Beautifully filmed
21 December 2022
Not 'just another wildlife documentary'. The filming is fantastic, with crews on-site over a full year for each episode, and there is new information in every one. But the writing varies wildy between colloquial and formal in tone and overall is more typical of some of the cheaper sentimental documentaries. It makes you realise that one of the things that made David Attenborough's documentaries so good was the avoidance of sentimental personifications and idle speculations about what the animals might be thinking or feeling. But the filming and educational value is so good it's best to overlook all of that in this case.

A real gem

A highly entertaining mystery. I'm four episodes in and the characters are interesting and relatable and the acting is excellent. This is a warm, colourful, drama about ordinary people, with a slice of murder mystery thrown in. I've seen this described as a comedy in some places, but it is not a comedy.

A lot of fun

Not normally much a fan of Zombie stuff, but this was a hoot. Never takes itself seriously, but great acting and I loved the characters. It was really just a gentle British character comedy, that just happened to use the zombie apocslypse as its setting.

Irony and detail
12 November 2021
Interesting UK show. Fast paced and confusing if you don't pay very careful attention. Love the ironic send-up of the super-woke lesbian vegan American cop from NJ. Loved the BoJo-like character. If you're looking for a cop show with traditional formula and pacing, or you struggle with irony then this might not be for you. Personally I enjoyed it to start with, but less as it went on.
