The Casagrandes Movie (2024)
The Summer of 12 Down South
While the Loud family of Royal Woods traveled their way up to Scotland in Europe, the familia of Great Lakes City takes a trip down south of the border in The Casagrandes Movie!
It's summer vacation and Ronnie Anne finally turns 12 on her birthday! She and her bestie Sid are about to spend a day at a new Xtreme skate park! But her family back home has a much bigger surprise. They're going to take a long drive down to Japunda, Mexico to visit Mama Lupe's hometown while also taking part of the New Fire Festival celebration. They also learn about Michoacán culture and an ancient legend about a preteen demigod (who also turned the same age as Ronnie's). Ronnie Anne would later befriend the demigoddess, and the chaos would start to ensue.
I have to say that the animation here (despite being the same as The Loud House Movie) has more details with depth, lighting, shadows and color. The character personalities of Ronnie Anne and her Casagrande/Santiago family are still their same loving selves. The fictional Mexican town of Japunda with its landscapes, pyramids, temples and other magical passages look really nice. The humor has some hits and misses, the action scenes with some 2D animation are exciting, and there are a couple of Easter eggs put in as well.
Now the main focus of this feature is the relationship between Ronnie Anne and her mother, Maria. Maria wants to spend more time with the family on this big vacation so she could be closer to her young daughter. But Ronnie Anne, who just turned 12, wishes to be more free and independent while not being smothered by her mom a lot. The two would have a bitter connection throughout the whole trip, but then Maria learns that she was also a 12 year old girl in the past who yearned to be more on her own, which she got that from her mom, Abuela Rosa cause it's a family generation of chancla warriors.
The important moral in my own words is just because the daughter is growing up doesn't mean that the parent has to still treat her like a baby. Let her be on her own. She will slowly start to learn more about trust and responsibility as time would go on. She wants to be an independent woman, but still loves her parents too. And no matter if the daughter is young or growing older, she is still a loving little girl in the parents' eyes.
If you're a Loud House/Casagrandes fan who also loves an exciting adventure, then this movie is just for you! I congratulate Miguel Puga and the CasaLoud team for putting all their passion and effort into this big final hurrah. The series may be a short-lived spinoff, but the Casagrandes will continue their ongoing guest roles in The Loud House!
A Really Haunted Loud House (2023)
A Frighteous Loud Feature
The Really Loud House is at it again in this new Halloween TV flick (that's also on Paramount+). The Loud family is getting ready for the big night spooktacular with creepy decorations, surprising scares and so much candy galore. As for Lincoln and his best friend Clyde, they both secretly attend to a cool influencer kid's party instead. When both sides of the problem come together, it turns into one big hilarious war. There's action, chases, a great rockin' song, Papa Loud turning into a werewolf, and a giant pumpkin grown by Lisa.
Like 'A Loud House Christmas', this one is also fun to watch. I still like those Loud characters albeit their live-action counterparts. The dialogues and jokes can be hits or misses, but the humor is still funny. Plus, some of the family's costumes look very nice and wicked.
Now, the one nitpick I've been keeping that I have to say (while also for the show's later episodes) is that fact that Wolfie and Jahzir's current adolescent voices show that it's kind of a bad sign. Lincoln and Clyde are both age 12 (or 11), and they're still kids with young sounding voices. When both kid actors slowly grow and their voices strangely start to get deeper later on, don't you think it's time for the show to cast another 2 different young boys who would have the same friendly charms as Clincoln McCloud? But I don't wanna bash too hard on them, at least I still like these two.
It may not be for everyone (even for debatable Loud fans), but overall, I did enjoy seeing this. With tricks and treats aplenty, The Really Loud House did great with this haunting holiday movie, and I congratulate to everyone who worked on it!
The Loud House (2021)
A Royal Loud Welcome
(Posted this review back in August on Instagram)
Well... the wait is finally over! 4 years since the announcement, and after so much delays, production changes, and pushed release dates, "The Loud House Movie" is finally out now for people to see (on a streaming service known as Netflix, that is)!
Now that I saw the whole thing, here is what I have to say:
I really liked it! Such an enjoyable feature! The Loud family taking a big trip to Scotland, UK to learn about ancestry, descendants and roots while spending an epic vacation is a nice, interesting concept for a movie like this. I didn't realize it's also a musical with 9 new songs which they all sounded so great! It's "Scot-ful" of good laughs (Get it? I made a clever pun!), music, action, humor and heart. The voices of Lincoln, his sisters, family and friends (plus a few new characters) still sound so lovable and likable. And yes, even though this awesome TV series is flash-animated, which I don't mind at all, the animation and backgrounds here look really good (from a studio made in the Philippines). No matter if Lincoln is royalty or regular, family is always the strongest love of all.
This film may not be for everyone, but for any Loud House fan like I am, I highly recommend watching this! Hopefully, this will stay on Netflix more so I can see it again and again, or plan to have its own DVD release very soon. With Peanuts, Rugrats and Spongebob, I'd love to put this in my "movies based on a TV cartoon" collection. Congratulations to the entire Loud House crew for making one heck of an adventure! You really made this movie LOUD and proud!
A Loud House Christmas (2021)
Life is Better Loud
Last August, the Louds had their big, royal and adventurous trip to Scotland. 3 months later, the fam is now heading to L. A. (Live Action) in a brand new holly jolly TV movie special (also streaming on Paramount +): "A Loud House Christmas".
Lincoln is really looking forward to celebrate and spend Christmas with his family together, but suddenly, 3 of his sisters have their own schedules, and the parents also decide to go spend the holiday in sunny Miami, Florida! What's a 12 year old white-haired boy to do?!? Now with the help of his good buddy, Clyde, the two try to come up with a very big plan while also trying to change the family's mind and save Christmas!
I have seen a couple different Loud House parodies before, but never a live action one... until now. Even though the siblings are casted with some unfamiliar kids and teens, they have surprisingly captured the likeness and charm from their lovable cartoon counterparts. Not to mention two well-known Loud actors join in the fun: Brian Stepanek as the real life Papa Lynn Loud Sr., and Catherine Taber (Literally Lori's voice) having the special honor playing as Royal Woods' news anchor, Katherine Mulligan. Speaking of her, I really loved how she also had more screen time! If only the animated series would do the same with an episode focused on Katherine.
All in all, this was truly a fun holiday movie! I enjoyed everything about it! The cast was great, the humor is so funny, and the locations and sets look so life-like! If Michigan ever makes a Royal Woods with the Loud House residence at 1216 Franklin Ave., I would love to go visit that place and meet the family IRL! Great job to the cast and crew for making this enjoyable Christmas feature!
