The Devil's Plan (2023)
Finally some high iQ reality show
I was done with those reality shows where the temp in the room is higher than the avg is. It is a breath of fresh air to see both intellectual with good emotional intellect, playing the games without constantly betraying each other or being mean and all over the place. Such a wholesome group of people with genuine interaction, strategies.
I particularly loved the games designs, their ingenuity and how it all comes together. There was no smart exploit that ruins it for one player, it was either you're good in a field needed or you aren't. No tricks. They pushed all the participants to their limits making them all likeable as they displayed weaknesses to each other.
Slumberland (2022)
Surprisingly great
I feel like depending on your relation to your parents, you might get affected by it in a different way. But the story of a 11 years old daughter, putting her life on the line to dream one more time of a day with her father, is such a beautiful yet mature one.
I can't help but wonder how critics aren't charmed by this movie, for me it's a must see, one of those random Netflix movie that you don't expect to turn out into anything yet turns out amazing.
The CGI, the main actress, shouldered by a Jason Momoa that I've never seen in such a role (he slightly reminded me of the crazy Jack Sparrow but in his completely original way) is a fresh touch to this Disney like story without the disappointing aspects that the latter seems to forcibly plug in to please a minor part of their audience.
