Very good with a single exception
21 July 2023
Very nice series with a single exception: Finn. This one is a very ill-conceived character. A God-like witch with almost unlimited power that has no equal with the other ones. He could have vanquished all vampires and werewolves together bu then there wouldn't have been a show. Also the actor is very bad. He constructed his character over the top. But he himself is a bad actor, proof being the almost non-existent career. Very very annoying to watch, to the point where I mute the TV whenever he is on screen. Apart from him, a very solid series with talented actors. The script sometimes seems to drag its feet, but it finds its balance quickly.

1 star specifically for the awful ending
26 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Hey, writers! Do you think it's "cool" and "hip" for a series to have a bad ending? Bad, like the mother of all bad endings?

NO, IT ISN'T. It's frustrating. It's infuriating. You waste your time to see nine episodes only to see that demon win in the end.

I know you people are champions at twisted thinking and twisted art, but this is a popcorn series. And should conform to the happy-ending rule. It's not like you had to put Don Quixote on screen. No. You had perfect freedom to choose any ending you like.

Do you know what you managed to do? You just disgusted me and discouraged me to see any more Spanish series. It's pointless. Why should I waste my time only to remain in the end with the frustration?

I think my review will not be read by the people involved in this series and who might learn something useful because, let's face it, you people are garbage at English. I don't know of any other nation that is so allergic to English.

Lazy script but with impeccable acting
4 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The script was very very lazy. Infuriatingly lazy. Seems that it was sketched in one day.

Even the most basic requirements of good writing were neglected. For instance, in the last scene we cannot clearly see that the man held captive by the villain was rescued by the police. It would have taken a single second to show him passing through the scene accompanied by a police officer so that we can say "good, he's OK". No. Even this very simple reasoning did not enter the writer's mind. As I said, very lazy.

However, the actors were impeccable, as always. They are doing the most they can with the lousy scripts that they are handed.

There is a certain trend to take an "interesting" approach to a script. This one is just shallow.

Horrible lack of respect towards one of the greatest singers of all time
3 September 2022
A talentless French actress with a minimal portfolio decided to direct and star in a movie about one of the greatest singers of all time, Celine Dion.

Because Celine wouldn't have anything to do with this trainwreck of a movie she was renamed Aline Dieu.

The results are catastrophic. Celine is in real life an very intelligent and funny person, with a heart of gold. This Lemercier fraud managed to picture her as a peasant simpleton with no charm, wits or anything in her head.

Also, Celine is a stunningly beautiful lady. Lemercier poured her own traumas of the ugly person that she is into the character.

The idiotic Aline Dieu character has nothing to do with Celine Dion.

Someone please do Celine justice and make a movie that would really picture her and her life in the right way.

Beautiful but with one miss
28 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The British retain their status as kings of movies and series.

Absolutely beautiful. Beyond the sex scenes there is wonderful character development. Current teenage issues are delicately treated and primitive and blunt activism and wokeness are maintained to a minimum.

The only issue I had is with Eric. This character is a mainly a sloppy collection of stereotypes. Quite a miss for actor Ncuti Gatwa, who does not seem to be a great actor. BTW, he is to be the future Dr Who, ensuring the further downfall of the series which is already ruined beyond repair.

All other actors are to be commended. Gillian Anderson is spotless as she always is. A special mention to actor Connor Swindells, who managed a unique rendition of the gay-bullying son of the principal, turning out to be bi (or gay?).

Venom - Let There Be Discussions About Carnage
28 June 2022
So much talk, talk, talk, talk... Main writer is Kelly Marcel. How would this one know to write a successful superhero action movie? Fifty Shades of Gray, then Venom? Really? Because she's Da Vinci reincarnated? Brilliant at absolutely everything she's laid eyes on?

The mother of all failures
14 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this episode a rating of 1 / 10 because of the script.

So Olivia is the only one who can make a crack between the two universes. Alternate Olivia has never participated in any trials for Cortexiphan because there was no Cortexiphan in the alternate universe. So alteernate Olivia has no special abilities. They substitute Olivia with alternate Olivia and somehow the crack between the universes appears even though that machine was just a door-stopper.

Don't get me started on William with his unstable atoms which he nevertheless totally controls and consequently supplies them with a steady stream of power. Is this Harry Potter?

Infuriatingly weak.

Cheap and amateurish
9 May 2022
This is more like a school project than a movie. Which is bad, because the actors are good.

It had to be stained by a very idiotic and pointless lesbian first love nonsense. It was so predictable from the very beginning. Because every movie has to be tarnished in some way. Nothing gets to stay normal. Everything has to be putrid.

This is the second time I post this review, no doubt that first time some blue haired tubular being was oh-so-offended that I mocked its fringe orientation that it felt it would rather die than to keep my review. Funny. And sad.

Very good horror, just not for bozos
31 March 2022
This is a very good horror. And a deep one.

Of course the brain-dead have ganged up upon this particular movie.

