Thriller: Child's Play (1960)
Ahead of its time
On first watch, I found this episode boring. Too much dialogue, annoying kid, the works. On rewatch, I'm impressed by how ahead of its time this display of fatherhood (or lack thereof) is. The father is absent, only cares about work, and holds his wife accountable for all their child's behavior. The son just wants his dad to spend time with him. I just can't believe they didn't take the guns out of the house after the summer camp incident!
The father doesn't feel connected to his child, and blames on his own "need to grow up too quickly". He does not parent his child, but takes him to the country so he can neglect his wife and child under the guise of "working". Too oblivious to almost believe, he somehow thinks that by just treating his 11 year old child (he thought he was 10) as an adult, he'll become one. Meanwhile his mother just wants him to feel loved, desperate to try to be the bridge between him and his father.
A terrifying picture of a neglectful father leads his child to try to find attention in any other way, even going so far as to name his main villain after his father.

Loved this one
Absolutely loved this one - one of my top 10 hunks for this show in Peter Fonda. He is truly beautiful and I couldn't take my eyes off of him the entire time. He played the best "playing dumb but actually smart underestimated country boy" ever. This also watched like a movie with several plots and character arcs - very cool. Spoilers now - I was a little silly and thought for some reason he was going to go to school to become like a lawyer and take the bad guy down from the inside, like as a DA or something since he's a crooked politician. Anyway, love that he went into a trade and I would let him give me a shave anytime.

Can get rough for SA survivors
Spoilers below -
Warning for content containing mentions of sexual assault and rape. I had a hard time with this one due to the men claiming the woman who was assaulted "wanted this to happen" and that the man who was accused "wouldn't risk (the assault) on a woman like that", because she's too ugly to attack. But maybe someone hotter and it would be worth it! GROSS.
He goes on to try to kill her but honestly the worst part is how much everyone goes on and on about how ugly she is. Like cmon it's just lazy writing in my opinion.
Actually love this actress tho and her glasses remind me of ones my mom had has part of a costume and they were so fun to wear and play pretend.

Major plot holes?
I had a hard time with this one - **spoilers to come**
So supposedly this guy gets acquitted and immediately tells his defense lawyer he did in fact kill the person for whom he was on trial. The lawyer gets all worked up and threatens to go to the district attorney and everyone freaks the freak out. But why? They act like it will put this huge stain on the law firm (where nepotism is rampant) but idk why it would?
Wouldn't he just get tried again for (assumedly) lying on the stand aka perjury? I'm not sure why this would be so damaging to the law firm so I had a tough time getting into the plot.
The acting was great and I love the daughter/fiancé's hairstyle it looks like a wig lol. Love the actors too and when I can identify folks who were also on twilight zone (my other comfort show).
