Six Feet Under (2001)
Stuck Between the Earth and Six Feet Under
Six Feet Under is a 5 seasons long section from the "ordinary" lives of Fisher family. While managing the family-owned funeral home, Fishers struggle with the past and present, under the guidance of their recently departed father. Finally it turns into a belated journey leading them to discover more about each other and themselves. The show never cease to throw existential dilemmas into viewer's face while just using simple/daily elements like break ups, fights and death.
All the characters stand tall like a projection of Alan Ball's illustrious writing skills. Here, Frances Conroy should be mentioned separately. I don't hesitate to suggest that, those of you who like classic novels will be amazed how brilliant she is at depicting Ruth Fisher.
Rachel Griffiths as Brenda Chenowith highly deserves admiration, too. With her attitude weird enough even for Six Feet Under universe, Ms. Chenowith will frequently put you somewhere around "hate to feel sympathy for her".
Just ring the bell. Stuck between the Earth and six feet under, Fishers will let you in. One of the best of all television history with no doubt.
