The Thomas Crown Affair (1999)
Pheeew
This is one of the few movies I have ever walked out of the theatre on. It is lousy. Filled with clichés, horrible plot twists and silly sex scenes. If you want to see pierce brosnan, buy some old remmington steele episodes. This sucks
The Cable Guy (1996)
DOH, why spoil a good idea?
My simple thought is: DOH! Here the director had a pretty good script with a really creepy idea. But what does he do with it? He makes it a pretty lame comedy, instead of refocusing it, make some slight changes and make a really creepy thriller. I think that the producers have wasted Carrey's talent on too many comedies. Let us see him do something like this but really evil instead.
Fyra kvinnor (2001)
A very beautiful movie
A beautiful movie about four women's relationships with each other and with the men in their presence. We follow four women who struggle with their own angst over relationships, trust and their own lust. Perhaps women are people with own wants and needs too?
Scary Movie (2000)
pretty good parody
It's very difficult to rate a movie which is a parody of a parody. In fact, I think that in order to rate it properly one should work out all whole new system for thinking 'what is a good movie'. When I saw this one the first time I thought 'this stinks'. Lots of bad puns over gays, blacks people, gangstas, bimbos and well american high school over all. In short, I thought it sucked. But then I realized that I had used the wrong measuring tools. I mean when you do a parody you have to work your mind in a special way. When your making a parody of a parody, you have to take the whole thing two steps further. And really freak out. This is what this movie has done. Although they have filled it with clichees and really cheap jokes it is done with such a selfirony and distance that one just has to applaud. This is a good parody
Funny Games (1997)
film against the audience
I must say that I like this film alot. Not because of the qualities of the movie, but rather for the way the director keeps challenging the audience. Will the family survive? Will the kidnappers fail this time. Will they escape?
But the thing is this isn't a film for the audience, but rather it is a film against the audience and our opinions.
See it, but don't see it as an entertainment movie. Rather it is a wake up call for the audience. How do we see violence in the movies? It ain't fun.
