Kevin Can F**k Himself: Living the Dream (2021)
Do Y'all Really Not Understand the Purpose of the Laugh Track???
I truly can't believe that there are people in these reviews that are hating on the laugh track. Are y'all really that dense?? The whole purpose of the laugh track is to be obnoxious - its parodying real sexist sitcoms!!!! It is quite literally the point. I truly can't comprehend how y'all can miss the point that badly. It is literally MAKING FUN and PARODYING shows with laugh tracks!!! It is pointing out the quiet horror of her life!!!!!
Anyway. Not saying you have to like the show but to say that the laugh track is bad and should be removed is missing the ENTIRE POINT OF THE SITCOM SCENES. Y'all need to go back to Middle School english class.
Desperate Housewives: Then I Really Got Scared (2011)
Lynette Rebuttal
Have to be honest that I REALLY strongly disagree with the Lynette haters in the other reviews.
Tom is the one that needs to run? Tom is a whiny manbaby who never takes responsibility for his actions and in actuality is the one who domineers his wife and controls her life. She just wants some semblance of control. He has a midlife crisis every other episode and screws his family over. Be it by quitting his job and announcing that Lynette is going back to work, then not doing any housework, making her sleep on baby vomit; not wanting a job until Lynette is interested in it; throwing away their life savings into a pizza restaurant he decided he wanted out of nowhere; always pressuring her into sex; giving Lynette five kids when she only wanted one; the list goes on and on!
But its Lynette who "controls his entire life"?? Be for real. Lynette is the saint for putting up with Tom and all of his ridiculousness. She wants him to be successful and he resents her for not letting him be lazy.
Bewitched: Samantha's Old Salem Trip (1970)
Another one..
Another episode where Samantha is transported back in time, losing her memory and witchcraft, and Darrin has to go back in time to rescue her... joy... they really were starting to lose ideas around now, and resorted to redoing classic episodes.
I realize it was 1970, but I was truly caught off guard by the horribly sexist joke of the woman in chains because she spoke sharply to her husband, and Darrin chuckles "wow, these were the good old days". I'm supposed to like this man? I'm supposed to be glad he and Samantha are together?
It's just annoying. Why wouldn't Samantha have her memory or witchcraft? I dont get it.
Bewitched: Salem, Here We Come (1970)
Weak...
Just another weak season 7 episode... basically nothing of importance happens. It's just an absolutely nothing episode. Hepzibah is annoying and doesn't add anything interesting, and just... nothing happens! I don't know what else to say lol... its just dull and uninteresting... there's no stakes. Because you know she'll change her mind and Darrin will be okay, Samantha will keep her powers, yadda yadda yadda.
ALSO... if Sam can make someone fall in love so easily... well.... what was up with the love potion episode a few episodes prior? If witches can twitch their nose and make someone fall in love, why would anyone ever need a love potion? It's just a messy episode. Worldbuilding doesnt make sense.
I do like that they acknowledged Samantha was at one point queen of the witches - whatever happened to that????
Bewitched: Daddy Comes to Visit (1969)
Darrin makes sense..
One of the only episodes where Darrin is logical. Yes, he has been silly to deprive his wife of witchcraft! If only that was permanent and not just part of this two parter... his hatred of witchcraft in other episodes just feels unfounded and bigoted.
This is a good episode for Dick Sargent. Usually im not a fan of his interpretation of Darrin, but in this episode, at least, it works and plays to his strengths. Some impressive visual effects in this episode for something from 1969. Obviously they don't look incredible today but for the time period they're really quite great. Surprised there was no mention of uncle arthur in the beginning..
Bewitched: Is It Magic or Imagination? (1968)
Why does she stay?
I've been rewatching every episode of bewitched, and it is episodes like this that cement my hatred for Darrin. He's just absolutely cruel. Always belittling his wife, acting as if she can't do anything on her own, always getting mad at her for the dumbest, most inane things possible. Like this episode, where he gets screaming mad at her for something he convinced himself she did. It's infuriating. He just isn't likable! Why does Sam put up with this awful man? I know, I know, times were different, but still. He treats her with no respect and SHE'S expected to apologize to HIM. What is even his problem with magic?? He doesn't love his wife for who she is, and always tries to make her to conform to something she isn't. He doesn't trust her. A good marriage has to be built on trust. Man is living the dream, could have anything he ever wanted, has so many bigger things to worry about, and instead gets screaming mad that his wife cleaned the house a bit faster than the normal person. Most sane people would love that for themselves.
Bewitched: The Magic Cabin (1965)
Darrin...
It's episodes like this one where Darrin gets on my nerves... I don't quite understand his intense hatred of magic, and in this episode it feels truly ridiculous. I know its there for conflict but it still feels, at least to modern sensibilities, a bit ridiculous.
