Innovative and refreshing
5 February 2004
I watched this show with trepidation expecting it to be another hit and miss, or even plain miss, of a mini-series. I was more then pleasantly suprised when the show proved not only to be hilarious but a much needed break from the vapid 'reality' shows that have come to expunge any palatability from our viewing pleasure. The 'bad acting', or 'showing the truth' as Garth puts it, is amazingly funny. This is especially true in the character of Garth's boss and the chef (The Office's Stephan Merchant). Overall, it can tend to be a bit tedious by the end but at the moment it is hysterical and I can't wait to see where they go from here.

Needs To Be Viewed Twice
23 October 2003
When I said that I 'didn't really like Kill Bill' I was met with confused and often offensive retorts. I acknowledged the style, I took on board the cinematic quality and merit. I grimaced, jumped and became enthralled in what has been billed as THE film of the year. However, for me, it didn't seem to click. It had everything I needed but it felt lacking. Tarantino's quirky dialogue was sporadic and often abscence, although its merit in this picture could be questioned. I also became bored and my mind wandered as The Bride took the length of my life to get Hattori Hanzo out of retirement to then construct her weapon of choice. It seems that this will indeed as the title reads require a second viewing and hopefully results will vary.

...And Jack Black Was Even Funny Then
20 June 2002
I woke up late and caught this mad-capped adventure of a movie around noon with misty eyes and a dosey head...luckily the film did not cause me to think on too great a level and so it was easy to enjoy. Notable appearances by a young, and rather funny looking, Seth Green of Buffy and Austin Powers fame was followed by the even more shocking appearance of soon to be huge actor...Jack Black. The Tenacious D frontman appeared as a cocky yet loveable class clown eagerly awaiting the prime bait of 'surfer dude' Shane McDermott. The film was simplistic...boy moves away - boy gets picked on - boy fucks up - boy regains trust - boy = hero....and some sub-plotted love story that made no sense as the lead's love interest suddenly hated him for no reason...but he one her back by stripping her ex of his pants...go figure. Overall good film, excellent stunts by Team Blade and some pretty cool action segments...but one nasty one of Jack Black ending up bow-legged on a tree...nasty...anyways I enjoyed it and I would recommend it to anyone after a night out getting drunk as a movie to sober up to.

Am I alone on this one?
20 May 2002
Personally this film, in complete honesty, bored the fun-lovin' crap out of me.

Two hours and forty minutes of perpetual jargon inter-twined with a dash of CGI and a limited amount of acting ability.

Aspects were good, Hayden Christensen's slow but inevitable lapse into 'the darkside', Yoda versus Count Dooku and the impressively vast use of CGI.

I am not entirely against the Star Wars saga but having not viewed any of the others, apart from sleeping through Episode I, my knowledge of the phenomenon was exceedingly slight although my love of film did allow me to have some prior knowledge before viewing.

All I can say is I gave it 3/10, due to the 3 instances in which it was impressive and the fact that some elements were pretty mind-blowing.

If you don't like this show...what is wrong with you?

This is easily my favorite program. Apart from the plain retarded attitude of censors it could be great. The humor is good for those who like to see people seriousely injured or were a bit immature in school. The basic principle is observation humor and attempting to make the public react. The program makes me laugh through it's plain insanity...eg. Johnny Knoxville riding a rampant donkey and then crashing into the side of a barn. If you like that type of thing this is definetly for you.
