36 ore all'inferno (1969)
Starts Terrible, gets worse.
First, the date given for the start of the attack on Rabaul is two years too late. By November, 1945, the entire war was over . The dialogue is terrible, the Japanese accents are wrong, the uniforms look wrong. At one point, the Captain tells the lieutenant to take 5 men but he doesn't say where. Then he only takes 4 men, I guess he was including himself. Then the entire platoon stands around in a clearing and 10 men get killed but none wounded? Then the Captain is surprised that one of his men speaks Japanese. He would know that before he left. The gun noises are wrong too. The journalist is writing during an attack, he would be hiding in a hole! Then the idiot gets lost? He would have a private glued to him the whole time. Then a guy dies in quicksand because they don't have any rope?
The only positive part of this movie is the analogy of killing to drinking liquor which I found to be true and insightful.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Turned it off when the fleet turned around
I could not get any humour in this film because this is a real possibility and I could see a republican president ignoring it and dooming us all. Perlman's character was ridiculous. Great acting by DiCaprio and Lawrence but, sorry, the whole concept was just too scary for a comedy. I just don't find absolute stupidity funny.
Idiotest (2014)
Fun Show which challenges your Lateral Thinking
Very unique show which challenges your ability to think outside the box. The acerbic host calls people idiots because that's the premise of the show, you are an idiot if you miss the obvious answers. Yes, he is a little sexist at times but he has his truly funny moments too. The only negative is the poorly researched and worded questions. For example, one question stated that only twelve men went to the moon. This is absolutely wrong! 12 men walked on the moon but 6 more went as Command Module pilots and James Lovell went twice without walking on it. Jack Swigert and Fred Haise went in Apollo 13 but never landed. William Anders and Frank Borman went in Apollo 8 with Lovell but didn't land. 3 men went in Apollo 10 but didn't land. Two of them became moon walkers later. Three men went twice. All told, 24 different men went to the moon.
Kimi (2022)
Amazing film with a fantastic ending
I was intrigued by this movie title because Kimi is a character from an Anne McCaffrey novel and the name of a cat of my younger days. I had no intention of watching it all at once but the brilliant acting of Zoe Kravitz and all the other actors in the film along with a gripping story and magnificent direction, I could not turn away. I had no idea who wrote, directed and starred in this film until I saw the credits. I didn't recognize any of the actors but when I saw the credits, I immediately knew why it was such an amazing film. I live with an agoraphobic person and Zoe's performance was right on track. Many of the other characters are so true to life that I have even known a few people like them. Even the character of Kimi's often repeated line of "I'm here" is somehow reassuring. Please ignore the other review of this film as it is totally unfair to the people who put together this fantastic film.
