The Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker (2023)
Sad end to an amazing story
I hate the way journos and filmmakers and reality TV producers climb out of their deep dark coffins and pretty much ruin someone's life. Yes Kai has his demons but I can't stop thinking that if that 'sports' journalist (notice how much better he looks now than in 2013 I call that cashing in) had let Kai go on his way that day and live his life then what played out over the 3 months just would not have happened. And once a kardashian producer gets involved I say start running and quick. Not one of them tried to get him help and then go even further to say his abuse story was over the top like WTF are these people on about how do they know did they live his childhood life? I am appalled about the treatment of him and I think his case needs looking into he needs psychiatric help. Its a shame, I wish I'd not watched it.
Synchronic (2019)
Why would you take your dog?
The premise of this film is time travel through taking a drug, back to the future it ain't. It's very low budget and the sci fi effects are awful. The main character is supposed to be a Knight in shining armour off to rescue the girl who is lost somewhere in the ether. Before he trots off he does a few tests to see how long he's there for and where the pill takes him, then he gets a smart idea, I know he thinks, I'll take my loyal faithful and goddammit cute as can be dog with me just to see if I can bring him back and guess what.... yea you guessed it poor faithful pooçh is no more. He could of taken anything at all even a bloody spider ffs, why would he take his faithful pet? Films do this a lot and its a massive NO from me. Real people would NEVER EVER do this to their pet and films depicting this are misrepresenting the human psyche.
I'm out this film is absolute trash its best left there.
Blonde (2022)
Utter Misery
I thought going into this film I was going to see a true biopic of how marilyn monroe came to be, yes the downside is the fact she was paraded as a sex bomb but I'm 100% sure she was more than that and this film is just empty and emotionless, theres no hint of what truly made her tick. It basically came down to a girl with 'daddy issues' who allowed men to defile her in inconceivable ways and was given pills and booze to keep her like a sex toy, I was disgusted by most of what I watched I didn't finish it. I wanted to know about the orphanage she grew up in, how she started as a model and what drove her, her loves and hates and everything in between her actual personality is that too much to ask? I didn't want to see hour after hour minute after minute of her being sexually abused, physically abused and mentally abused, I wanted to know what made her tick, who SHE was warts and all not just warts.
The style of the film is terrible and hard to focus on.
The actress doesn't sound or particularly look like marilyn (the make up helped) Ana De Armas is exceptionally beautiful but she does not look like Marilyn. I think she struggled with her voice which let down her acting.
I hated the black and white filming and the small ratio aspect was not atmospheric it was claustrophobic.
I don't know a lot about this icon only the films I've seen and her apparent affair with the Kennedy brothers but this film makes her look weak and worthless.
Such a shame.
Monster (2022)
Chilling yet not all fact
On the whole an excellent series that documents what Dahmer did without glamourising it, its portrayed in a voyeuristic way which I found better than being from the victims or Dahmer himself.
I found the neighbour Glenda depicted in this series to be very annoying and have since found out that she wasn't even his actual neighbour she lived nowhere near him, her account of what she heard and her reaction makes you wonder how she stuck it out for so long, now I know she wasn't there at all kind of let's down the series for me as I'd rather have the facts than a loosely based faction, plus there's no need to dramatise what Dahmer did his actions were dramatic enough.
The acting (apart from the neighbour Glenda, the actress was awful) was exceptional especially Evan Peters, his portrayal of Dahmer was first class.
I would have liked to have heard more of his confessions to his defence lawyer Wendy who isnt even depicted in this series, as well as the trial and the interviews he and his dad did after his conviction, for me this would have made it a more rounded story so then we can put it to bed and allow the victims to rest in peace.
Red Rose (2022)
Definitely meh!
Red Rose started off pretty well and I liked the story premise at first, however during episode 2 I realised that none of the characters are likeable especially Wren who is the protagonist. I've watched the whole 8 episodes and It a dragged too much with filler that amounted to nothing and was pretty boring.
I wanted a scare/horror/drama in a new and modern guise but what I got was rehashed Black Mirror which I didn't rate anyway.
There's too many unexplained sequences that don't make sense and the protagonist Wren is a brat.
It was too watered down and childish.
Shame
This series is 4 episodes too long.
Day Shift (2022)
Absolute Trash
This could have been so good as Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco are great individually but they don't gel in this film. It's stupid unfunny and boring. The fight scenes are too long and edited and as for the dialogue don't get me started I'm sure Netflix thinks we are all a bunch of idiots. I don't know what's going in the film/cinematic industry but it needs a good slap if they think this pile of you know what makes a good comedy horror.
Its:
UNFUNNY
BAD SCRIPT
MUMBLING DIALOGUE
LOUD SCORE MUSIC
OVER EDITED
OVER PRODUCED
NEED I GO ON!
The only decent character is Snoop Dogs.
Do yourselves a favour and watch something that has wit or is darkly comedic like;
Saun of the Dead
Blade
Dusk till Dawn
If you haven't seen them they are classics and this pales into insignificance.
Black Bird (2022)
Excellent telling of a true story
This was a great drama based a true story of a drug dealer behind bars helping the FBI by going undercover befriending a serial killer in order to extract a confession and set during the 1990s. The main actor Taron Eggerton was superb as was the the actor who played serial killer Larry Hall, they bounced off each other really well and kept the intrigue suspense well. Everything about this series and how it unfolds is great. I read a little background on the case and it took the guy over a year to get the confession needed to keep the psychopath locked up, can you imagine going through that!
