The Commute (2014)
Excellent thriller
Very, very well written, beautifully shot, and exceedingly well directed thriller takes you places you wouldn't expect. Grips you immediately and takes you for a helluva ride before hitting hard with the ending. I had no idea what I was sitting down to watch and was immediately engrossed and, after a while, stopped trying to guess what was going to happen and just let the film lead me down it's endlessly inventive passageways. Unique, gorgeous, and extremely entertaining. The cast is top notch and through their wonderful performances, draw the viewer into empathetically seeing events through their eyes. You will truly not spend a better 20 minutes watching a film this year. And, no, I had no involvement with this film. I was just glad that I was given a chance to preview it. Highly, highly recommended. A+
Strange Girls (2007)
Awesome twisted little film!
Loved this flick! Touches of CLOCKWORK ORANGE & other films but totally original. Very offbeat but involving & entertaining thriller! The fact that the "villains" are also the "heroes" puts the audience in the odd position of rooting for the bad girls, while, at the same time, wanting to see them put behind bars. The acting & cinematography are of the very natural "70s" type, which helps ground the insanity before you. Violent in spurts but even more psychologically disturbed, STRANGE GIRLS is a surprise throughout. Bothered me how I could root for the girls but also root for the "victims", esp. the old coot detective who tries to track them down even though everyone dismisses him.
Jeepers Creepers (2001)
Cool creature, really dumb but nicely lit film...
The creature design itself is very cool - the first appearance of the batwing was a great scene & the film was very, very well lit (esp. for a lower budget film)BUT, overall, the story was senseless, silly garbage. Watch it at 2AM & pretend it's "Chiller Theater"...
A Month of Sundays (2001)
Thoroughly enjoyed the film!
A wonderful film - a charming, quirky family story. A cross-country journey filled with lots of interesting, oddball stops along the way (& several very cool cameos). Great cast led by Rod Steiger carries the film along and leads to a surprise ending. Well directed & shot - a really nice movie.
