3 Body Problem (2024)
A Live Action Adaption Done Right
I have waited so long for my favorite Mangaka to have a quality Live Action Adaption, like OP. I never thought I would live long enough to see it done right with Attack On Titan. What brilliance in manipulating people to believe in something while halting technological process. What brilliance that when other modern societies are found to exist, that the animal pinned in does everything to survive, like obliterating most of humanity. It perfectly shows that when humans don't have the power to fight back, but gain it, the Attack On Titan reality is quite more common. We are our own worst enemies.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Right and Wrong - Part 3 (2023)
Peak fiction
Stunning characters with outstanding animation, VA's, and development. Much watch episode for any anime fan. You can feel the passion of the VA's and feel fully immersed.
I love how many traditional tropes are avoided and the character reactions are often relatable. Even if it seems weak, there is only so much a person can take.
I also have to give props to the writing and villains. Some of the best writing and villains in an anime series. Mahito and Yuji's VA deserve emmy nominations.
The train scene and initial flashback were implemented perfectly. I also loved the exact 1:1 manga panel at the end.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Thunderclap (2023)
Must watch episode
This is peak JJK and what makes it stand out from other Shonen. They let the animators do what they do best, allowing for key frames with no lighting and shadows. By giving this creative freedom, we were blessed with additional scenes that added flavor to amazing moments the Manga readers have been looking forward to seeing.
With Anime running more mainstream, the PO Box success of Demon Slayer, etc... My hope is the wonderful devs who work in the anime industry, along with the writers, get their due. Pay them and provide a good work environment. From someone who works in the game industry, when you see fans adore your work, it gives you that uplifting motivation to make it even better next time. Mappa also let Gege be involved with the extra content and adding things/flavor he wanted to do but couldn't because of manga time constraints. A good example of this was the expansion of Toji vs Megumi. It made that moment hit you in the gut so much more-so.
Kudos JJK, Gege, and Mappa. Amazing Episode.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Red Scale (2023)
A masterpiece episode with 20 minutes of adrenaline
This is the result of when CGI,2D animatiin, ligthing, concept art, and a good design all come together. The art supports the mood and choreographry of the fight and it never feels like it is the other way around.
We are see the first real fight with one of the best written characters in JJK, Choso. Not only was the fught a blessing to our eyes, it left users with a mysterious ending that only makes you ask for more.
Incredible... just incredible... All the small things are appreciated and thank you to everything who came together to make this amazing episode and do it justice from the manga.
My favorite moments:
- The don't stop from Inumaki when the screen does dark to show the episode title
- The blending of all art disciplines and the amazing ebbs and flows of the fight
- Showing how and why the blood manipulation cursed technique is cherished among the Kamo clan
- The ending leaving you begging for what happened at the end.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light (2023)
Such good production and story telling
Everyone knows the animation, bonds, and battles are satisfying to watch. What is underestimated is Ufotable's ability to improve on certain aspects of the manga to better fill in the important points of the story the author is trying to share. The theme of passing things to the next generation is one of the most important.
This final for the Swordsmith Village Arc was so well done. I thought the scene where Nezuko kicked Tanjiro away was one of the most emotional moments in the story. I know it brought me to tears reading the manga, which rarely happens for me.
I have zero doubts that the final two arcs will be adapted without losing any quality. Some of my favorite themes of this story take place in the next two Arcs, and everything begins to tie together around the important life messages the author is sharing.
10/10 for me.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Love Hashira Mitsuri Kanroji (2023)
Loving the season so far
Would love to make a Pro's and Con's list but the Pro's would surely take up all the review space. Here are the few cons:
- Go back to old Japanese, older style music
- Bring back the more dark atmosphere where you really do not know if someone will live or die
- The Love Hashira deserved another episode, like Takito
- When Kanroji did get her katana around the Hatred spawn, she should have at-least cut off the head while the sound wave attack commenced
- There was a big disconnect between Kanroji helping Sword Smith chief and her arriving to help Tanjrio and the squad. I feel like they could have used some extra scenes to bridge this gap
- I don't mind the comedy injections but go back to the serious tone that season 1, Mugen Train, and season 2
- I wish there was some emotional attachment involved with Upper 4 and one of the Hashira's or main characters, such as killing a relative
Again, still 10/10 season for me so far.
Chainsaw Man: Bruised & Battered (2022)
Training Arc done right
Finally, something that is more realistic for an anime training mini-arc. Loving the show so far. Great writer, outstanding animation, and an amazing Camera Dev. It feels like everyone put their all into this series.
I really hope we get to know which Devils Kishibe has contacts. I'm sure we will see him in action sometime in the future. It does make sense for the up-coming mission that he is taking more of a leadership role. Since devils are being trained and more fiends brought to Special Division 4, he is likely one of the few Devil hunters who can keep some powerful fiends in line. Power doesn't try to leave public safety because she values self preservation, something all devils seem to seek.
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (2019)
Very Underrated Show
While Rising of the Sheild hero has many Isekai tropes, this series is severely underrated. The reason it is popular is writing good and there is always a mystery with each plot. The world building is amazing as well as the writing around character development.
It is really worth watching.
Shingeki no Kyojin: Memories of the Future (2022)
Amazing writing and plot reveals
Starting to close gaps on so many of the remaining mysteries around AoT. Learning the Attack Titans true power, something people have likely always wondered, especially since it doesn't seem as unique or powerful to many of the other Titans.
This is fiction writing at its best. I feel blessed to live in this time and watch this show. Not only is it one of the best shows/manga I have ever watched/read, it does a priceless job showing how authority and people always 'being drunk on something' impacts people's lives.
A must watch for anyone, anime or non anime fan.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Gathering (2022)
Can't miss episode
Simply put:
- Amazing animation and fight scenes
- Character develop for Uzui and why he behaves as he does. Cannot wait for more of his backstory
- Uzui's inferiority complex well explained and how he makes up for it without being born with some innate talent of other peers
- Everyone uniting together to fight and evacuate people
- Overall amazing episode.
