We thouroughly enjoyed this movie. It had substance, intrigue, a gentle unfolding of characters. It had beautiful cinematography and whoever did the editing also did a fantastic job.

The only thing that makes sense to me in trying to understand The French Dispatch is that Wes Anderson must have gotten so sick and tired of people asking him to make another movie that he thought: Fine you @ # $ %, you want a movie, I'll give you a movie like a bucket of Halloween candy that you'll gorge on until it makes you sick.

This movie will have everything you so desperately want from me, but it won't have any kind of substance, zero meaning and no discernible story whatsoever. And you are all such sheep that you will watch it and sing its praises and tell one another how good it was, when in fact it's nothing but all my tricks strung together like cheap Christmas baubles on a string. The same actors, the same nostalgia, the same colors, the same shots. Have at it, dumb @ # $ %. The joke's on you as I am making my usual millions.
