The Farewell (2019)
This film deserved better.
I Had seen this movie on Showtime. It was very good. This was truly one of the best movies of 2019. The cast did an amazing job of capturing the emotions of their characters. We've all seen these types of movies. But, it was refreshing to see a movie with fuctioning adults. The cast put in work with their performances. And, there was no dumb, gross out humour, either. This was a movie for grown ups. So, track down this film; watch it, and get pleasantly surprised. It's still playing on Showtime. You won't regret it. Enjoy the show! And, it's got Awkwafina; who could go wrong with that? Tell them JP sent you.
Muck (2015)
Just say NO.
I Had seen this train wreck on Chiller. Man, what a total piece of crap. Somebody must had watched a bunch of old 1980's horror movies; and said: Hey, i could do better than that. I Don't mind a Little blood and guts; but, that would've been overshadowed by the blatant t&a, and the cheesy script the actors had to work with. This movie isn't worth your time. Too bad MSTK3000 isn't on the air anymore. They could've lit this flick up. Perfect for those who own multiple issues of Fangoria. In the words of Jay Sherman, from the Critic; It Stinks! I hope that no one has the cojones to do either a sequel; or a reboot.
Breaking News in Yuba County (2021)
Good Directors. Bad Choices.
Every once in a while; even directors with hot streaks; can make an honest mistake. Such is the case with Breaking News In Yuba County. Tate Taylor is a great director. But, why did he make this god awful piece of trash? Watching this raging dumpster fire; i got the feeling that everybody was simply in for a check. Even the excellent Regina Hall looked embarassed. There was a bit of publicity about Jenny Slate turning down Mila Kunis' role. Somebody dodged a bullet. Get ready to see this trash in the 3.99 bin at Wal Mart. Don't even watch; or download it. That should save you some time. Nuff' said.
The Toll (2021)
This truly is a great movie.
I had just seen this movie on Showtime. It was worth it. I know a Lot of people know Iwan Rheon from GOT. But, he was also in shows like Misfits; and Vicious. He does have comedic chops. The rest of the cast, shines also. It's one of my favorite movies of 2022. Think Fargo; meets The Big Lebowski. The Welsh countryside where this movie was shot, also shines. The plot involves stolen money; mistaken identity, and other assorted hijinks. Also, there's a stellar performance from Paul Kaye as the beleaguered tollbooth operator. If you're looking for a crime thriller/comedy; you've come to the right place.
Kuso (2017)
Watch at your own risk.
I Don't know who the target audience for this noxious piece of trash; but, it wasn't me. I Strongly suspect that somebody had either taken some ilegal substances; or, some poor, dumb studio executive had some money to burn. The gross level went up a notch with each segment. But, what really angered me, was that this was shown on a streaming service that folks pay for. I Really felt sorry for everyone that was involved in making this rank, piece of trash. A dumpster fire at best. I Wouldn't even rent this on a drunken dare. IN Short;Kuso is one of the worst movies i have ever seen. Perfect for those with a subscription to Heavy Metal magazine.
