The Batman (2022)
Worst batman ever
That this was nominated for an oscar is incredible.
There are a few good moments and the riddler actor is good. The rest is awful.
The music isuøtra uncreative, rip-off, while simultaneously being boring. Horribly cliché and poor harmonically, naive and infantile lines in the music phrasing. It is hard to understand how music this bland gets the gig. It sounds like something an AI would make.
At times the dystopian atmosphere is appealing, and there are some captivating scenes m the movie could deserve a better rating had it not been for the terrible ending, the predictability, and the awfully weak music. The worst example of modern movie music.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (2022)
Another nail in the coffin for Star Trek
Actors are mediocre at best, but the real problem lies in the lack of quality writing and creativity. Even the music is very poor and generic, despite some futile attempts to mimic and include snippets of the original themes by mastee composer Jerry Goldsmith, a true musical genious who set the mood as it was supposed to.
Episodes are too slow, too dramatic, dialogue is unbelievably weak. The only conclusion can be that the writers and decision makers are simply not as adept at their jobs as previous generations were. This is sadly in line with other popular media forms of today when compared to previous creative work, evident in music, art and popular visual fiction. Sadly too, they drag Star Trek down with them.
Heist (2015)
Good actors but horrible writing
Good actors. Horrible writers. I do not know where they get these guys or women who write these terrible character dialogues. It is unbelievable. It is sad too because the actors do a really good job, but they are given very low quality material to work with. Predictable and stereotypical curse language. Really not fit for entertainment in any fashion, just another example of writers without real creativity or intelligence for that matter. They just follow their assumed recipe and end up creating nothing. Also the story and video editing is too shallow and really uninteresting. It gets worse and halfway through you do not want to go on watching. The actors deserve better.
Rabbit Hole (2023)
Weak writer quality
Kiefer saves this series, without him this would be 3 stars. The series has its moments, and many things work well, however many dialogues are so weak you start wondering who made this stuff. Sadly modern writers just basically try to be smart and be as offensive as possible and curse as much as possible, without having any real talent for writing, like present in series like for example 24, also with Kiefer, but of a completely different calibre. This was really disappointing, although like mentioned, there are a few minutes and things indeed making this worth watching, in the end. A young villain character is also doing a great performance actually. But sadly he too suffers from poor writing quality by those who wrote this stuff.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
To disastrously go where no Star Trek has gone before
This show has broken with the Star Trek themes, and is reduced to a generic intrigue and drama shows with politically correct weak men and strong women, the main character being of course a strong and frustrated woman who looks constantly annoyed and worried.
Lost are the search for discoveries, the music, the mood, the intelligence, the amazing themes and ethic dilemmas from the age of Picard - there it sits - this was a major disappointment.
The Expanse (2015)
A serious science fiction series
A refreshingly new series, that also is true to a lot of science fiction's core themes. Simultaneously it is modern with lots of anti-hero characters who also develop, so keep an open mind while watching. Your least favourite character might be the one you really end up needing in a pinch. Some of the language and cursing is over the top and a bit of a turn off, trying to hard to be realistic and cool. But love with it and you find the series well directed and written with nice surprises and a long and interesting story arch. It takes some episodes to get used to it and so is a bit heavy in the start, but keep going and you will not be disappointed.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Masterpiece
A movie you can watch over and over again and find out more. Extreme quality and performance. Acting, directing, everything is blisteringly powerful. I recommend watching it at least 3 times because that is when it gets even better. Superb!
The Wheel of Time (2021)
A disgrace and an insult to fans and Robert Jordan
This show is an abomination. They change and add things and make everything worse. The books are amazing and wonderful, some of the best fantasy fiction ever conjured up. But this tv adaptation is void of talent and an embarrasment to amazon prime. Characters are unrecognizable - mostly reduced to primates in costumes. The music is generic and lacking in musical creativity. The only good quality in the show is the effects.
The writers and producers here are the main problem. They should be ashamed of themselves for their poor work, bad decisions, incompetence, and most of all lack of respect for something their minds clearly did not comprehend. This is a disgrace!
