Great world building only the story is fine
6 March 2023
CARNIVAL ROW SEASON 1:

Director: Travis Beacham and René Echvarria Stars: Orlando Bloom, Cara Delevingne, Simon McBurney, Tamzin Merchant, David Gyasi and Karla Crome Genre: Crime, Drama, Fantasy, Mystery, Thriller Episodes: 8 Release Year: 2019

The reason I started this series right now is of course because of its 2nd season and I have to say I'm glad I started it. However, I really had to get into it. The build up of the series is really very slow. I liked the first 5 episodes, except for episode 3, which is really good. I can immediately say that Orlando Bloom and Cara Delevingne have really good chemistry in the series. I missed this a bit in the beginning, but as the series progressed it became more and more important. I was a bit skeptical at first but afterwards I can say for sure that the world building is really very good and I am very curious where the 2nd season will go. There is only something else that bothered me a bit and that is that one of the storylines doesn't interest me that much and it doesn't really add anything to the whole story until now. I think they could have given more attention to the other storylines. The quality of the series is really very good and the setpieces are really incredibly beautifully made. I've really been amazed and can't wait to see more of it. The actors also play very well. I think it's really a shame that in some storylines I missed a bit of cohesion with the other lines and that the build-up was a bit slow.

A nice series with only a few flaws here and there
9 February 2023
Season 1: I heard really positive reactions to this series and it was really a shame that I had never seen this. Now that I've seen it, I must honestly say that I think it's a bit overhyped. Maybe season 2 will be better. I don't want to say that the series is bad at all not only I think it is less than most other people. Pedro Pascal is really great in the role and I'm a really, really big fan of his acting. There were also nice characters in the series. The thing that annoyed me the most was that some episodes felt a bit like filler and I don't think that's a bad thing, but overall the story could have been a bit more extensive. Maybe I was expecting too much from the series. Furthermore, Grogu is really very cute and the soundtrack is really very good. I was really amazed by the soundtrack. What I also like is that this series is a bit smaller than for example andor. I don't think that every series and film needs to contribute more to the entire universe. I kind of liked this because now you feel more like it's much broader than just all the jedis and sithlords. I definitely recommend watching, because every episode feels unique and different and that was something I found very positive.

Willow (2022–2023)

A series I expected more from
21 January 2023
WILLOW

Director: Jonathan Kasdan Stars: Ruby Cruz, Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Erin Kellyman, Amar Chadha-Patel and Warwick Davis Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Fantasy, Romance episodes: 8 Release year: 2022

I had seen the trailer of this series and I was really curious despite never having seen the movie. I had seen the first episode and I was actually a bit disappointed. I was hoping that the upcoming episodes would get better, but unfortunately they didn't. What bothers me is that the dialogue just isn't very good and the series was made a bit too quickly I feel. What is really a very nice thing is that the characters are really fantastic! Willow is really, really cool and actually there are hardly any characters that I really dislike. What I also like is that every episode takes place in a slightly different place. This is not in the beginning, as the first half of the season takes place almost entirely in a forest. What I actually find a bit unfortunate is that the series sometimes takes itself a bit too seriously. I have to say that the last episode is really the best. The action is not equally good everywhere I must say. I liked the action in the last 2 episodes, but before that there are a number of action scenes that are really not that good. What I also find a bit unfortunate is that the villains in the story are not really enough in my opinion. I really wanted to see more of them and I really think it's a shame that we didn't see much more than a few action scenes from some of the characters. I really only recommend this series if you're a fan of willow or if you just want to watch something fun and you don't care if it's good.

This is something you must watch! (season 4 review)
13 January 2023
Review season 4 I still have a lot to say. There are almost no downsides to this series. Let me start with the fact that the characters are all fantastic and Eddie in particular is a really great addition to the cast. I think his character arc is phenomenal. I can say something positive about everyone. I'm watching this season for the 4th time now and it's still very good. In fact, now that I watch it for the 2nd time, I notice more and more details. What I also really like about the series is that everyone can compare themselves to a character. Furthermore, this is a bit of the season with the denouement of all your questions. The special effects look very good. What I actually like the most in terms of story is that this season really brings you back to the first season. This season also brings back several characters from seasons 1 and 2. I still have to say it, but argyle and murry are the funniest characters in the series. Almost everything they say is so funny! I laughed incredibly hard several times. I think that's really cool anyway if you don't just have to laugh in a series, but also cry and watch enthusiastically. I think that all emotions pass by at some point and that is really something that is great! Yes, I really shed some tears at the end of season 4. I really can't wait for the 5th season. Unfortunately that will take a while... I must also say that this feels a bit like a comfort series. This is truly something I could watch for hours. It never gets annoying. If you haven't seen it yet, what are you waiting for? Now fire up Netflix and go watch it.

