Borrego (2022)

This is how to create a simple but good thriller
21 August 2022
Lately I see movies "trying too hard", but sometimes simplicity is the best. There are only a handful of main actors, but there really is no need for more. The acting is great, and the cinematography is on point. As someone who is familiar with the desert setting in real life, I believe "Borrego" has managed to create this desert feeling for the viewer. "Borrego" is also a good thriller since you never really know what will happen next, and it leaves the viewer speculating the unfolding of the story throughout the film.

If you are a thriller/drama fan, I would recommend this title to you.

Humanity in the beauty and ugliness.

Just brilliant.

The Florida Project is about poverty and daily struggle, but from the children's eye level.

The viewer becomes a child again and explores the world with the characters. As watching you sometimes just do not know whose side are you on.

The drama is presented in a brilliant manner.

The Florida Project is a must watch.

The core of "Drama"
10 August 2022
Defiantly one of the best "Hardcore" and complex dramas of the year.

A complex storyline of three generations struggling to "get their heads above water" in all aspects of life.

"Hillbilly Elegy" shows us the depths of life and is "as human as it gets".

A must watch for drama lovers.

Purple Hearts (2022)

As a romantic movie, it is ok. Not very realistic overall.

I will start with the good. If you are looking for a nice romantic movie, you should watch. At some points I defiantly felt the drama and romance and I lost track of time. The actors were ok overall, and it was nice to see the backdoor message about how no mater your political affiliation, we are not that different after all.

The problem is that a movie is more than good actors and a nice concept.

First, I lost track of the timeline. Sometimes in life, the more you add, the worst it gets. This movie seems to try too much at times, and it seemed too far-fetched to be realistic (Maybe more time indicators could help).

My second problem was how inaccurate the military aspect was. IF YOU ARE A VETRAN do not expect to watch a military related movie. It is only there as a concept for one of the characters.

My third con, the movie feels like it is too political. The idea is nice, but it feels like it takes a side on the political map and that helps to ruin that flow that a movie should have by potentially distracting the viewer.

And for my last con, the movie feels too cliche at points. There is no need for that fan for Cassie's hair...

I will however give "Purple Hearts" bonus points for being a more family friendly movie at a time that almost every romantic movie will show elaborated sex scenes.
