Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Like a children's cartoon
Just awful. I suspect that the 10 star reviews were only given 10 stars to "make up for" the (accurate) 1 and 2 star reviews. If this movie is a 10 then what is A Few Good Men or Schindler's List or The Departed?
I couldn't make it any further than the first "action" sequence where Thor holds apart 2 cars or whatever they were with his legs in a split.
This movie is for children. Like little children. It's basically a He Man cartoon. I don't see how an adult can find anything of redeeming value here. I saw Thor and The Dark World. While not anything spectacular they were at least entertaining and I didn't feel insulted. Love and Thunder is like 2 junior high schoolers did a cgi project for computer class.
I downloaded it for free and I still want my money back.
Death on the Nile (2022)
I couldn't make it more than 20 minutes
I can understand the first scene maybe setting the stage for something later but the entire ballroom scene was only there to say "look what we can do". We get it, Hollywood has elaborate costumes and set design. It's been done before. We're not impressed. At that point I stopped watching. It was clear that the rest of the movie would only be a self-aggrandizing mess. And Gal Gadot isn't half as good as they are trying to make us believe.
The Walking Dead: The Lucky Ones (2022)
Absolutely excruciating
Ask yourself, are there any characters left that you actually care about? Eugene's schtick is beyond tired. Maggie is totally unlikeable, case in point, her main beef is that Negan killed her husband yet she has no qualms about slaughtering the remaining Reapers even though they no longer posed a threat. Listening to Princess is brutal. Rosita is insufferable. Negan, the most likeable character has been all but removed from the plotline. I know the show isn't "The Negan Hour" but don't you have to feature your most popular character as least a little? Do they really expect Christian Serratos to carry the show? And regardless of how good an actor Josh McDermitt is, "one can only muster the necessary fortitude to withstand his verbal idiosyncrasies for a certain, limited period of minutes, after which time his long-winded ramblings become like the proverbial fingernails on a chalkboard."
Yes, we know something is off with the Commonwealth, just as it was with The Governor and The Whisperers and The Wolves and Terminus and The Scavengers. But Lance and Pamela are just blah. They're not really bad. They're not really good. Just like anyone else. Maybe that will be played out in future episodes but how long do we have to wait for something to happen?
I'm pretty much done watching. I may give it another chance while I'm scrolling through my phone or doing something else, but with what this show has become I don't know how it can hold anybody's attention beyond "I've come this far, I might as well watch the rest".