This has no same sex plot, kisses, sex scenes. This is not about all kind of strange minorities being pushed down our throats. This is not about blue-haired undetermined somethings that think they are better than the rest of the people only because they are fringe psychos.

This is about faith. And the fight between God and evil. And how God wins. You know, the real one. The one in the Bible.

So, this cannot be tolerated. Therefore the low ratings. Some clowns were bored. Of course they were bored. Not much blood and guts spilled here. No perversions. No nudity. What is there to watch, for a mentally deranged spectator? Pretty much nothing.

The acting was good, the script was good. Just see it.

In a Godless world, releasing a movie about God is not a good idea.

Horribly Downton Abbeyish

This is Downton Abbey all over again. The music, the big house, the kitchen, the butler, EVERYTHING.

I was so disappointed in this.

Why would I want to eat an old reheated dish?

So beautiful
19 February 2022
Good movie about self-acceptance and acceptance of gay teens.

The main two characters are played by very good budding actors. The other roles are also impeccably played by actors who are familiar faces.

Convincing story told in a very simple and realistic voice. There is no fluff and no pointless activism here, although the message is clear.

And it is not about two gay boys falling in love with each other, but about two gay boys who become friends and support each other in the most surprising circumstances.

The movie is very elegant in a way, in which no gay sexual or romantic activity is shown, because there was no need for it. And kudos for the director / writer for not falling into this common trap.

Also, thank you for the happy ending. I am quite fed up with movies of the genre ending badly.

It's not THAT bad
6 February 2022
This movie received a lot of scathing reviews, almost all from fellow Romanian citizens. This comes as a surprise, but derives from Romania being a very psychologically wounded and self-harming country.

This is not an Oscar aspiring movie. It's just a comedy with some action, and it does its entertaining job. The acting is average to good. It's not as bad as others said. The humor is sometimes dry but this is by design.

The most alarming thing is that leftist cancer is already crawling in the Romanian psyche. There is one creepy commentator complaining (well of course, let's start complaining and being offended) about "sexism". Sexism about what? In a movie about sex-slave trafficking? Or about the six female troopers? It's comedy, honey. Grow up. Movies are not for alleviating your own frustrations, dear tormented Romanian birthing person viewer.

Yes, there are some things I don't like either, for instance why do a Romanian businessman (Codin Maticiuc) or playboy/motorcyclist (the laughable in real life Catalin Cazacu) have to masquerade as actors? However, they were not so bad as to harm the movie. Average at best, but not bad.

Or, why did we have to get a Romanian actor (Gica Craioveanu) to speak such bad Spanish that even I, a non-speaker of Spanish, would cringe every time he open his mouth?

However, on the whole this was a comedy that made me laugh. So it was successful.

I would advise the people who loaded the movie on IMDb to better manage the actors' profiles; having skeleton profiles with no pictures is not OK.

I am disappointed not in the movie, but in the infuriating content of Romanian reviews. It's ugly. It's ridiculous in the eyes of balanced foreign people. We are making fools of ourselves.

Weak, as expected
5 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The next stage of the Chinese destruction of Western culture is unfolding. As we could clearly see, after 2008 China made some sort of arrangement with a desperate US to penetrate into the mass-media and entertainment business, that would grant them long-term influence over the Western minds.

This is the next stage. We will see more and more of unnecessary Chinese stuff on our screens. Just to gain a corner of our minds. And I very much doubt this review will ever see publication, since the liberal moderators were also educated and influenced with Chinese money.

There is something special about this
22 January 2022
The direction was mediocre, filming as well.

I also wouldn't say that the actors were the best in the world.

HOWEVER... This is the gay couple with the best chemistry I have ever seen in a movie. Ever. It's like they are a loving couple in real life and they starred in this movie. The script was childish most of the time, but please pay attention to their body language and the way they look at each other. It's unique.

This is why I gave this one a 9. I have never seen anything like them.

EDIT: I was speaking about the full movie, which is about 1h 40min.

Beautiful
16 January 2022
Charming short movie. I am truly impressed with the performance of Marty Lauter, who perfectly portrayed a deaf dancer.

After a little googling I found out that he is not deaf in reality and I was amazed. His acting was perfect and so natural in every little detail. I would never guessed that in reality he can hear.

I am happy so far there was no reaction of the type "why would a non-deaf actor portray a deaf character?".

Good low budget
16 January 2022
Make no mistake, this is no Oscar material.

However, there is a freshness and soulfulness about this movie. The acting is not always perfect (and don't get me started on the singing) but, as Statler-and-Waldorf as I usually am, I was able to overlook the imperfections.

Granted, the two main characters are more charming and lifelike than most pixel-perfect actors.

Kudos for the happy ending, I am so fed up with bad endings that have no reason other than to make the movie edgy or whatever.

There was a short TV series comedy planned in 2021 but sadly it seems it wasn't made.

