Sisu (2022)
A resilient man of few words, Sisu
If you are looking for a story of overcoming immense odds with a side of dead Nazi's here it is. It is easy to watch and a great story. It is short, sweet and gets to the point right away. I gave it a try on a whim and was glad I did. It is a little farfetched at times, but believable at the same time. Yes, I don't know how they did it either. Instead of watching some boring American thrillers give this movie a try. You will be pleasantly surprised how war movies do not need to be complexed. Or don't and be upset when you finally watch it and kick yourself for waiting as long as you did. Then come back and review it like I did.
You Were Never Really Here (2017)
These reviewers were never really here
How is that the audience reviews now follow along with the critics? I've seen and liked many Joaquin Phoenix movies, but just because he's a good actor doesn't mean the movie is good. If you watched this movie without reading the plot online it is tough to understand wtf is going on most of the time. I'd rather watch Gladiator or The Joker for the 10th time then the 3 hours I wasted watching this movie twice. I couldn't remember if I had seen it prior to watching it the second time. Then it dawned on me I had seen it and the terribly slow pace with a confusing story was the reason I didn't remeber it. It's so forgettable I'll prolly see it again in 4 years, if not for me really being here wasting time writing a review to remind myself. It's not the worst movie, but not worth the time.
Animal Kingdom (2010)
How criminals will eat their own
I watched the first half of season one of the TV show before finding it was a movie first. The movie gets right into the dark side of how crime ridden families exploit loyalty. The truth all along is they are only loyal to themselves. The narcissistic minds and criminal behaviors lead them further away from sound descions and further into self destruction. This movie shows more of the dark side after the crimes and what people do to protect themselves. I loved seeing this aspect of how criminals have no loyalty. The typical "criminals are cool," films rarely touch this side of that lifestyle. Some may think this film is slow and boring, but what they miss is the intense nature of wanting to not fall in line with a family of criminals is just as thrilling to people like me. This movie is well acted and directed. Give it a watch.
The Square (2008)
Great suspenseful thriller
I don't know how this isn't rated higher. The twists and turns of this movie will leave you on the edge of your seat. The cast is great the story line and character depth makes it that much better. It starts right into the story and doesn't waste any time building the extensive plot. I don't know how people watch this and rate it anything less than an 8. I am surprised I never found it until now 15+ years later. If you're looking for a new thriller to watch definitely check this out. I am going to be looking into the writer/directors other movies and watching them now. I hope if your reading this you watch the movie.
LT: The Life & Times (2013)
Lt was a wild man with a wild life
We have all seen him on the field. This shows why being your favorite player on the field cannot always be your favorite off the field. This shows him in a way no other documentary or news story ever could. He's a passionate person who was loved for his wild and crazy football personality. That personality is very hard to turn off. It is an everyday struggle. This documentary shows the struggle in depth.
To be held accountable and take responsibility for your actions is what all kids should be taught. This shows someone who made mistakes and tried everyday to fight his demons. That's not a fight addicts can win.
Fat: A Documentary 2 (2021)
A documentary brought to you by the meat industry
I suffered through this documentary. It was filled with a bunch of people paid to promote the medicines you only need because the meat industry has poisened us. I am not vegan. I go eat small portions of meat, but the hatred this spews on how vegan diets aren't sustainable, but claim keto/Atkins diets are is laughable! The meat we eat these days isn't the meat at the beginning of the 20th century. Heart disease wasn't the leading cause of death until the 60s. Let that sink in. Right in the time frame where animal based diets were pushed. Don't waste your time feeding your brain with bad advice not based on science.
The Gray Man (2022)
If yiu like The Bourne Movies. You'll like this movie.
I don't know why all the hate. This is a face paced thriller with a storyline that is easy to follow. Billy Bob, Evans and Gosling are terrific. Evans is a easily hateable bad guy, which isn't his typical role. There is lots of action and edge of your seat moments. Exactly what you want in an action thriller.
Piranha 3D (2010)
It's more of a skinamax soft core porno then anything
The story could have been good but exploitation of naked women makes this movie unbelievable. The story line itself is hard to believe anyway. The acting is atrocious. Loyd and Shue have good performances, but they are drownout by terrible acting and unrealistic lake partying. I wouldn't waste my time if you haven't already and wish I hadn't myself.
Truth (2015)
A great perspective on the power of money in politics
This movie shows just how much our 2 party finger pointing democracy is bad for the truth. It's a great example of how distracting people from the actual point of a news story with focus on minor details doesn't let our press fulfill the duties of giving us stories we need to hear. It's a great movie with excellent performances by Blanche and Redford.
Molly's Game (2017)
Very Entertaining
The complex story flows great and keeps your attention the entire movie. A very enjoyable watch and great performances. It is face paced for a non action film which keeps you on the edge of your seat.
