Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Those Old Scientists (2023)
BRAVO!
What a great episode. It breaks every "logic" rule and is one of the best episodes of SNW, without saying that the seasons are boring.
ST: SNW is a fantastic ST series! BRAVO! And getting better and better.
The transformation of the characters from 2D to 3D is outstanding. Boimler or Beckett could have mentioned the inconvenience of the "new" three-dimensional bodys in one scene.
The uniforms, the characters, the scenario. Everything was perfectly coordinated. Maybe it needed such an episode, considering how gloomy and ersnt the next one will be.
Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid have successfully mastered their roles, respectively their transformation from ST: Lower Decks to ST: SNW.
Andor (2022)
incredibly slow.
No wonder they decided to release 3 episodes at once. I have now seen two and still do not know what this series wants from me. None of the characters are interesting in any way. Everything plays out like a bad reality series "just another day on Andor". At the moment I can't understand or comprehend the hype.
If the story wasn't set in the SW universe, it would be dead by now.
I don't understand why you don't get to see something interesting and incredible in the first episode. No attempt to lure the viewer into the series and captivate him. Even Kenobi was more imaginative.
I hope the series is still developing, but again my question. "why do these mini-series take so long to get to the point?". Only when you have struggled through 3-4 episodes does a series get to the point. A bad trend.
She-Hulk: Attorney at Law (2022)
This show delivers!
Good CGI for a TV-show. Nice writing. Nice characters.
I love that John Byrne touch. The wit of his Comic She-Hulk run was captured very well.
First episode : Hulk vs. She-Hulk Fight. Thats comic 1o1 -
maybe a little too fast in the storytelling in the first minutes, but just right to bring the topic "origin story" behind! So I liked that.
Haters gonna hate, but I liked it. (Yes, I have written this before.)
So, I can't wait to see the next episode!!!!
The Orville: Domino (2022)
Bravo!
So you made me cry - as a man. Bravo Orville.
What a great episode.
At first I thought Star Trek Strange New Worlds was going to be the better series this season, and I still think so for large parts. This episode 9 didn't change my personal winner, but it did bring the runners closer together. Bravo again to all the creators of the series involved.
Hotaru no haka (1988)
what a tragic soul ride.
This is the ONLY movie that I - I've seen it twice - can't stand psychologically and physically. The story tears my soul apart inside. God, I wish I could enjoy this masterpiece more often. But it is not possible. It gets to my core.
What a wonderfully told story.
Really, very very rarely has a movie taken me away like that.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Fight or Flight (2022)
a damn good episode.
The dialogues really intrigued me. My bow to the authors (... Katherine Beatty).
The new team is growing on me. Like the new teamleader. Okay, Gibbs cannot be replaced, blablabla, but I love the gentle serenity of Garry Cole. And after 11 ! Seasons with the "Gibbs character", a little variety is a good thing.
Slugfest (2021)
What a successful homage ...
... to American comic history.
I have enjoyed this series very much. The combination of stories surrounding the DC/Marvel business, presented with interviews of the protagonists from the era; embellished with re-enacted scenes - combined with appealing presentation of the comic illustrations. An absolute success. The commentator is all-time comic fan Kevin Smith.
The actors in the re-enacted scenes were exquisitely chosen. Sean Gunn as Stan Lee. Great! With Jack KIrby I still thought: "How could the producers get such good footage from the original?" Gal Gadot ... hmmm nice!
A great documentary for any superhero comic book lover.
Brogan: Master of Castles (2019)
If i must choose...
...between MotU Revelation and Brogan...
... I choose Brogan. Nuff said.
Okay. Not a fair comparison, I know. But after the first half of Revelation I´m pi**ed, like so many fans. And even the second half of the series season can't change that anymore.
Brogan is a successful spoof of the original series. With funny changes to the characters. Adult changes that gives the whole thing a certain spice.
No Time to Die (2021)
This was a Bond movie?
I dont think so.
I myself grew up with the Bond films. In the great times of Connery, Lazenby (Yes, he too), Moore to Dalton and Brosnan!
But this "conclusion" of this five-movies series now shows the low of the series.
