True Detective (2014)
Mistakes in storyline of Night Country
Great acting in Night Country, however the story has many mistakes. One of the big mistakes that I noticed was the Wheeler case. Supposedly the husband shot the wife and then shot himself. It comes up later that the wife was shot on the right hand side as the image was flipped. Shouldn't it be the husband's bullet wound and photo instead of the wife's? If the husband shot his wife, he is able to shoot from either side. However if you are left handed, you are only going to be able to shoot the left side of your head. Navarro shot the husband, as it shows later in the story. The photo of the Wheeler wife is irrelevant, as it should have been a photo of the husband that would have been flipped.
There are several other mistakes in that season.
Stranger Things (2016)
Excellent story...language not so great for kids.
Excellent story to share with the family. Season 3 use of God Damn, Jesus Christ and Jesus as slang, was said so often it was silly. Kids did not talk that way in the 80s. The only complaint about Season 3.
Joel-Peter Witkin - L'image indélébile (1994)
Insightful...
A very insightful documentary about Joel-Peter Witkin. It was great to see his thought process behind a few of his more popular art pieces. Maybe it was the version I've seen, but the quality is not all that great. Its hard to see the detail of his images. Maybe this needs to be redone in high def, so you can see the detail that he takes the time to make sure is in his art. The detail is the only reason I gave the film a 7, if you were able to see the detail in the film, I would rate it much higher. If you have heard of Joel-Peter Witkin, then this film is worth watching. Especially if you are familiar with his work.
Maybe there should be an updated version?? He's still alive and in New Mexico, right?
Halloween (2007)
Good, but not...
OK, I love Rob Zombie's idea of remaking Halloween, it is a good horror flick. All the necessities; teens, tits and blood. I'm glad he is not trying to remake a horror classic viewable for PG+ audiences and sticking with an R rating. The photography, color and lighting is great for a horror flick. I also love the fact that there is a little more background on Michael Meyers.
The biggest disappointment I have with Zombie's remake of Halloween is pretty much the same complaint I have of all his movies. Most of America is NOT white trash. Michael Meyers is scary (in the original film) BECAUSE he comes from the everyday-middle-class family. The fact that he came from a family that is such white trash with the horrible language and a stripper mom just makes him much less terrifying. It's a little scarier to think that the boy-next-door could turn into the devil.
My other complaint is how he portrays the rest of the town as complete morons. Does Mr. Zombie really think America is full of stupid people? I guess it does make it a little more realistic if a town full of idiots were being massacred, but wouldn't it be a little more frightening if it was everyday people being attacked? Where a madman is such a good monster that he can survive and massacre an entire town, with smart people in it? Like one of the small towns in Illinois where the story is supposed to take place?? I still look forward to seeing more of his stuff, but for crying out loud - stop making your killers AND victims such white trash. Make them a little more realistic. And if Mr. Zombie thinks America is full of white trash, maybe he should move to a new neighborhood ot at least travel to some more "average" America towns for some research.
