Yijae, Got Jookseummida (2023)
Add This One to Watchlist
Began binge-watching this series last night...held back on last few epsodes. This is an excellent, stellar series; so glad I checked it out - my initial reason being Lee Jae Wook, an excellent young actor - but from very beginning this story just kept moving forward and becoming more and more absorbing. As usual, the entire cast, from main actors to supporting actors sprinkled everywhere are all talented professionals and unique in their parts - I have found this in so many of the k-dramas I have watched over last couple years; sometimes you even love the Bad Guy! Learning some unkown things about Korean culture through their productions, there is love and comedy, but the dark side of poverty & despair; rich or poor, expectations of children, the extreme bullying and physical abuse of school children by peers and adults, which also carries over in the workforce, corruption - but redemption. Hell, how can you not make good dramas with all these elements sitting there. Give this one a try!
Ga-lyeo-jin si-gan (2016)
Love Knows No Bounds
First, I've read through the other reviews here and happy to see that each in their own way express my same feelings about this movie and the Korean movie industry...I have been watching Korean kdrama movies, comedies, series for well over the past year...I am honest when I say, I rarely watch a English speaking production these days, and when I do...I am usually disappointed in the quality. There is just something about the abilities of the Koreans and Japanese to tell a story that makes you laugh, laugh and cry and hold on to your breath and seat. This moview, Vanishing Time, did all those things for me.
It is a fantasy love story - of innocent young and devoted love with twists along the lines of Shyamalan. One could over-analyze the story and the ending, but it's about two young teens first love struggling against all fanstasy odds to stay together - the story, the acting, visuals, music make it perfect.
Daman akeseo guhasoseo (2020)
Excellent drama action thriller
This movie was top-knotch; really enjoyed every minute of it. The entire cast were all good in their respective roles - besides the two main characters In-nam and the Ray the Butcher, I really enjoyed the actor Park Jeong-min as charcter Yui who played his/her role very well.
It was an action drama with lots of guns & violence but not quite overdone - everything with the story line flowed well and you weren't scratching your head wondering...well, maybe in the very beginning when all of a sudden the ex-lover came into play...it was sort of vague that relationship, but didn't rack my brain over it - it all blended in - So I've made my required number of characters for this view without giving away too much. Watch it! Great action movie!
Juvenile Justice (2022)
Excellent Kdrama!
This week, on #NetflixSeries, I found the #kdrama #JuvenileJustice and am now on Ep 6 - I am sad to learn that this drama will not have a second season, it was - but #Netflix chose to cancel just as cast/production was set to go. This is one of the best actual #dramas I have seen in a long time; the subject, the cases, the lives as they intertwine are excellent dealing with real life situations and the people affected by them.
Can't say enough about the main character actress #KimHyeSoo (#UnderTheQueensUmbrella) as Judge #ShimEunSeok - she is a superb actress and her associate #KimMuYeol as Judge #ChaTaeJoo; between the two of them - an excellent core to this drama. Of course, as I am finding, the entire casting of this series is also excellent, each character bringing their own talents to blend in.
#Netflix has many "fluff" kdramas set for this 2023 season, and all will be worthy I am sure - but to go outside the breezy love stories and find one of the actual Korean Dramas - there are a few too - is refreshing - what is sad, is that this one - Juvenile Justice - will not be returning this season.
Birkebeinerne (2016)
Kristofer Hivju as Torstein
I really liked this movie / genre - and no matter what I see Kristofer Hivju in, he always brings such a great touch of personality in each character - you can't help but love him.
The Parts You Lose (2019)
Well done!
Well-acted by all, young boy was great and yes, it is a "Quiet, Thoughtful..." movie; I enjoyed watching how it evolved. Aaron Paul as actor and producer of this movie - he's done a excellent job here. No senseless, over-violent action movie here, which is fine for me - so it may not be for some.
