Roseanne: Crime and Punishment (1993)
Best Episode of the series.
With a show like this, the laughs are aplenty (albeit, the last official season is pretty lackluster), but this one hits all of the marks. Funny, but super emotional in every sense that hits close to home in todays society. Laurie Metcalf's performance is super endearing, poignant and powerful. You feel every word, sort of what Fisher must've felt like when Dan got to him. The follow up episode (as this is a 2-parter) is hilarious. So in a sense, you get kinda the best of both worlds. I grew up with this show, but obviously as a kid, there are things you're going to miss, but being able to come back to it all these years later definitely says something.
Yes, this series is older, but still resonates.
Do. Not. Miss. This. One.
Roseanne: Arsenic and Old Mom (1997)
Wow.
As someone who grew up with this show, and absolutely loves it, I totally do not understand why this episode even exists. Sure, having a mental break down exists and mental cases definitely exist, but man, this was tough to watch. This just feels so wrong and totally out of place. I'm sorry to say, this is definitely way out of whack. I suppose you have to watch it once just to say you did, but be warned, this is not what I call funny.
