is definitely one of those for 2 reasons. First and foremost is the story. It is a get the tissues ready episode. The story revolves around a young boy and the unfortunate death of his dog at the hands of a neighbor. The boy and his grandfather decide to sue and after some melodramatics, the boy, his mother, and grandfather are in court with representation by George Vest(Ronald Reagan). It is these courtroom scenes that make the show. The only downside is that you have to remember the show is about 50 years old and that some dramatic license is taken. The second reason is the acting of future President Ronald Reagan. He made at least a couple really good movies including Knute Rockne All American and Kings Row. He doesn't disappoint here as the lawyer with a heart, slash almost father figure. As I watched his performance I was reminded of some of his speeches as President and since I am a fan of him on both levels it was a pleasant experience. I recommend this episode, if you get a chance to watch it it is worth the 25 minutes(no commercials).

But be forewarned the courtroom scene is a tearjerker. Also there is some violence that may not be appropriate for younger children and animal lovers at the beginning. It makes the plot but it is a bit wrenching. I may have voted it a bit higher but there are no other reviews and I didn't want anyone to be disappointed.

This is actually one of my top TV comedy episodes of all time. The episode revolves around the team getting a Bowl bid after a winning season. The best way to see it is (of course) without commercials and watch from beginning to end. The team gets to be in the Patriot Bowl held near Philadelphia, and some of the humor revolves around that. It help to be from that area but its not necessary. Craig T. Nelson is great as the Coach and this episodes writing showcases that. All the characters are fine in some funny scenes. For the sports fans there are probably things I didn't get and that may add to your enjoyment. It is tough to write a review without hinting at the end but lets just say that it is a classic story in the style of Bob Newhart or Bill Cosby where the punchline won't disappoint. It is number 10 of the 5th season, and the show had really hit its stride.

Let me say first that I am a kind of a fan, but don't always watch. In general the space travelers out of their element was much better done by 3rd Rock From The Sun. I think that the "earthling couple" are well played Jami Gertz and Lenny Venito. This episode features a couple well done send ups of 80's Brat Pack / John Hughes movies. The Dream Weavers episode revolves around the High School dance and the Weavers especially Debbies attempt to recapture the magic of meeting her soul mate at hers. She does this by volunteering to chaperone with the neighbors and Marty. There are of course the usual conflict with the teenage daughter who doesn't want her there. And the usual fish out of water reactions of the neighbors. The high point however and the reason I wrote this is the references to the above mentioned brat pack flicks. Especially since Jamie Gerts was one of them. There is also a guest appearance by Judd Nelson. If you remember those films, this is a better episode and why I gave it an 8. It's been quite a while since I've seen this and I came to IMDb to see if this was available anywhere. I will give this comment my best shot based on my memories. For those of you who might remember, once before this country went through a go green, conserve craze. This program that ran on my local PBS station highlighted green and conservation measures in your "house for all seasons". The show dealt with being self sufficient and conserving energy. It was a fun show to watch and like This Old House back then it showed things anyone could do as well as the more exotic answers to saving energy. By todays standards it is probably not pc green and in my memory it leaned more toward saving money than energy per se and only some alternative green energy was featured. It was a kind of folksy show and as I said pleasant to watch. It would be interesting to see it again. It would also be a neat bit of social comment on the fickleness and short attention span of the Amercian public.