Season 4: 10/10.

Review season 3 I always thought this was kind of the most unique season of stranger things. And I certainly mean that in a good way. This is the 2nd time I've watched this season now and for some reason I thought a lot of the same thing happened and not that much anyway. I've now seen it again and I found out that actually every episode is very unique. There is of course a Russian event in this season which I will not spoil but I thought that was a very nice part. And as with everything from stranger things, there are also a lot of pieces that really put a smile on my face. This season is also very funny thanks to Murray. I'm not going to give too much away, but there is also a kind of terminator character in the series and I would have liked to see a bit more of him. Because you actually know almost nothing about him and I think that's a bit of a shame. It actually kind of feels like he's there to push the story along a bit and that was it. But that's actually my biggest flaw. Other than that, this is another very good season. They sometimes say that opinions change and that is certainly true with me. I had first given an 8.5 this season, while I will certainly bet a bit higher now. I also cried really hard at the end and I think most will too.

Season 3: 9.5.

This is really worth a watch
29 December 2022
1899 Director: Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese Stars: Emily Beecham, Aneurin Barnard, Andreas Pietschmann, Miguel Bernardeau, José Pimentao and Isabella Wei Genre: Drama, Mystery episodes: 8 Release Year: 2022

I'm not into the horror genre and when I heard that this series could be a bit scary at times I immediately turned it down. I finally went to see it and I can say that I actually don't find it scary at all. So for the people who don't like horror this is certainly a very nice start. What I love about the story is that it keeps getting weird and weird. The first three episodes are really just another build up to the series and I hear some people say they find it a little hard to get into because of this but I personally wasn't bothered by this. I'm going to give my negative first so that I can only say good things about this series. I actually found the last two episodes a bit weird. I'm not going to spoil anything, but sometimes they moved a bit exaggerated up and down during something that I won't spoil. Furthermore, I also thought it was a bit of a shame that the last two episodes were stretched a bit too much by certain things. The rest of the series was really great. I can honestly say that this is clearly one of the better series this year. The characters are really really cool. In the beginning I had a bit of a problem that there were too many characters, but afterwards I had no problems with that at all. I really like that all the characters are so different, so you also see the different opinions and reactions. The story itself is also very interesting and I was really happy that everything fell into place in the end. The actors also play really, really well. Especially the main character and the captain are really the two nicest characters in the series. I can go very deep into certain points, but then I will reveal things. I really highly recommend watching this series.

A great spin-off
1 December 2022
WEDNESDAY

Director: Alfred Gough and Milles Millar Stars: Jenna Ortega, Gwendoline Christie, RiKi Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan and Percy Hynes White Genre: Comedy, Crime, Family, fantasy, Mystery episode: 8 episodes

I've really been looking forward to this series for a long time and that while this is my first contact with the addams family. I'm going to say right away that the character they've picked is really fantastic to make a spin-off about. Jenna Ortega plays really, really well and it's that I don't like horror that much, otherwise I would really like to see more of her in similar roles. At first the series reminded me a bit of Harry Potter and you can also compare it to that. That is where my first point of criticism comes in, and that is that it sometimes looks a bit too much like Harry Potter. Sometimes things have been taken literally and I thought that was a bit of a shame. I don't mean to say that I think the series is stolen, but it could have had a bit more of its own style (especially at the beginning), especially with regard to the school. The characters in the series are really, really nice. What I also really like about those characters is that they all have a little caracter arch. Not a very big one, just big enough in my opinion for a first season. What I also liked was that the Addams family also gets a little more backstory in the series. I will now go straight to my last point of criticism and that is that the series is perhaps a bit too much aimed at children. Yes, it is really very dark at times, but I would have preferred that the dialogue, for example, be a little less aimed at children. What I also want to say is that the soundtrack is really fantastic again. I definitely recommend watching this series. If I had to describe this series in short I would say that it is a nice spin-off with nice side characters but that is a bit too much aimed at children. There are some parts that gave me goosebumps. I'm mainly talking about the final episode.