Nothing has remained in the "new Bond" that makes the formula "BOND". Everything was sacrificed on the altar of the gender-mania, feminism, the "change of time". "007 is just a number" - This is the quote that sums up the movie in one sentence.
The story was irrelevant. Bond's antagonist was completely overwhelmed by the role and the script did not give him time to tell his plans and develop his character during the movie.
The iconic title sequence was watered down, the villain's "facility" degenerated into a botanical bunker.
There's a lot I could overlook, but one thing ultimately threw me out of the movie in its entirety. No Bond movie has ever so abused children and dragged them into oppressive situations!! I was downright shocked by the young girl's scenes, which were also staged quite softly to avoid jeopardizing the age ratings.
Yes, of course, the girl does not experience direct violence, but the situations, such as shootings, life-threatening events, kidnapping and a pledge for extortionate demands,.. is tough to swallow.
In other movies, with other plots, this is all justifiable. But not in a Bond movie.
I don't want "reality" in a Bond movie, I want a "reality" set in the Bond universe. And the formula is: exotic places, money, beautiful women, gadgets from Q, wit and charm and dry martini. The realistic Bond already fell flat on his face with Dalton.
This Daniel Craig Bond-Edition still had a hopeful beginning with Casino Royale, with a solid Spectre, but woeful Quantum and Skyfall.
I'm hopeful about the reboot with candidate 7.
The only highlight for me personally were the lyrical and musical references to the underrated Lazenby Bond- On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Louis for the best!
Monster Hunter (2020)
Sorry to say that...
...but what an "epic" BS!
MonsterHunter is like Fast&Furious only with Dragons (monsters) instead of cars. But without Diesel.
Bad dialogues, "happy" coincidences upon coincidences. Main character with the nine lives of a cat.
The CGI can convince, but the rest like plot, characters, just everything around is terribly dull and boring.
Even Milla Vovovich can't save the movie.
Jûbê ninpûchô (1993)
what a beauty!
One of my favourite anime. Strong characters (bad and good), strong story, strong artwork.!
The Big Show Show (2020)
Its not the Big Show...
... but its a REALLLY GOOD Show!!! I was really hoping for a second season. And Mr. Paul Wight is the right guy for a comedy show!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 12: The Siege (2020)
Its a shame
Its a shame. The series - and episode 4 alone - offers more SW than the last three movies combined!
The team behind the Mandalorian does everything right. Give them the next trilogy.
Barbarians (2020)
A typical german show?
What the show is missing is a bigger budget and a few good authors! The dialogues are partly shamefully stupid. The story would have needed some good human, tragic, memorable moments - right from the beginning. After three episodes, I don't remember anything worth mentioning about the plot. In one word: trivial.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017)
Bravo!
Already the 3rd season and still fresh and great. Great! Great! Great!. Yeah. I´m not good at reviews. But the writers and the enthusiastic cast has delivered. The stories around her tour are a feast for the eyes and ears. The music selection is brilliant - as in the previous seasons.
One point deduction? The show is not a Bo Derek perfect 10. I know that's an important part of the series., to show the weirdness of the jewish community in the 60s ... but sometimes its too much.
Harley Quinn (2019)
Now we are talking!
Finally another good animation show for adults! Why can DC only be good in animation? This show is brutal, fast, chaotic - like it!
Batwoman (2019)
So my hopes are broken.
I was really excited about this show. But everything was taken from me. After the third episode I don't even have the hope that it will get better. The story doesn't interest me. The villain is uninteresting. The costume is a joke. In the first two episodes it was a woman in a badly fitting Batman costume. Now it's a woman wearing a badly fitting Batman costume with a badly fitting red wig.
And the few action scenes are pathetic.
I call the showrunner out for a wake of shame.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Daughters (2019)
Great finale!
Yeah Yeah. To all the one-Star hater.
This ghost-wife story was not the best. I can confirm that. But it made sense within the Fornell Storyline.
I liked the scene with Gibbs and Fornell on the couch; and Fornell asks Gibbs for his wife's advice.
And Ziva! Hurray!
AND NO she´s not a ghost. Even Bishop knows she is alive. See the Zivas Cabin episodes!!! It wasn't a surprise that Zivas is coming back for a guest-visit.
