Lindan Huone (2024)
Girls can keep secrets
Linda is a 15 year old girl trying to get through her last year of Finnish basic education phase. Her grades are low and she would only like to focus on boxing. Her trainer is her step dad Jukka who puts a lot of pressure on Linda.
For improving her grades Linda asks help from a nice guy she has mutual friends with. Kristian is smart and caring but soon their relationship is more than just a study group. Linda doesn't seem really emotionally invested but sexual experimenting makes Kristian think she is. When the time goes on, Kristian starts to get frustrated because of Lindas emotional distance and her habit of avoiding discussion about their relationship.
One drunken party leads to a huge misunderstanding between the two and the whole school starts whispering around what happened. Lindas friends are worried that she is taking time off from anyone. Linda starts too loose it and eventually comes clean to her best friend what is going on. The whole truth is much worse than what happened in the party.
Lindan huone, Lindas room, is a thrilling mystery that leaves you mind blown and disgusted but at the same time hopeful and yearning for more.
It (2017)
One of the best remakes
Sometimes remakes suck but it's safe to say the original IT wasn't very good. It made many people afraid of clowns and this remake focus on that too but makes it so much better. Bill Skarskård makes excellent job playing Pennywise. Many times the monster becomes less scary the more you see it - IT is an exception with this. The clown itself is absolutely terrifying every time.
Storyline is interesting but classic. Losers become are hated but try to save the day. The possibility for sequel is slided intelligently to the story. This movie is easy to follow and watch except the scary scenes. Many horror films are boring outside intimidating scenes but this is not.
Main characters in horror movies are not usually children which is personal choice - done originally of course by Stephen King who uses child characters a bit more. Some of the charcters feel irrelevant in the movie though.
This movie doesn't explain too much but leaves the audience satisfied and maybe yearning for more. I watched this originally in the movies and was scared years after this. Balloons and carnevals? No thanks.