Andor (2022– )

a great fun series that puts the character: Cassian Andor even better on the map.
25 November 2022
ANDOR

Director: Tony Gilroy Stars: Diego Luna, Kyle Soller, Stellan Skarsgard, Genevieve O'Reilly, Denise Gough and Adria Arjona Genre: Action, Adventure, Drama, Sci-FI, Thriller Episodes: 12

WOW, I am really surprised by this great series. In my opinion this is truly one of the best series of 2022. I say this not only because I am a star wars fan but also because it is seriously good. Let me first start by saying that this is really a very good side for star wars. I really hope the quality of this series sets an example for the rest of the upcoming content coming to Disney+. The character: Cassian Andor is really expanded in a really nice way. What I like about the series is that it is not only a series about him, but it is also about the rebels themselves. I therefore really regret that this series is not as great as obi-wan kenobi was. I'll just say what really gave me goosebumps and that's the speeches. There are some very good ones especially in the 10th and 12th episode there are very good ones. What I also really like is that this series not only shows the side of the rebels, but also the side of the empire. That's something I find very unique about this series. Perhaps the only downside to the series is that the action is not quite well distributed. It has a bit of the 3 episode structure and it didn't bother me, only this made sure that some episodes really jumped out. The action in the series is really, really good. What is also nice is that the series no longer only plays on tattoos, but now also continues. All the characters are very well thought out. I highly recommend watching this series if you like Star Wars.

A fun but silly movie
29 October 2022
I really wanted to watch this film, only in the Netherlands that was not possible until skyshowtime (steaming service) came out. I was very happy, because despite the bad reviews I was very curious because Owen Wilson was involved. I can already say that he can be quite a superhero. I have to say that as a mobius in loki I think he is better as a superhero but still. The rest of the cast played pretty well too. Unfortunately, I also don't like this movie that much and that's mainly because it actually gets too silly. There are some funny jokes here and there but most of the time it's just a bit too much. There is also a scene in the film where they really stick around for a very long time. I'm not going to say which scene that is because of my spoiler-free review, it was just way, way too long. I really like the CGI in the film I must say. Not everywhere, just on most parts though. Unfortunately, I found the story a bit too simple and there isn't a whole lot more story than what you see from the trailer. I really regret that. This movie has a nice cast with good CGI only with a too silly story. I give this movie a 4.7 out of 10 and recommend you watch it if you like the trailer. Despite the lesser story, the film was certainly very entertaining and it certainly doesn't feel like wasted time. To compare it with another superhero movie, I think this movie is a lot better than Samaritan, to be honest. I probably won't watch this movie again, only maybe I'll feel like diving back into this world someday.

A series that looks good at the beginning but gets less and less
8 August 2022
What's really bad about the whole series is that it's really, really confusing. Different storylines are mixed together. The only storyline that is really interesting is the storyline in the wilderness. I'm not going to tell you what other storylines there are, but I'm going to say that they are really very boring. The storyline in the wilderness does not come into view much anymore at some point.

The next thing that's also really weird is that the series tries to be very realistic while there are also things that happen that are totally impossible. I was watching and it is sometimes so unrealistic that anything could be done. The people who have seen the series might understand what i mean.

What I did like about the series was that at the end of the series I got a bit emotional. This was one of the only things that were still good besides the first episode.

What was also not very good was the script. The Liv yells all the time. I think I can really make a compilation of 4 minutes where she only swears.

a nice movie with a maybe a bit too simple storyline
8 August 2022
I just want to say that for me personally this is the first movie of the predator fanchise. I don't immediately plan to see the other films after seeing this film, but I certainly wouldn't mind either.

After seeing the film, I think the plot is actually quite simple. I would have liked to see a little more character building. I'm not saying this is negative because the plot is just plain fun to watch.

What I also liked about this movie was the time it was set in. Of course it takes place in some kind of prehistoric setting. The difference between the prefdator with all its gadgets and the fighters without is a very interesting idea.

The scenes in this film are also beautifully done and the images are very nicely shot. It was probably actually shot in a real forest, because it all looked very real. It also gives the film a bit more realism.

If you are a predator fan then you are guaranteed to like this movie and you should definitely watch it. Even if you (like me) have never seen a predator movie, I think this is a good introduction.

a fun but sometimes childish animated superhero movie
8 August 2022
The build-up in the beginning of the film is really well done in my opinion, because you really get to know the characters well already. Also the bond between Krypto and superman is well introduced here and is also very important for the rest of the story.

