Crystal-image
15 January 2024
"Crystal-image" is a term used by Deleuze to describe the most fatherly crystalline images Herzog creates in this film. His acting style is reminiscent of Bresson's. Kieslowski's Dekalogue and Sokurov's Faust share many linguistic features. The fact that some themes in Tayfun Pirselimoglu's Yol Kenari refer to Herz aus Glas makes the film an important work for Turkish cinema. This film, which returns the labour of man to man, reveals the importance of appreciating and valuing such films. It is one of the rare works of pure cinema with its balances, dull characters and images. It should be watched hundreds of times even to learn how to make cinema.