Beautiful movie about a hell-hole of a country and a primitive sub-culture
15 January 2022
Well, if rural Turkey is really like this movie depicts it (and I see no reason why they would exaggerate), then to hell with it. And with those backwards primitive so-called traditions that they have. Really, to the bloody hell with that whole country.

This movie is well done. All actors are good. Especially the Turkish actors playing the parents are very believable and they manage to convey beautifully the stupidity of real ones. The main actors are also good and there is a refreshing simplicity in their portrayal of gay lovers.

The ending is quite happy and comforting, which is something I really salute, given the amount of gay-themed movies with terrible endings.

Minimalistic but beautiful
15 January 2022
What strikes the viewer is that absolutely everything in this movie is 100% realistic and credible.

The two main actors are great. They do have great chemistry but it is understated as is everything in this movie. A touch of hand, a hand on the other one's shoulder is enough. If you're looking for flamboyance here, you will be disappointed. Even the sex scene is short and in good taste, with no unnecessary frontal nudity and not going paste initial kisses and embraces; also, the initial hesitation of Victoras is charming.

I don't get the comments about Victoras being unpleasant. He was probably not wanted in his mother's new marriage abroad, left behind with his grandmother and forced to take temporary jobs to make ends meet. That's enough for a young man to turn bitter.

I really did like the ending, which is also life-like. Leaves you satisfied and hopeful. So many similar themed movies have a bad ending which I think is most unfair to the viewers.

130 millions thrown out the window for your talentless son, Will Smith???
8 January 2022
Are you out of your mind, Will Smith? I mean, every parent sees their child as special. But this Jaden is a spoiled brat egomaniac clown with ZERO talent.

I tried to watch this movie. However, I am not the masochistic type. Some twenty minutes into this garbage I had to quit. Jaden Smith is not someone you can look at for extended periods of time when he tries to act.

The stupidity of the script is also beyond description.

I suspect some of those 130 million were spent on fake reviews on IMDb so that it could reach a 4.8 rating, when a 1.5 at most would have right.

Good movie. Pity they don't do them like that anymore.

Solid acting and an ending that leaves room for hope.

Fantastic movie, but can be appreciated only by intelligent people
5 January 2022
It baffles me how such people can exist: one reviewer said that the events could not happen because such an establishment would be closed in two weeks' time. Well, this one doesn't know a lot of history. And is such a self-entitled spoiled brat that he did not bother to check the facts. Because his beliefs are above facts. Way to go, little one! Soldier on through life with your little beliefs, until life will smack you so hard that you will have to humble down to reality.

I sincerely regret that IMDb, upon being bought by Amazon, ditched all dialogue between users (it was a calculated move, since it became the main bastion of liberalism and wokeness in movie culture, ready to accept false votes and reviews only to further the liberal agenda). I would have told him a lot more.

But, since this is not a review of the reviewers, back to the movie: this is raw power. It hits you like a sledge-hammer. During the movie I wanted to cry. And I was ashamed of being in the same species that did such unspeakable acts to their own. I am still in shock. This is a must-see.

Louis Hofmann was superb as usual. He was 17-18 at the time of making the movie! He is a titan among actors (of course, another reviewer - the only one ever - had the audacity to challenge his talent).

Why should I see this sadistic p.o.s.?
5 January 2022
It strikes me as idiotic that someone had this idea (based on a book or not), really thought hard, made a successful pitch to some other idiot and then a lot of actors agreed to prostitute themselves in order to make this sadistic garbage.

But why should I see such degenerate stuff? I am not a sadist, nor a masochist.

We have a limited life span, therefore we should value our time.

So many millions thrown away by some perverts for some perverts.

Why is this supposed to be a comedy?
2 January 2022
The whole tone of the mini-series is set wrong. If the comedic mood is supposed to be directed at the farce that was the "respectable" life of Thorpe and the mockery of justice that protected him, this was a bad decision. The whole show is just superficial.

It is not a comedy, I doubt that any of the real people involved saw anything comical in the events.

And the music is the worst I have seen in years. Slap a decent soundtrack on the mini-series and everything will improve. Not by much, because not much effort was put in the characters.

And why does Thorpe appear to be 60 when in reality he was around 40?

Destroyed by Laura Regan's weak performance
1 January 2022
This could have been of the best horror movies of it's time, had the director not cast Laura Regan as the lead.

Why on Earth he did not recast the role I cannot understand. She simply was not good enough of an actor.

Shame.

Acting was very good, the script not so much
1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The idea was quite interesting and the acting was very good with the exception of a very few moments when Mike Vogel was a little unsure and Jamie Murray was over the top. Not important, though.

However, the script and directing were somehow lacking. They went a little too far with the sadistic moments, some scenes were simply uncalled for.

There is a streak of insanity going through some British movies and this is one of them. It is somehow related with displaying tortured bodies of handsome men, so there's food for thought for you.

Nevertheless, it's a good supernatural thriller that has aged very well. It doesn't feel outdated at all.

It feels way over the general 5.6 rating at the moment of my writing.
