Black Dynamite (2009)
A$$-Kicking Awesomeness And Gut-Busting Comedy
Full-throttle, epic, blaxploitation-tinged tale of ass-kicking awesomeness and priceless comedy. Not even iconic comedies such as Blazing Saddles, Dr. Strangelove, and The Sting (as respectively epic as they are) made my cry of laughter in such magnitude as this film. Thematically and aesthetically crafted in the stylistic likeness of the glorious '70s blaxploitation film era, this film hit all the right spots that would make me love a movie. It was hilarious, colorful, action-packed, adrenaline pumping.
As much as I had respected his craft, I was never really into Michael Jai-White like that, even though I knew he was a superbly skilled martial artist in his movies. And then I saw this movie, and then I was blown away by his embodiment of this role, to be funny and still deliver the same savage combat in his other martial arts themes flicks. It was a pleasure to watch this masterpiece.