Some old music pieces are also used here and there. After seeing the credits, it turned out that there were even more soundtrack pieces than I noticed. The pieces that I did recognize really gave me goosebumps.

I'm not going to say which character for the people who haven't seen the movie, but there was a character in it whose lyrics were really, really childish.

I didn't think the humor in the movie was great in the movie but some of the jokes were nice. If you like silly humor then you will also like the jokes in the film.

This is a fun movie for the family only if you have children under 12 years old. If you're really a DC fan or animation fan then I think you'll enjoy it too.

a nice but with too many styles movie
12 July 2022
What I do like about this movie is that it might be a bit of a childish James Bond movie. It is of course done in a Disney way and a lot less violent.

What I did find a pity about the film was that the film is so many styles mixed together. You really have the old animation style. Then you have the new animation style. Then you also have pieces with real actors and on top of that you also have characters that were portrayed a bit with a kind of stop-motion style.

I also like that the characters Chip and Dale are quite different from each other. Through the film you definitely notice that they can sometimes bump into each other a bit.

Finally, I think the film is very nice to watch with the family. This is because it is of course great fun for children to watch (maybe) their childhood heroes. I just don't really think parents can laugh at the jokes made in the movie.

a movie with a nice style
11 July 2022
To be honest i have very fond memories of this movie as i watched this movie a lot when i was younger. I'll try to form an honest opinion, but I can't make any guarantees.

I find the story a bit sloppy at times. Sometimes things happen that really happen too quickly in succession and for which you get no explanation.

The scenes look very nice though. Really very colorful scenes that make you happy. Especially the first room where they come is of course really very beautiful.

The characters in the movie are really very funny and fun. My favorite character is definitely Grandpa Joe. He also has a really good storyline.

One more thing that I really really like about the movie is that the music is really fantastic. Danny Elfman has done a really good job again.

a nice but not so good movie
11 July 2022
What I don't like about this movie is that it's really weird that sometimes the noise isn't used by the villains. They could basically manipulate you and you just have to think about it and they already know.

What I did like about the movie was that the duo Todd and Viola. Their bond grows as the film progresses. There are only a few lesser bits here and there that make the band a bit uncomfortable. And for the people who have seen the film who know it has something to do with the noise. It happens in the rain in the forest.

What's also unfortunate is that there are 2 fight scenes in the film that are simply cut out in the middle of the fight. Then you see who has won and you have to deal with that.

Finally, I just want to give my compliments to the cast. There's certainly nothing wrong with the cast, so if you want to see this movie because one of your favorite actors is in it, I don't think it's that bad.

A fun begin for a new James Bond actor
11 July 2022
This is a really good start of a new actor for James Bond in my opinion. The movie also has a very nice freerun scene which i personally really like in an action movie.

There was only one drawback to the film that annoyed me a bit and that was that a number of scenes were really made a bit too long. Personally, I always like it when the film doesn't get stuck for too long.

Furthermore, the bond between James and Vesper is really well portrayed. They really managed to capture how much they care about each other. I can't say much more about it because I would spoil the movie.

Finally, I really want to give my compliments to the cast, because the cast plays really well. And I'm actually mainly talking about Mads Mikkelson.

A fun (sort of) origin story of Gru
8 July 2022
There are many fun parts in the film that might not make you laugh out loud, but that will put a smile on your face. I think a lot of kids would laugh about it.

I was only sorry that the group of villains had a little bit of background information. The only thing that slightly differed them from each other was the looks and the powers they had.

Another thing I might have wished to see differently was the movie's runtime. The movie could have been a little longer. Even if it's only 5 or 10 minutes. They could have used that time to deepen a few characters a bit more.

A fun Thor adventure
8 July 2022
One of the main reasons to go to this movie has to be Gorr. This is because Christian Bale really plays the part very well. I'd say that Gorr really is one of the best MCU villains.

Jane's return is also really, really good. Jane is also more fun in this movie than in the previous movies in my opinion. I just think the reason why they become the mighty thor is a bit disappointing.

There is also a lot of fun humor in the film. You must love it. If you didn't like the humor in Thor: Ragnarok, you're not going to love this movie.

I honestly think this is one of the MCU's most emotional movies. The ending in particular almost made me cry. The story ends really sadly.
