Excellent screenwriter-filmaker... MR. BERGMAN
2 January 2002
The best thing about this movie, is not only it's photography, nor it's characters. It's the best story telling ever, using the flash forward - flash back resource it keeps your mind trying to put together this extraordinary puzzle. Bergman did this before Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. And keeps it in an intimate level, wanders in the dark pits of human sexuality and feelings. So... watch the film with open mind.

Ripstein... movies... excellent!
31 December 2001
Ripstein likes to put his characters in difficult situations. Especially when it comes to past events that haunt them in the present. Every Ripstein´s films are full of really claustrophobic places and situations. In this case the main character cannot escape his past nor his nemesis. So, it all becomes claustrophobic in a greek tragedy way. EXCELLENT!!!!

Actor´s film
28 December 2001
This is an actor´s film, and Hermosillo did his work by directing them in the right path. The camera and photo are just a way of keeping it real most of the time, so the true feelings and force of the film comes from the actor´s performances.

A girl and her father fall in love with the same man, a mexican macho.

What Arturo Ripstein likes to do is put his characters in small isolated places, where the public feels trapped. In this case, the claustrophobic environment is not only the town or the house where the plot evolves, it´s Mexican closed minds. Drama full of unforgettable moments. GOTTA SEE IT!!!

A girl looks for acceptance and find crazyness in the process.

It´s an extraordinary film. It lives up to any Hitchcock movie! A psychological thriller. You should identify the true mexican aspects of the early years.

One of the greatest Mexican films.
