Dark Harvest (2023)
So unbearably stupid
This film is so unbearably stupid. It's as if they had an idea that they thought was good, but then could not figure out how to implement it in to an actual film. From characters with guns that just plain don't use them to the convoluted plot that has so many stupid holes it'll make your head spin. For instance the human body can survive for about three days with no fluids. Now imagine how weak you'd be on that third day, and that's if you were still alive in the first place. The parents lock their kids in their rooms for three days without food or water, then makes these kids go out on "the run" to kill the pumpkin head thing. Those kids would be so weak that they couldn't swat a mosquito let alone try and kill a monster. And that's just one one the many bs flaws that this film has, like the main character watching his friends die but minutes later laughing and smiling like it's just another fun day at the mall. I'm all for the suspension of belief in film but in this case I felt as though the filmmakers were literally questioning the viewer's intelligence, trying to see if they could get away with the most incompetent garbage that they could and still keep viewers in their seats. No, don't do it, save yourself the aggravation and skip this admittedly competently made but stupidly written movie.
Blood Red Sky (2021)
If you like watching somebody make stupid decisions this movie's for you.
I'd like to start out by saying that I was quite excited to see this film. That excitement waned when they ruined one of the more suspenseful aspects of the film right away by showing that the plane lands. Not a spoiler, this happens right at the beginning of the film. A bit later in the film the lead makes an unbelievably stupid decision just to move the plot along in the filmmakers intended direction. They could've gotten there without having the lead character make such a stupid decision, it felt like the filmmakers were questioning my intelligence by going the route that they did. I know that incompetence is a key to most horror films, making bad decisions is a staple of the horror genre. But this was too much. When you're trying to save your child, not to mention all the other passengers on the plane, you use your powers to your advantage not stifle them like a moron. So that along with the 2 hour running time made this film mostly unenjoyable for me, very disappointed. Watch 30 days of night instead, a much more enjoyable film with a somewhat similar theme on vampires.
Proximity (2020)
The music ruins an already mediocre film.
I think that I just watched a Christian film with aliens. I was expecting Kirk Cameron to pop out at the end, this was a movie with potential but squandered almost all of it. And don't get me started on the music, this was the single worst soundtrack that I have ever heard in a film. I would've rated it a few stars higher but the music didn't fit the scenes they were placed in. Sadly I cannot recommend it but I am curious as to what the filmmakers can do in their future endeavors.
Hell Is Where the Home Is (2018)
Unbelievable
The writing is atrocious, I cannot believe that anybody would ever act like this. They have an easy way out, the only prints on the gun are the jackass who caused the trouble in the first place's prints yet they still try and hide the fact that he got stabbed in self defense? Seriously? I can understand stretching your imagination for the sake of a film but this is just a slap to the face of everyone that watches this abomination. I have never written a review on IMDb like this but Trespassers has got to have one of the worst premises that I have ever had to endure. Yes, endure. This movie was straight up painful. During a tense moment in the film where you're unsure if the guy with the gun is going to just kill you all because he's incredibly unstable you admit to cheating on him? Really? REALLY? I'm so angry that the makers of this garbage would believe that we, the viewers, would believe that any human being could be this incompetent. This stupid. This inept. Don't do it, don't watch this trash. The writing is so horrendous that I rank this film right up there with Manos Hands of Fate in the bad movie department. When the home invaders finally show up it's too late, the filmmakers have already questioned the viewers intelligence to the point of no return. Please, save yourself from this head scratchingly awful film and find something, anything else to watch.
