Ripley (2024)
Everything about this is 10/10
I honestly don't know what I was expecting, I've never watched the Talented Mr. Ripley, so I went into this with no pre-conceived ideas, and all I can say it's honestly one of the best things I've ever watched! I loved the main character Tom Ripley, what an amazing job he does, as do the other actors. The locations were fantastic and the fact that it was filmed in black and white really didn't matter, it just added to the overall experience of the story. Each episode is literally a masterpiece, the tension and sinister elements just build and build to create a highly entertaining and engaging story, that I really couldn't stop watching. Netflix have outdone themselves with this and I would say this alone is worth the subscription.
Coma (2024)
Coma kept me awake throughout
Felt compelled to leave a review after seeing the less than fair criticism given to this. For me the acting was great, the story was decent, it was filmed at a good pace and kept me engaged and watching right up to the end. The young boy Jonas Armstrong was very good and I can see him in lots of dramas in the future. This is not some big budget Hollywood movie with Oscar winning performances and I'm not really sure why everything has to be. It's a good drama, on a low scale budget and much better than Love Rat which was shown on channel 5 the previous week. To me Jason Watkins is always worth a watch and he and the rest of the cast did a great job.
Love & Death (2023)
Brilliant drama retelling of a true story
Loved everything about this, the acting, the music, and the pace. All episodes were great but the last two are brilliant. I didn't know who Elizabeth Olsen was before I watched this, but I honestly won't be forgetting her in a hurry, she is an amazingly talented actress, as is Jesse Plemons who plays Allan Gore. In fact I looked up anything else she had been in so I could add it to my watch list. The drama does such a great job in retelling the story which is set in the late 70's early eighties helped along by the amazing music of that time. I would definitely recommend as a top crime drama that stays with you long after it's finished.
The Killing Kind (2023)
The watch if nothing better to do kind
Poor storyline left me not caring who the killer was. Acting was marginally better. Although I did watch all of the episodes, I really wish I hadn't bothered just because the plot became more and more far fetched by the minute so you really need to suspend your belief in order to watch this. It was a real shame as I thought the whole premise sounded good and the first couple of episodes seemed promising but the further on it went the worse it got. There are far more superior crime dramas to watch out there and unfortunately this really doesn't cut the mustard I'm afraid. Not much more I can add really.
