Awful Acting, Awful Film
23 April 2002
This has to be one of the worst films I have ever had the misfortune to see. The general idea of a coronal mass ejection hitting the planet earth with EM disruption is fair enough, but where did they get the idea that humans could survive a sustained 155ºF? The acting was so terrible I got the feeling that the casting agents simply grabbed a handful of people off of Santa Monica Boulevard and threw them in front of the camera. In all honesty I have seen less wooden acting from my ironing board. Sorry, but this film was poor, poor, poor.

Casualty (1986– )
Does the term "Flogging a Dead Horse" spring to mind?
16 March 2002
When this show first began I was still a schoolboy and I loved it because my dream was to be a nurse in a casualty unit. Since that time I have realised that dream, and also realised what utter tripe this show has become. True to BBC drama form these days it seems that everything must be miserable or depressing to be considered good drama. Over the years I have seen the show deteriorate into the realms of nothing more than a political hobby horse. Bearing little resemblance to reality in any way all this show does for me is ensure I turn over stat!

A View into the Lives and Practices of ...
14 March 2002
I shan't beat about the bush, I love this film.

I grew up very close to where it was all filmed, although I was only 2 or 3 when they filmed it. I have seen this film so many times now that I have lost count, and every time I see it I am still left with a chill down my spine. Although this film creeps me out (and I consider myself to be closer to paganism than Christianity)I can go some way to forgiving the people of Summerisle, after all, he was exceptionally pompus and irritating.

A Heartwarming Tale of Life and Love
27 February 2002
A film which deals with a group of people living in the tower blocks of South London, in particular the lives of two teenage boys coming to terms with their homosexuality and falling in love. There is also a great sense of comedy and it has many "classic" lines and I was often in tears both of laughter and of joy for the two principle characters, especially in the final scene where they came out to the world in such a beautiful way. Overall I was struck by how sensitively the subject was handled and I was left with a real feeling of warmth and kindness toward my fellow man, and I know I shall enjoy watching it again and again. Whist the subject matter may suggest it, this is not a gay movie, instead it is a film for anyone who enjoys a good love story. In particular it would recommend it to anyone coming out, or parents of teenage children that have just told them they are gay.
